I feel Vase of Vitality is being really underrated when going against monsters that inflict status effects regularly, like waterblight, thunderblight or even sleep. It has a relatively short cooldown, stays on the ground for a while once placed, gives you recovery speed and removes all negative status affects. Also a bonus, your palico will not just randomly place it, once you get affected by a status for the first time it will run to you and drop it down. And then from there as long as it isn't on cooldown, it will do that again if the monster moves to another zone.

Felyne Silkbind is a funnier/sillier looking move imo. Just watching my cat reel in a large monster and the squeaky sounds that the contraption makes is so funny. Bonus points when the initial hit actually stops a monster's attack midway

Conclusion: Just pick a freaking gathering palico, you got material and great support in the same time😺

I use double Gatherer Palico. One that has healing bubble and the other has the power drum. Remember that the lvl 1 Fighter buff also gives Earplugs.

Can't stress enough Gathering Palicos are mad good, extra statuses, more materials, mine has the ability to lay down some cheeky explosive mines too

Just realized I haven’t had any of the buddy skills equipped this whole time. I hope the master/g-rank expansion comes with a buddy plaza upgrade to train skills and abilities into your existing buddies

Just going to mention, there is another palico trap similar to shock purr-ison, I don't know exactly what it's called but it's a poisoned pitfall trap

I forget the name but I like the endemic life skill, spawns wirebugs, I use it with shock trap and healing bubble (or stamina buff with dual blades) on the gathering palico

One more i think deserves a mention is summeown endemic life. Makes the cat put down an incense burner that attracts wirebugs to it, allowing you to maintain that 3rd wirebug for those weapon types who get big damage 2 wirebug silkbind moves

I'm sure double Palico is optimal from a dmg/utility perspective but I just can't not take my palamute just for the mobility.

I know Palamutes aren't as deep as palicoes, but it would be cool to see this kind of video for them and also one that shows all the skills like in this video, not only the better ones, is hilarious to see them do their moves, since rarely we see them in combat

Also look out for sum-meown endemic life, it almost always gives you an extra wirebug which can be super valuable for mobility and having your silkbinds up more often

Favorite palico move is easily the endemic life barrage. I main charge blade and a free sleep ailment often equates to a free stun with impact or and insane wake up with element. The paralysis cloud does nearly the same but usually let's me get into sawblade mode, spinning ax, for some massive damage or part breaks.

with how similar the Support Move and skill systems are to the ones in Generations, I hope that they revamp and bring back Prowler Mode in Rise's expansion (as unlikely as it is).

For palicos and palamutes. I don't find their damage to be prominent enough to validate the general damage boost skills. It's a bit better to give them skills that increase their probability of interrupting or impairing the monsters. Knockout King, Status Attack Up. I also prefer them having resistances to the more annoying status effects like Sleep, Paralyze or Stun. That way, they can help your character if you ever get hit by those moves yourself.

A good thing to note is that you can actually capture monsters when they're caught in the Shock or Poison Purr-isons (Poison Purr-ison is an Assist palico lvl20 ability)! Been a huge help in hunts when a monster hops into a palico trap while it's ready to be tranq'd!!

I like the endemic life summon ability as well. That extra wirebug is fun to have

Just my preference (similar to the video's advice) but I've been collecting Gathering palicos with: Endemic life barrage Healing Bubble Power Drum Shock Purr-ison Pilfer Then I like to have Status Attack up and Knockout King if possible because I'm having them use Sleep/Blunt weapons. As a GS main the extra chance for Stun, Exhaustion and Sleep+Wake up are really nice for landing consistent big hits. If you're running a Status weapon or a stunning weapon I imagine it can really lead to extra procs.

I remember that giga barrel bomb in MHGen; at the end of the quest, I would pull one out to send any nearby hunter flying, as the bomb goes off just after the hunter finishes their victory pose when the quest ends.

My bombardier Palico has been fantastic for me during my village and hub runs. Best support type in my honest opinion. I don’t mind grinding a bit more for farming if it means I get to blow more stuff up lol.

Out of all the games out, monster hunter rise is thus far the most fun game I've played all year. It's not a bunch of sweats trying to outclass one another and not difficult to play. Tons of content and these buddies are awesome! Playing solo is awarding and playing with groups is always fun. Atm this game is in my number 1 spot.

I'm only using gathering palico for hunts, meowcenaries and argosy. Definitely gives you a lot of materials during hunts when you have the pilfer skill 🎉

One of my favorite palico skills is the poison trap skill my assist one gotten. Its like the shock trap but it poisons and its pit trap too

I'm using a bomber cat with the tops power drum and flash Bombay. It also has artful dodger and ranged attack up. And critical s. I been loving this load out for it. I could have also gone for shock tripper instead of flash bomb, but to be honest I like that flash bomb more since I'm using the hunting horn. I do want a fighter cat later with shock tripper, but ill worry about that later.

I really need to work on some Palico stuff, I'm still using my first Palico and haven't messed with him too much.

I run 2 gather palicos for double the plunder. Both with status up but one equipped with sleep and the other with paralysis. “Go, fight, win” in first slot for stamina buff. Power drum and sumeow endemic life in second for buff and free wirebug in second. And shock trap in third.

Running full para on weapons and palico weapons all while gathering. Its glorious.

I'm still early in the game, but I love the palico skill where the palico summons a wirebug that the player can grab and use. Having a third wirebug is always great for fighting monsters and exploration, so having your buddy summon one for you in the middle of a fight is very useful.

