Hi, I love your videos, you are a wonderful artist, wish I had your flow with a paint brush. I was wondering which brand of fabric paint you would recommend for painting on black cotton? Thanks so much for sharing your talent.
@FabricPaintingCoach
@FabricPaintingCoach Год назад
Thanks for your kind words 🙂 In general, you need an opaque type of fabric paint for work with dark fabrics. Since your project will be on cotton, you can freely choose any brand; painting on synthetics requires more careful choice. I can recommend Pebeo Setacolor Opaque, Kreul Javana Opaque and Marabu Textil Plus so far as proven paint brands for dark fabric, which leave clothes soft and have a nice color pigment. Painting technique matters a lot too, as well as the way we care for the painted design afterwards. Open course Fabric Painting Foundations gives a clear guidance at all important steps. You're welcome to join it 🌻 www.fabricpaintingcoach.com/challenges

Hi! Thank you for your very informative video. Just wondering if these paints work on spandex as well?? I want the same water color effect as you had on stretchy fabrics such as Lycra and power mesh. (Trying to paint leotards for rhythmic gymnastics) Any advice would be appreciated🙏
@FabricPaintingCoach
@FabricPaintingCoach 4 месяца назад
Hi! Thanks for your feedback, yes you most certainly can use this brand on spandex and as this video shows, they perform well when diluted! In terms of tips, I can add the following as I myself am a big fan of painting on stretchy synthetic textiles like nylon and alike: 💧When working wet on wet, keep a paper towel handy to quickly dab on excess water. Spandex, being a thin fabric, is very forgiving and lets us correct mistakes easily. 💨 Let the first layer dry, as per the usual technology. You may use hair dryer confidently as to speed up the drying time, since watercolor technique can take forever otherwise... 🥞Work with layers carefully. Here on spandex you won't be able to apply paint too generously, due to the fact that this textile is too delicate. PS. Remember, that diluted paint looks good on light colors only. Otherwise, best of luck with your project! Enjoy

Hey,just stumbled upon this Video!Really nice and helpful content.Quick question, can I use mont marte fabric paint for darker/Black cotton too?? Or only opague ones?
@FabricPaintingCoach
@FabricPaintingCoach Год назад
Hi, yes you can use Mont Marte for dark textiles as well as for light ones. It has a medium opacity, but can do the job. If you work in thin layers, by letting each one of them dry before proceeding to the next one, you'll be able to build a color and get a decently soft painted design. Good luck!

Hi… i have found your videos very helpful. I want start fabric painting too. I am from India only few of the fabric paint brands are available here, Fabrica and Mont marte. Based on your review i am going for Mont marte. Is this brand gonna make my fabric stiff??. Stiffness is the main concern for me. Can you pls tell me how is ur tshirt now? Is it stiff or good to go? Thanks in advance :)
@FabricPaintingCoach
@FabricPaintingCoach 2 года назад
Hi Anusha, yes t-shirt is soft, And was from the beginning. I painted another one as well, but this time without diluting paint with water, so this one also turned out soft👍 I'm still in the process of testing Mont Marte fabric paints on more types of textile, before making a complete recommendation, however so far, on cotton t-shirts it performed well. Wishing you lots of fun in painting on clothes, connect if you need any assistance 🌷 the Open course on www.fabricpaintingcoach.com should be most helpful at the begining of your fabric art journey, though.🦋

Oh, I really appreciate it! I'm actually working on a fuller review of this fabric paint brand, as time allowed me to get a clearer picture after several paintings. It should help get a better idea of pro's and con's . I hope I'll be able to publish it soon🙂

Did you use water?? Otherwise do I use this colour without water on any cotton T-shirt ???
@FabricPaintingCoach
@FabricPaintingCoach 2 года назад
Hello! Yes in this illustration I was mixing fabric paint with water (straight on the palette, but in a controlled amount), to make it more transparent and runny. And yes, for any other painting style you can use fabric paint (if it's fresh and not too thick) directly from the jar, without diluting it with water. Good luck in creations 👏

Can we use Monte Marte acrylic colors to paint cotton t shirt...
@FabricPaintingCoach
@FabricPaintingCoach 2 года назад
Hi, painting in this video was done on cotton t-shirt, so yes you can, but just to make sure, your talking about Mont Marte colors for fabric? Not their regular acrylics?

@@FabricPaintingCoach Can i use the regular mont marte color on painting the fabric ?
@FabricPaintingCoach
@FabricPaintingCoach 11 месяцев назад
@user-rn3hc2kr2s I suppose you can, there are people who prefer not bother with going for fabric paint. However, please keep in mind the results, that by using regular acrylics on fabric, the painting won't be as soft as when using mont marte fabric paint, and it will most definitely be somewhat damaged after rounds of laundry. Otherwise, if you're painting on shopper or anything that doesn't require softness and water resistance - regular acrylic paint is a go.
