Monster Rancher 2/DX: Ranking the SUPERBOSSES! Rancher Rundown EP 18 

After all these years I had no idea that Muu was even a thing! I learned a thing today.

Loved the video, mildly upsetting that Muu is not up to par with a lot of the other super bosses. Though, given the second trip to Kawrea is unlocked if you have a Monster at B rank and that is where you can get the slate, it is not entirely unreasonable to assume that is around where the player would him. For a B rank fight, he is more than enough to help you unlock ghost.

Not sure if anyone will read this or even care, I'm 32 years old now, I remember playing monster rancher 2 for the first time back in 2003, I live in brazil and found the game on a garage sale while traveling with my friend's family (garage sales are not so common here) the game was left by this old lady's son on a box before he got married and moved away, I watched the anime when it was on TV and had no idea what the game was about, the first time I popped it on my psone I was in love (me being to this day a big fan of raising monsters games, such as digimon, pokemon you name it), I spent almost a full 24 hours playing it non stop, my first monster, a Zuum called Zum lol died and I felt the blow, but then I was already infatuated with the game, I fought of most of the monsters on this list with a crappy POW based joker, discovering new things in this game was trully an acomplishment, specially because at the time I had no one to talk about it, I've been playing mr2 on emulators since that year, once a year, sadly my old psone was stolen some years ago (I still have some music cds I got from my mom which generate monsters I used to like) so I've been playing on emulators until last year when I heard about mr2dx comming to steam and I literally felt like a child again, come on, internet capabilities, I could really face other ranchers like I neved did in my teenagehood, felt good to be alive, seeing this list and recognizing almost all secret bosses made me realize how much time and effort I've put in this game over the years and I honestly do not regret it (like I do with some of my live decisions up to this point), I never comment on things, I'm not the most sociable guy or nor do I participate of online communities and what not, but if you read everything until here, my point is.... what an amazing game, aint it? (I've been playing the crap out of ultra kaiju hoping to unravel some secrets)

The lore behind Romulus (definitely never seen in mr2 proper after decades of playing), Moo from the gods slate, and the dx int/def swap is super interesting!! Good shid

Back in the day, my friends and I would be scared to encounter said Errantry bosses. We were dumb kids who at best min-maxed monsters and spam attacks. We NEVER paid ANY attention for the FIMBA tourney since the first time going was so easy. Didn't know the Holly ones were that tough! TBH a Muu fight in game would have blown our minds!!! Keep up the content!

Damn. This was really fun to watch. Honestly, having Muu as either a tournament guy or, the more interesting option, a _roaming_ super boss woulda been badass. Would explain the reason for the Slate to existe, and thus tie it neatly into the anime. A shame, but it'll be interesting to observe what comes next.

I'm not a Monster Rancher player but I appreciate the time and effort you put in to make engaging videos about its minutiae that even outsiders can enjoy. Loved the Wave Race rep near the beginning. Keep on keeping on.

I still remembered my first ever fight S-rank FIMBA-IMa meet when I'm a kid, I run straight into Akirel. Seeing his stats and I cried. At that time, I barely win A rank tournament, got lucky to win S-rank elimination with a lot of hassle, then the game slapped me into the face with Akirel.

I didn’t even realize blue Phoenix was considered a super boss when I played DX. I literally only went after it initially to be able to use blue Phoenix myself using my Kamui Tiger that I unlocked prior

these videos inspired me to give monster rancher another try. i played it once when i was younger and had a terrible time. i see where i went wrong and now i bought DX ready to have some fun. hope to see the competitive scene later on. thank-you again wallfather

Most being really strong compared to a lot of other monsters makes sense as he and Poritoka are in the Legend Cup in the anime and he's the champion.

I also love that the first time I realized FIMBA was off was my first fight against Shing. It was an alien concept for me to see a Golem have that much Speed. I just thought FIMBA was build different.

At least muu was the villain in Monsters rancher anime.

A part of me always thought that MRA2 Ragnarok was made with the idea of making the cut Muu a real thing lol although i have zero explanation for it beyond "theyre both superdragons" lol

The annoying thing about these guys for me is that it’s completely random. You could run into Bighands with your close to death god tier monster, but odds are also good you’ll run into Hopper for the 50th time. And reloading till you get them is sooooo tedious since you need to go through each of the errantry events even with skipping the animations

It's a shame Muu wasn't implemented into the game. Now God's Slate is a trash item whose only use is to allow Great to be a result in Kawrea Expedition if Fire Feather is unlocked in the 1st expedition

had no idea Muu wasn't in the Dx version.. That's a little saddening. Might have to try out hard mode though, didn't know their was one till I was reading through the comments, lol.

I wish someone made a mod where they include new monsters on the tourneys with believable stats and breeds..Maybe also include the original in cos i remember their names so well now haha.(my absolute fav is harrimaoh, in bahasa harimau means lion lol) Would be awesome if someone made new mons and stats we can gush on like having to fight an s tier kamui with insane stats named Silvers or something.

The saddest part of this is that I lost a streaming of a Ducken called Ducken Nukem!

This era is so god like because merchandising companies who supplied the money for development often just said make the sickest thing you can, digimon MR pokemon all follow this logic, we think of them as just games that happen to be great, buts its becase when japan do stuff they do it with the purpose of samurai and make works of art reaching out to god like adams finger, i am a weeb

So, is it true that 'Moo' was actually mistranslated from 'Muu'? What a dumb localization that was, and I could never make sense of it as a kid 🤣I'd have preferred the 'Mwu' romanization, although I can see why the US team would've balked at that. Cows go "muu" in Spanish, after all...
