One thing I’ve noticed is that Alex hates TVs Astros so of course she picks them to lose first round. I don’t think she’s ever picked them to win any round. She’s always wrong. I could see Ben’s picks a little more realistic

Phillies are an interesting, against the grain selection. Most forecasters are predicting a Braves-Dodgers LCS. In the AL, hoping that the Rays can find a way not just to make to, but go through October. It will be difficult considering the Astros and Rangers. As far as the Orioles, Yankees, Jays, etc., they are all in the same boat because none of these three teams has made it any further than the Rays have in the last decade and a half.

Rays pitching is dependent on a lot of guys coming back from TJ and the guys they have staying healthy.

@@FlippinBatsPod Agreed. Hoping the guys that they have (Eflin, Civale, Pepiot, and Littell) can hold it down until Baz and Bradley return. Hopefully, the bullpen does not get too gassed too early.

The Phils aren't my pick, but I'd hardly call em an 'against the grain' pick. I've seen multiple people now at least picking them to reach the NLCS. Now a Blue Jays or Giants pick in the World Series would be much more against the grain.

@@earlybird9679 I meant against the grain for the Phillies compared to that of the Dodgers and Braves, who are more regarded as favorites to come out of the National League. At least according to the oddsmakers. Giants and Blue Jays are long shots compared to the Phillies.

Philly will be lucky to sniff the playoffs this year, let alone make it past LA and ATL. Talk all the shit you want, but everyone knows that the Phillies and Dbacks were beyond lucky to make it past the juggernauts. If anything I can do 2024 is due to regress, it's the playoff results.

@@harmonydavis6784 The Dodgers and Yankees in recent years have not shown up when it comes playoff time. One pitcher/hitter isn't gonna change that. Shohei has never been in a playoff situation, so it's not guaranteed he'll be up to it. Though I will admit, as not the biggest Dodgers fan, that Shohei out of all players, has earned a playoff spot on some type of team.