Summeown Endemic life seems to have good potential if you're using a weapon where you spam wirebug attacks: much more consistently you can stay at 3 wirebugs.

Can you do a video dedicated to Palico/Palamute gear/skills for dmg/support/etc?

I started the game with the gathering palico cause I figured it would have pilfer just like GU. The endemic life skill has saved me from dying as well as saved me time multiple times

I play with gathering palico as my main buddy. And boy he is such a great help got lucky with skills on him when creating, don't even need other buddies, which make me feel bad for them.

Anti-Monster Mine has really come in handy during Rampage quests. Adding the guaranteed stun, and good damage to slow down hordes works pretty well. Hell; I've even had it throw off monsters during their super attacks. Nothing funnier than the monster knocking themselves down when trying to do something cool.

so best fighter cat for support, Rousing roar and power drum, healing bubble, either flash bombay or shock purison, get him skills not to increase its damage further, but to make it so it wont get interrupted by the target (earplugs, tremor, wind, etc.) with maybe attack large or health large. thats your ideal buff cat. heck maybe furbiddin acorn so it wont die for a bit while it buffs you.

Do you have any opinion on which is the overall best type of Palico? as in Figher/Gatherer/Bombardier etc

I love my gathering palico with endemic life barrage. I have gotten some juicy SAED's off of a sleep toad barrage. NOw i just need the perfect gathering palico with go fight win, power drum and the thunder blight field with status up passive, then i will love him till .... something better gets found lol

For the skills like crit up, status up, knockout king, so not and so forth, do those only effect the Palio? Or are they also hunter buffs?

my very first palico i made at the start of the game is gathering type. it knows shock trap and the healing bubble. pretty OP of a cat and it was my first one xd

Is the buddy skills only for the buddies or does it apply to ur hunter aswell like for example does my attack up large increase my attack as a hunter or no?

Took me a while to roll the perfect palico. Gatherer with Stamina Up, Atk Up, Shock Trap all with Status atk up etc.

Mine is healer class would be nice to hear from the Palamute

Noah, the resident palico expert from MHGU, here to put my stamp of approval for my hunting community on this, along with an addendum of my own: In MHGU, the damage from palicoes was largely insignificant, and status options ranged from a bit subpar to just trash. Optimal skills therefore focused primarily on support uptime, i.e. Support Boost, Counter Boost, the various immunity skills, and Artful Dodger. The AI and, presumed by observations thus far, attack rate is *significantly* improved in MHRise, so Arekkz's recommendations of offensive skills are very much worth considering. It'll take a lot more time/datamining to accrue enough data to choose more objectively. At the very least, it stands to reason that Status Attack Up is much more valuable than it was previously.

This might be a stupid question sin av fin the game ar the companion skill there own or are the non attack skills passive to u as well like the knockout king dose that apply to the hunter or just the companion

Summeown endemic life is also great. Free wirebugs and the thing sticks around a long time.

Really love Go, Fight, Win! for basically infinite stamina poison pur-ision is the only way ingame to get the poison pitfall trap. shock pur-ision is literally just a shock trap. shock traps are just trap tools which are cheep to buy and shock bugs which you can just send buddies to collect for you. you can also fast travel back to camp most of the time to get more traps from the box or just keep shock bugs and trap tools in your pouch and set them to autocraft. so flash bombay or shock tripper would probably be a better 4th skill. for some reason plunderang got renamed to pilfer which doesn't make sense as plunderang and pilfer have existed as different palico skills for several games.

How do you get the long fur palico? Not seen that fur option in my palico creation settings

Checked my scouted policoes while watching the video and found a gatherer with the shock trap and drum heheee 🤩

that's why i always have 2 palicos 1 healer and 1 fighter or gatherer. i change the 2nd palico depends if i am farming materials or just hunting monsters

I have a Gatherer and a Support Palico bot with Healing Bubbles, Monster Mine and Shocktrap and as passive Status+ and Kockout King ;) Best Moveset for me because all my Palicos use status weapons also status+ boost the first skill of the Gather Palico. I think going for an explosive build and jusing a Bombarider Palico with all that explosive skills. By the way a side tip. There is a command for Palicos its the Felvine you can use this command once per quest. When u use it your Palico goes in rage modus for a while and boost his stats e.t.c and also it will use more of the skills.

Not quite sure but does the power drum even activate more than once during a hunt, I haven't seen it pop twice in my hunts which makes it way more worse than example vase or smth else.

I have a fighting Palico that has Rousing Roar, Go Fight Win, Power Drum, Fleet foot feat... and OMG let me tell you HE IS GODMODE! Paired with my hunting horn... we just constantly buff and kill things!!

Surprised not to see Summeown Endemic Life. Always able to have a 3rd Wirebug is very useful incase you are in a area you can't get one.

I got super lucky with my default palico, she's a gathering palico with Endemic Life Barrage, Healing Bubble, Shock Purr-ison, and Pilfer

There’s a skill exclusive to healer type palicoes, called Medic’s touch. Basically you get more health back from palico placed heal items. Always welcomed with a tanky GS

Cats seem to be able to still pilfer materials even without the pilfer move, I have a healing palico and still end up with a few stolen materials at the end of every hunt

My favorite is my Gathering Palico. He has flash and he summons me a wirebug in every area that just persists. If I run out, I go grab another wirebug. Spam those 2 cost silkbind moves all day!

Huh, I thought the shock trap was for the Assist support type only, it's why I've been using one. Maybe I'll try to roll it on a Gatherer.
