Viva.

Hi Joey I love the videos you guys put out on Dreamonoids but I`m afraid I need to correct you on your tracking force technique. You must totally balance the arm that means getting it to float 1-2mm above the platter(or as damn near as possible),once this is achieved you then(with the spring loaded tonearms)use only the "side loaded down force spring" to set tracking force. You can tell if you`ve come close to balancing the arm as the Rega RB Tonearms down force spring is "fairly accurate" so with you been way out once you used the weighing scales it shows the arm was not balanced correctly,you should only be a few grams either way if the arm is correctly balanced. I hope this is useful to you & anyone else who may be watching your excellent content on youtube **Note** One can also apply tracking force without using the sideloaded downforce spring(some owners prefer this method as they claim they can "hear the downforce spring ringing when playing a record so when it`s "deleted" they get better sound quality"!). Anyway to achieve the deletion of the spring(whatever anyone says DON`T NOT PHYSICALLY REMOVE IT you`ll void your warranty!!)turn the downforce spring past "3gms" as far as it will go(spring now deleted)then balance the tonearm & set tracking force by "moving the counterweight only" to achieve the correct v.t.f. I`ll warn anyone trying this it`s a long way of applying tracking force....AND DOES NOT SOUND BETTER!.....just my humble opinion. Cheers happy listening people.

Thanks for the great info. You are correct about the floating which I just “felt” through because I do it so much. Thanks for the extra info! Also I like the tracking force setting info, good food for thought for those looking to tweak their setups a bit.

Hi Joey, what are those tools that you used to remove and attach the wires with. They look very handy for the job. Good and informative video.

They are a generic set of tweezers I got off Amazon, I tried posting a link but it didn’t work.

Hi. Would u please explain why your not using the anti skating? It's there for a reason, right? I own the P8/Apheta II combo, and iv'e learned that setting the anti skating lower than the TF, get's you towards the sweet spot. If your TF is set for 1.8 g the bias should be at 1.5 - 1.7 . So a bit lower than the TF is where the magic happens. But it various from cart to cart. But with Rega's own cartridges, i would apply some anti skating. But try it out for yourself, and maybe use a testing record for perfection. Cheers from Denmark

It’s a philosophical thing. We just don’t use it.

Hi Joey, my P6 came with the Exact cartridge. Would you consider replacing it with the Reson Reca to be a worthwhile upgrade?
@joeylopezphd
@joeylopezphd 3 года назад
This is a great question. I had a customer upgrade from an exact to a Reson and love it. He had an RP6. That said the Exact is a great cartridge. The Ania Pro is a great MC cartridge if looking to upgrade. So is the Reson Etile, we just got the Etile in and will be doing a review soon.

Just depends on the listener. Personal preference.

so whats changed , I was always told to remove the arm from the TT before removing the cartridge to avoid damaging the arm bearings , I guess you dont mind damaging the customers arm bearings
@joeylopezphd
@joeylopezphd 11 месяцев назад
I am not sure who you have man handling your cartridge on your turntable, but if you are beating up your bearing taking the cart on and off then you definitely shouldn’t be near a turntable working on it.

@@joeylopezphd I was told not to tighten the cart to headshell bolts with the arm bolted on the TT , I have no idea how you came about your reply , unless you didnt read what I wrote
@joeylopezphd
@joeylopezphd 11 месяцев назад
@@patthewoodboy right, you are correct most people do not know how to unload the bearing while using the torque wrench. Most people would place pressure on the pivot to tighten. But yes, if you hold from the head shell and are loose to tight you will not do damage to the bearing. However if you grab the arm and rely on the pivot point where the bearing is to provide stability while torquing, yup you can damage the bearing. It takes understanding of physics.

That's the most ridiculous weighing gauge I've seen in my life and being so big is detrimental to what you're trying to achieve
