Mick Lynch and Eddie Dempsey are both absolute models of how to conduct an industrial dispute and to be interviewed. There is no flannel, no double speak, no evasion, no name calling. What there is, is honesty and integrity, calm civilised conversation, and an excellent example to anyone who needs to speak publicly. An awful lot of MP's and Government Ministers could learn a lot from these two.

I live near the East Coast Line, and wondered how trains were keeping going. From 05:45 AM passing with no saloon lights on; until 10:45 PM into Hull. Now I know, thanks to Mick Lynch; and no thanks to this Tory regime of modern day Nazism. And during the present strike days at least £320 gifted to keep the rail companies in profit while no trains run. Bit bent it seems to me...

True, but those are mainly the pre-information-age generations. There is a very important change happening with the new generations, who do not grow up blindly believing the establishment's narrative, who have the truth available at the click of a button, and that makes all the difference. New generations, for example, will be much less likely to fall for right-wing anti-EU propaganda, simply because they get exposed to facts, reality and pushback. The question now becomes whether we are able to hang on until those new generations grow up, gain seats of power and start improving things for the common man instead of the wealthy.

What the RMT and Network Rail should do now, along with the Rail Companies, all come to the table without the Governments permission or bless and hammer out a deal that they hand over to the government and say: "this is what we've agreed on, just need you the government to sign off on it" then it clearly shows that RMT and Network rail and rail companies want to get an agreement in place and shows the government is blocking it. Back the government into a corner by negotiating without government blessing or permission

@@elboobio5920 yea and that just proves the government can't be trusted. But a ballot should be done without the government permission or knowledge, and then the results published publicly before Government have any chance of seeing it, influencing it, changing it, anything. The government is clearly responsible for this prolonged strike and its expansion because all they see the general public are as slaves. Thats what 12 years of tory government have made the general public. Slaves and destitute. NO MORE power to the people and the Unions. Power to the nurses, fire fighters, police, ambulance crews and the rail staff.

March last year I visited Amsterdam for the weekend. I chose a hotel just on the edge of town (Amsterdam-Zuidoost) which meant using train and underground services. I can't say that everything was perfect but overall clean, effcient and easy to use. When I returned to the UK I used the railway from Birmingham Airport to get to Leicester. The stark contrast was clear. The UK's service was looking old and decrepit with shabby sunken seats. More evidence the country is going down the drain.

Yes, one example that chimed with me was the Tory ideology, and dogma for money saving. To benefit their donor giving 'vested interests'. One way being driverless trains. They argue, in support of a case; and an ideal that exists only in their own imagination, that driverless trains are essential to future life on Earth. As a step further to guard-less trains. Indeed they already have them, on the Docklands Light Railway; a representative of the Tory regime informed Mr Lynch at a parliamentary select committee interview. No corrects Mr Lynch, DLR trains all have a qualified driver on them. Therefore they are not driverless. Collapse of stout party... Tells you all you need to know about the 'Church of Scientology' mentality of these psychopaths...

Business Owners - how difficult is it to sell your products now compared to 15 years ago? Do people have less spending power? If workers had a fairer share of wealth then they could spend more with your businesses. Currently we have a constant concentration of wealth to a few at the top. Better to have this distributed to millions of people who will buy your products and put it back into the economy. Instead it's being taken to tax havens, being taken out of the economy, making Britain poorer.

Came across many very clever people from outside that applied and not many had much in the way of common sense, hence the failure rate was about 40%. The job went downhill about 10 years ago when they stopped recruiting thru the grades and started employing uni grads with media degrees. I was told the dregs of the world worked on the rail but what I found were mainly good people and whole families, generations of rail workers but that were never valued by the politicians that sold off BR and sold us out. I worked my way through the grades like you and became an Bridge Examiner. After privatisation the real waste began. People with no railway knowledge telling those with years how things work or new brooms fresh from university repeating all the failures of the past and refusing to listen to the warnings from the old hands. Our pension the day before privatisation were platinum status because it was backed by the government and the day after it fell to silver and of course the new bosses telling us the pensions were unaffordable.
