This Skoda had an issue with the alarm triggering randomly when parked, the issue was traced to a fault with the drivers door microswitch. This is a common fault with Volkswagen, Audi, Seat and Skoda vehicles which share a near identical lock design. Repeated opening and closing of the door wears the microswitch causing it to give an incorrect door open/closed signal.
A fault with a microswitch can normally be identified as the cars alarm may trigger, or the interior light may not function correctly when doors are opened/closed.
Replacing the microswitch is a relatively simple task which has corrected the issue without the need to replace the entire lock unit.
