In this episode, I adjust the needle in the slide of the carb for a slightly leaner mixture. Then I take the bike out for a ride. It is tail end of a snow storm. It's 10F with 21MPH sustained winds. There's fresh snow drifts on top of a thick layer of ice, but I'm determined to keep riding.

My broke ass finally got around to ordering the Runleader tach/hour meter/temp gauge for $23 total....I'm gonna test/compare temp probe accuracy with a digital temp gun & set it to a safe warning temp level. No more overheated/burned up engine 10 miles from home. My other crazy idea that just might work to save tires is. I found some Hoosier dirt track racing tires. I'm gonna cut a knobby tread section strip out & use tire/rubber glue & some tiny screws/nuts to attach it to the bald strip of a rear bike tire. I'm thinking in the summer, the tire tread won't melt away on hot asphalt. Plus it'll help stop flats & I hopefully won't have to buy a new rear bicycle tire every other month.

Nice video but your freaking crazy lol but I was young once to. Update on the phantom experament it kept running hot to I pulled out the phantom bottom and compared it to the yd100 bottom that everyone says there the same not totally the ports going into the bottom half are different I ended up fixing the blemish on the deck so it would seal another difference between the two is yd100 deck is just a little higher which means you'll have a bigger squash which means you'll run hotter so I got the original version 3 working and went and Bought some of the 2 stroke oil they recommended Valvoline real thick and it stinks But the engine runs cool and smooth just like a 2 stroke sapossod to run 227 degrees on a 80 degree day it was running 330 to 365 degrees on a 80 degree day and the only thing I changed was the bottom half and the oil crazy keep them videos coming I new that yd100 would run in that weather when we had our week in a blizzard a few years back here in Texas we fired our yd100 engine up and it ran but we looked like Eskimos we could barely move we had so many Coats on lol

I usually don’t mind winter but MAN do I want this one to end , I’m from Vancouver Canada a city just north of Seattle we don’t get much deep snow like y’all in the prairies but we do get tons of ice on the roads compound that with the steep (think San Francisco) type hills here it’s a recipe for disaster without good studded tires
@michaelbrinks8089

I'd take Vancouver winters over central IL winters....Get's stupid hot/humid in the summer here, then stupid cold in winter. Although I remember you guys had to brutal heat waves the last couple years in the PNW.

I hear ya. Ice and hills are no fun. For me, its the cold that's the worst part. When you can't inhale without getting a frostbite nosebleed, it sucks.

Greetings from Minnesota. Good video. Do you think that it could improve if the wheel was powered?

Sometime if your bike is feeling nice you can kick it into life like a dirt bike lift rear wheel and stomp on the pedal but it might be too cold to do that but it it works it would save you trying to start on ice
@pulsar2121
@pulsar2121 Год назад
I have seen a few folks on youtube be able to do that, but I don't have the knack for it. I just can't seem to get enough weight on the pedal to start the engine while holding the bike up with the other arm.

With my YD 100 I will hit full throttle let go the clutch and I’m starting to burn out everywhere in the snow slip and slide

I’ve thought about doing away with manual clutch an putting a centrifugal clutch like my Phatmoto has
@pulsar2121
@pulsar2121 Год назад
Centrifugal clutches aren't particularly great for low speed either. They slip and get hot if you don't get up to engagement speed. Ideally, I would like multiple gears and a lower ratio for first so I can ride at a lower speed without slipping the clutch so much.

I’m looking for a Nexus 3 speed to solve all my problems, and pull clutch an peddle on with my arse on the seat !
@randallchunn8286

Oh yeah ℹ finally got my recoil start fixed couple days ago! And a Center stand installed . That would Mean you would not have to push start your bike on ice 🧊 no more Or worry about it falling over on side stand. Push starting or peddle starting will reduce un needed wear on clutch too🤳

How much speed difference does having the 20 inch wheel on the back make compared to the og size?
@pulsar2121
@pulsar2121 Год назад
It's a significant drop. If I remember correctly, I went from about 35MPH with the 26" wheel down to about 25MPH with the 20". It's a better gear reduction than the largest rear sprocket you can buy.

My bike does not like the snow for some odd reason does not like to stay on. I think it’s an air leak.

Which bearing are you referring to?
@thecbc7658

@@pulsar2121 Maybe the crank bearing or the bearings inside the clutch assembly.

@@pulsar2121 Right about here you can here them 5:20. I could be wrong it could be a loose clutch.

Don't buy the pink pads broski! Buy the green ones, they're almost like a rubber and plastic they're all around way better than the pinkies
