Winter is coming, you know it!!! We better be ready!!!
So my rear mounted MK Martin snow blower works well on the back of my Massey Ferguson GC2300, but sometimes it spills a lot of snow out in front of the augers and it seems like I push snow with the blower more than blow the snow. I have an idea that might resolve some of this issue, I hope!!!
Have a look and see what I came up with. It's not my idea, I'm stealing it from MK Martin Snow Blowers. I sure hope it makes a difference.
Please click 'Like' if you enjoyed my attempt at resolving my Snow Blower concern!!! And if you haven't done so before, I sure wouldn't mind if you subscribed either!!! That's always good for morale!!!
Take care and we'll talk to ya!!!!

Hello there Gator!!! I would have made this bigger but as a test I hope this will prove the theory. I have seen a lot of bigger blowers with this part of the auger opening covered. Thanks for the watch buddy and take 'er easy!!!

How's she goin'? The blower is 52 inches wide and I use it on the back of my Massey Ferguson GC2300 sub-compact tractor. It sure can blow snow.. No problem for me to drop into your channel. I like small engine repairs. Take care and thanks for tuning in!!!

How's she goin'? Great to see you back!!! Do you have this issue with your blower too? It really doesn't affect the blower too much other than it leaves a lot of snow when you pull away after blowing up to a garage door or something like that. I'm hoping this will pick up that extra snow and make cleaning around the garage doors easier. Thanks for watching and take 'er easy!!!

Looking good, hopefully others with older blowers can use this mod too. I did mine over a year ago (haven't tried it yet) and saw that newer blowers had this as a standard. Thanks for posting!!

How's she goin'? Yes that what I saw as well. That's what prompted me to add this piece. It seemed to help so last year I installed a bigger one and was happy with how it worked out. I will be putting the blower on the tractor soon!! Winter is getting close I'm afraid!!! Take care and thanks for watching.

It seems like your modification should do the trick. I think slushy snow might be the only culprit that would have it get clogged in that snow-feed area. I'm interested to see how she does. Enjoyed watching and supporting, Grampie. Hope you have a fine week. The lower 48 will soon be celebrating Thanksgiving dinner this Thursday so I'll eat an additional pile of turkey and make sure the gravy, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce are stacked on the plate. Some pump[kin pie or homemade apple pie topped with Breyers' vanilla ice cream will make me search for my recliner, ha. Then.....football 🏈🏈🏈🤸‍♀️. Have a good one Mike.

How's she goin'? It sounds like you have your Thanksgiving well planned out!!! I can't think of anything that would improve on that plan!!! It looks like you are talented in gift wrapping! This snow blower has seen a lot of gravel! It looks like mine, where the impellers have been beaten up by rock impacts! We saw also Serge doing that modification (Mr. Teddy Bear). I was planning to do the same on my snowblower. So I will let you do the R&D and I'll gladly copy your design! (lol!). Thanks Mike!

Salut Joe!!! Drake isn't the only good wrapper in Canada eh!!! LOL I didn't know Serge made a mod like this, or at least if I saw his video, I forgot about it. My snow blower has been blowing snow off a 2.5 km gravel road and plenty of lanes for about 12 years, so it is showing it's age with distinction!!! I'll keep you posted on how this mod works. I won't be blowing any snow till we have a good snow base and then it'll be on the tractor for the rest of the winter. Thanks for tuning in and have a good one!!!

I'm very curious how it works out. My snowblower also piles the snow some. I was thinking of trying to add something like that, not for the snow that's left in front but because I questioned if it also helped with distance thrown. You've given me incentive. Oh and another plus, now we know where to send our gifts to get them wrapped for Christmas. Take care.
@GrampiesWorkshop
@GrampiesWorkshop 4 года назад
How's she goin'? This mod may help with the distance the snow is thrown because it will get more snow into the chute. Or at least that's the plan!!! I'll let you know how it works out. I probably won't be using the blower till we get some good snow cover. I hope I didn't jinx myself now as they're calling for snow on Thursday!!! Thanks for tuning in and have a good one!!!

A good experiment, not sure how long it will last. It should last long enough that you'll know whether it helps or not. That's a common baffle on large blowers, Honda is the only walk behind blower I've seen with a baffle there, tho. Those paddle kits mostly help you throw farther when you aren't at max capacity, which, probably is most of the time for most people. They especially help with slush where most blowers just don't have the power to throw it at full physical capacity. I think at least some of the problem here, which is also common for old walk behind blowers, is the impeller bends with age and the snow gets pushed forward instead of up. Most small blowers have little angled tips bent on the front to "cup" the snow. I've seen on old blowers where those get completely bent backwards.
@GrampiesWorkshop
@GrampiesWorkshop 3 года назад
How's she goin' and welcome to the channel!!! I had the first version of this mod on all last winter. It was just 3/8 plywood wrapped in thin, very thin, aluminum sheet metal. It stood up pretty good. This baffle is larger, but more sturdy so I hope it lasts!!! My impeller has the tips bent up and the sides too. I don't have an issue with how far it throws the snow. My issue was the amount of snow that seems to get tossed back out onto the augers before it can get into the exit chute. This baffle is meant to address that. I hope it does, but we'll have to wait and see. I enjoyed your comments about the mod. It sounds like you have lots of experience with snow blowers. I haven't used my blower yet this winter because we haven't had enough snow. I hope that doesn't jinx things!!! LOL Once again, thanks for your comments and thanks for watching. Take care!!

Nice test Mike I did one to mine and you could make your peace a little bit bigger like 6 inch wider. When I did mine I saw a big difference . Me to I started whit a small peace and whent a little bigger . You will see a difference more in the trowing distance and it will pile a little less. Whit that plate added in front some time you double the trowing distance even triple the distance. Mine was trowing snow like 10 to 12 feet in the air now I trow snow Higher then the electric line LOL.

Salut Serge!!! I have to apologize. Joe Lesage mentioned you had done the same mod and I didn't remember seeing your vid. But I checked and sure enough there it was!!! I knew I got this great idea from someone who knows what's going on!!! I expect the blower will throw snow better and I hope it doesn't 'push' snow like it used too. I'll watch and see, maybe make a bigger piece like you did too!!! Thanks a lot for the comment Serge!! Take care now!!!

LOL I know absolutely nothing about snow blowers being here in Louisiana but it looks like it will help to me. Can you cut off that one screw where it just barely sticks into the chute area? Really interested in seeing how your mod works out.

How's she goin'? Actually I removed that screw and added it in a different spot and it's not an issue now. I sure hope this works better and if it does it will be a great addition to all snow blowers in Louisiana!!! LOL Thanks for tuning in and for your comments!!!

If the women don't find you handsome a least they find you handy! LOL. I was wondering if the problem of the snow piling up is because the RPM of the blower is not enough.( in other words its's not spinning fast enough to get rid of the snow) Just a thought . Take care
@GrampiesWorkshop
@GrampiesWorkshop 4 года назад
How's she goin'? That's a good point John. If I run the rear PTO at less than 540 it doesn't blow the snow so well and yes it will pile up in front of the augers. But even when I run it at 540, or even higher sometimes, it still seems to push the snow. I think it's because as the impellers pick the snow and move it up and out the chute, some of it falls back onto the augers because the opening for the exit chute is to wide open. I'm hoping this little piece will close off the opening and not allow the snow to fall back out towards the augers, if that makes any sense!!! Thanks for watching John and take care!!
