We bought a container, went to New York to thinker about ocean plastic and ate 23 KG of suitcase-avocado! Support on Patreon: / davehakkens More news from our community: davehakkens.nl/category/commu... More info: davehakkens.nl
Can't wait to get involved. Just found a motor just need to find or make a gearbox to fit and I'll be well on my way to making the shredder. I'll post a video of the process when I'm done :)
I love the work you are doing Dave. Here in Australia a lot of discussion is around banning plastics from our lives, which I think is backwards thinking. If the world was following the micro recycling model of Precious Plastics, there would be NO Ocean Plastic pollution, because it would not be thrown away.
There is a lot more to it though. Plastic dust from the process can still get in our water systems and our soil. As long as there is plastic, there will always be plastic waste. Sure we should take up the micro plastic model as you call it, but we should likewise reduce our use of plastic all-together.
Absolutely no offense to Dave here, just in case you go out to find the sticker. Not actually on the Golden Gate Bridge (that's in San Francisco) It's on the Brooklyn Bridge, in New York City. (Hint: From the photos it looks like it's on the Brooklyn side)
Great idea to use shipping container as workshop. Have you decided how to set up new workshops, e.g. ship the contents and have the client get a container locally; ship a container already outfitted; or some other arrangement? I've looked into using a shipping container for my workshop, and in my area (Atlanta, Georgia U.S.A.), the cost for the small ones (20') is $2000. I hope that you can find them for much less than that!
Hi dave, i see jerry is using a nice mechanism for the mold closing, can you give us more feedback into CNC molds an that mechanism he is using. Thanks i really admire you and always keep update with everithing is happening in the community.
Hey Dave! I've been watching your plastic life for over a year now (incognito I guess) and have been greatly and deeply inspired (like all of your viewers). I'm excited for the fake nike shoe video because it's coming up soon! As an honest viewer, I'm wondering if you can entertain us with some pop-up videos every now-and-then, just to feed our growing enthusiasm for your expeditions each month! Thank you from Durango, CO, USA. :)
@2:56 He did not get it done. The use of an additional crane and also some additional managing to get the container under the overhang. That must have cost a fortune for a crane to lift that. How much was it out of interest? Just really nice for you to be honest as you are projecting as being ethical.
It looks to me like the crane was part of the truck, no? Also, theres enough of a gap between the overhang and the container to move it inwards so half of it is under the overhang as the crane is attached to the container by the middle point. Why would he lie about it?
Hi Dave. Awhile I go I copyed your plans and made a granulator, which now sits proudly in my shed covered over because Australia sucks and the minute you mention Recycling or Business no body wants to know you. So my start up of plastic recycling went nowhere other than doing my own little hobby stuff and breaking glass dishers in order to make flat surfaces. I even registered my business for 3 years and payed the $255.00 an for what? God I hate Australia and im an Aussie.
