Mindhunter review. John takes a look at the new series Mindhunter on Netflix and gives his quick review of season 1.
Mindhunter synopsis: In the late 1970s two FBI agents expand criminal science by delving into the psychology of murder and getting uneasily close to all-too-real monsters.

That was great acting by Jonathan Groff. In that hospital corridor the viewer could see how all that evil that the character of Holden Ford had to absorb, but could not expel was literally clogging and choking him.

It is, easily, one of the best shows on Netflix. The writing, acting, direction, and cinematography are all great. Also, that score. The score! Incredible. SO psyched for Season 2. For the protagonist I only have this piece of advice: "Beware that, when fighting monsters you yourself do not become a monster...for when you gaze long into the abyss. The abyss gazes also into you."~Friedrich Nietzsche.

I love researching and studying serial killers, and as such i already knew alot about the real serial killers that where featured in the show. I really appreciated how they intertwined real details and serial killers with this fictional story. I enjoyed being able to spot the differences and similarities between the killers, the cases, and real life interviews. I also really enjoyed the plot and overall i love this show. I am looking forward to which future serial killers they will feature and portray.

I read the true crime book it was based on back in the 90's and was enthralled. I kept telling everyone around me how amazing the book was but I couldn't get people to understand. I was so excited to learn they had made a series from it. If anything, the book delves far deeper into the killers minds and the FBI's attempts to learn how they tick. I really recommend it.

Loved it. Loved it. Loved it. So cerebral, so well written and one the best shows out there this season. It's also based heavily on factual events that makes it even more intriguing. One thing that is so different is that they rarely show any violence. The horror is created by the excellent dialogue and made more horrible because the imagery is constructed in your own mind and imagination. Excellent show. One of the best ever. Deserves to be ranked with the best of the best, Sopranos, Mad Men, Braking Bad, etc. Loved it, loved it, loved it.

I might be jumping to conclusions here but the topic of Debbie and Holden shopping together and going into the shoe store together helps bring to light Brunos high heels shoe fetish ....but I find that Debbie's size is notably brought into question. It is a known fact that a woman's shoe size increasing is one of many signs of pregnancy and her behavior changing noticeably as well gave me the impression that she did not want to break up as Holden concluded but she was looking to him for answers ....they had not been dating each other a long time and she was likely scared of a negative reaction from him . In not being upfront with Holden about her situation (if my conclusion is precise) she still encountered a negative response . In looking in Google for next seasons MINDHUNTER I find it more than odd that nothing is mentioned about Debbie at all. They supposedly broke up .... he left her because Holden assumed the worst about her behavior and figured that she wanted to end things with him. In looking at their relationship Debbie and Holden ....she made the first move , she mentioned marriage to him twice, and she told Holden she wanted him to meet her mom .....a woman wanting to break up or play games does not behave that way. There was just a lot of miscommunication and distractions between them for Holden to see her actions any other way. I hope Debbie is in this falls season .....they as a couple have great chemistry on screen ; )

SPOILER ALERT I just finished the series today and honestly, I'm most concerned with two things: 1. the Debbie/Holden storyline and if they get back together; or better yet, how Holden's romantic life will pan out now that he is such a different person from episode one 2. who the f**k the Park City Kansas random dude is. Is he a killer? Is he future Holden? Is he just some weirdo who's obsessed with drawing pictures of naked women being tortured? @The Writers I GOTS TO KNOW

On second thought it's more than likely the BTK killer reimagined. Although, I haven't heard much from these writers so it could be an entirely new plot [twist] with the Kansas random. Like, maybe they're the new M. Night Shyamalan's of Netflix. Hell if I know tbh

This series MindHunters had already been in Netflix for a few weeks before I decided to give it a watch . I like the channel provider here had not a clue of what this was about but out of sheer boredom I took a chance . I have to admit out of all the Netflix series I have seen in the past year or so this is my FAVORITE ! OK....If you read past here "POSSIBLE Spoiler Alert " : This had me hooked from the get go ; as a criminology buff of course I had heard all of these murders but never got the insight to the story line on such a personal level before now . I do not watch just any shows on crime I like Criminal Minds , Law and Order SVU , Law and Order Criminal Intent , Scorpio and NCIS mostly.... now I am adding MindHunters to that . I have seen some of the topics for the second season and am very upset that in the beginning of season 2 the series has entirely skipped over Holden's breakdown / recovery from and is already into 1976 at the start . The spoiler also mentions It is not until season 3 that we learn about the mysterious cat in the laundry room of the female in the behavioral science unit of the FBI "Wendy" it goes into some details about that situation but I will not mention it as I have probably spoiled enough as it is ....but to get the know how I know now I just Googled "MindHunters" next season .

I feel like the characters developed their learnings too fast. First few episodes were great, but considering this show appeals to those interested in the developments of criminology and abnormal psych, it really should have explored the struggles of understanding a bit deeper. Perhaps this should have happened through utilizing and critiquing the DSM. Edmond was introduced far too soon in my opinion. I still love the show and can't wait for the 2nd season

I agree, what a great way to binge watch during lockdown. I loved the portrayal of Ed kemper, just those scenes alone were worth diving into this. I watched season 1 back to back, season 2 I staggered my view time. I would recommend this highly if you like the daekside of life9/10

How is it possible that these serial killers like don't get the chair? Like I see people that has "only" killed 1 person get the chair. I'm kinda confused as here in Norway the most strict sentence we have is 21 years in prison and that is REALLY rare. Usually like 7 years-ish for a killer over here, and our prisons are more like hotels (not even kidding) you guys should read a article about our prisons, it's truly weird.

I really liked this show, I hope they're building up to a final confrontation with someone like Manson.

This show was amazing but why did their logo have to rip off true detectives opening sequence??? So many shows are doing that artsy silhouette thing!

I was the same. I didn't know anything about it at all. I thought it was a series about the movie I saw when I was a teen. It was sooo f'n dope.

If holden becomes a serial killer it would be the best crime show ever. I think he understands serial killers too much and maybe when he flip the switch and interrogates the criminals , those disturbing questions and sick chit chat comes from a real place.
