@Isaac Parent exactly. A lot of people call diaz’s 2019 a “fluke year” but in the opposite way you’d normally use the phrase; to say he was fluking his way into bad outings as opposed to what we saw of him in Seattle
once my dad said bedtime and i said after this inning and there were 2 outs and that was the inning that the red sox broke the record for most runs in 1 inning with 2 outs, 9 runs
The final comeback was way more impressive than it looked at first. It just kept on getting more and more improbable the more times they had to make a comeback in their final inning.
The Brett Phillips walkoff was just so special, but I get so depressed whenever I see it to know the Rays came so close just to lose. I really hope they can come back and finish the job with how how they’ve been this year.
watching this as a giants fan: 🙃 watching two former giants, pablo sandoval and ehire adrianza, come up big for the braves consistently in the late innings: 😊
I remember that Dodgers-Mets game. I was in college in the Midwest and listening to it on the radio. Almost went to sleep after the top of the 7th but decided to wait.
When i was in little league, my team was down by 13 runs, and since it was only 5 innings, there was no mercy rule. We came back and won 14-13 in the bottom of the 5th
I SWEAR that the Braves had a massive comeback in the 2008 season I think (may have been 07 or 09) and I believe it was against the Phillies. They were down 5-0 at one point, but going into the bottom of the 9th, the Braves were down 6-8, but the bases were loaded. Matt Diaz then hits a ball into deep right field which makes the Braves win 9-8. I’ve looked for this game everywhere and I just can’t find it. I remember it so vividly yet it’s like it didn’t exist
"The Mets yank it out!" As a Braves fan, I cannot say enough how much I don't like the Mets. But, Gary Cohen is one of the best to ever call play by play. Bar none. I loved this particular pun.
Last year the MLB implemented a rule that doubleheader games are now 7 innings by default. They did it because Covid has been causing game cancellations that lead to doubleheaders, and it's better for the safety and physical well being of the players if the games are shorter so they don't have to play 36 innings in 2 days or anything like that.
