The battle against the twin demons, Lechku and Nechku...time to stop their reign over Kamui! Copyrights to Okami belong to former Clover, ReadyatDawn Studios (for Wii port), and ultimately Capcom.
The game uses a sort of unique camera control for this fight, where it deliberately locks onto one demon, and you can switch between them by pushing the stick briefly toward the other. The lock-on effect is used in other boss fights, but this is the only time you have the switching effect.
They are a pair of silver and gold time-manipulating clockwork owls with top hats, monocles and canes. There is no need to question this, it's just cool.
There is nothing better in music than when time’s involved somehow with the story and the music reflects that with mechanical clock sounds. That’s probably not true but I definitely really like it.
These guys were some of the weirdest bosses I have ever faced in my time playing video games. Two clockwork owl demons with top hats, monocles, walking sticks and evil mustaches on a snowy mountain in a game heavily based of Japanese folklore. This track practically captures the fact that aesthetically they should not be in this game due to how different it sounds compared to other tracks in the game.
The stronger the demons become, the less animalistic and natural they look. You're right, they don't belong, and neither does Yami. The whole point is that you're fighting things which shouldn't exist, alien creatures from beyond the sky, and the artists express that by making each boss's design increasingly artificial and mechanical. Lechku and Nechku are the demons closest to the source, Yami, and they show that by having metal body parts.
@@Quantumironturtle And the battle right before these guys was Ninetails, who lived in a very mechanical based palace. Never really thought about it like that until I read it! Time to play it again to see how many theories I come up with!
I heard a theory that their mechanical and western iconography might be a representation of the european merchants and the black ships that came to japan. In a heavy mythological, natural and cultural inspired game like okami, the idea of a foreign culture coming to commerce and "expand" their own culture can be seen as a kind of evil in accord to the themes of the game.
I love how with each boss, their respective themes become less 'fun' and more desperate and pressing. Crimson Helm is warm up exercise for Ammy. The subsequent bosses on the other hand, it's almost as if there really is a ton at stake. That and, the bosses just become more challenging, as they should.
You say that, but the first boss is a spider at the bottom of a cave with blood dripping off of her. Keep in mind she was also holding Ume/Jin captive, probably to eat him.
Shiranui showing up to hand Lechku his ass is simultaneously epic and hilarious - and of course the proper boss battle is probably one of my favorites in the game.
I did the same on the second phase. I wasn't using any rosaries and didn't want to get too close, so I just let Oki do his thing and deflected everything I could. :'D
I always thought that Lechku and Nechku would be like ice creatures or something Instead I'm greeted by two mechanical owls who both have a formal fashion sense Nonetheless a great and enjoyable battle imo
Well to be fair we should've expected the mechanical part, considering they are using technology. Plus what game is complete without a robot/cyborg battle ?
Idk if this is an unpopular opinion, but these guys have always been my favorite boss. I *love* the third arc with Kamui and Ezofuji, etc, so ending it with this boss was really awesome. It wasn’t my favorite arc (second favorite) but during Wawku Shrine it became my favorite.
These bosses were so ridiculously fun, I wish it lasted longer. Just all the different brush strokes and the way the fight plays out with you launching oki at them just makes these two the best boss fight in the game imo
i think the digital one may actually be a calendar. because i heard from somewhere that the two birds represent the inevitability of things to come, i'm not 100% sure to be honest
Definately the best boss fight in the game, especially when you fight alongside your past self. When I first saw past-Ammy make a tornado at the same time I did my powerslash, I flipped the f*** out :)
I love this fast paced music, makes me think of Amaterasu running at the enemy, dodging numerous attacks the leaping and delivering a fatal strike to the foe
@@thatonegaminglatias4345 Lol I'll explain for you There's a manga/anime series called JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and one of the villians has an ability and its name is The World (it's literally just called The World, it's named after the tarot card) It can stop time. Whenever he uses it, he shouts "The World!" but since a Japanese accent sounds a lot different than an American one, it just comes out as "Za Warudo" God I'm such a weeb
Ive had this song on my playlist for awhile and somthing always bugged me Why does it sound like 2 songs ITS CAUSE IT IS Its 2 songs fighting for the spotlight. Litterly representing the desperate battle between ameratsu and the twins. Two different styles, two melodies. Battling for control It make more sense when you think about the style The twins are VERY artificial looking, not at all like the other demons. Cause of how strong they are they dont look "normal" like lesser demons, so they are represented by the harsher melody
I definitely feel like it's appropriate for the Nechku fight, so short because it's a perfect show of just how strong Shiranui is that it didn't even stand a chance.
i really love the boss battle music in Okami. I can't listen nervous music for long time( like the boss battle one in Zelda Majora's mask) but this one is just epic... i can play it for hours!!!!!!!!! i also love the Battle of Orochi II and Battle of Ninetails
when attacking the silver one in the second battle use beads... and don't stop pressing square until it dies... THAT DOES NOT WORK WITH GOLD, SILVER WILL GO FROM FULL TO ZERO WITHOUT GETTING UP, GOLD WILL GET UP WELL BEFORE! NO EXCEPTIONS!
@@korkiwi so? There are lots of ports of okami now, but it can still be one of the best games of the selection of wii games in peoples opinion, nothing wrong with that
@@souronion906 I like the Switch port, personally. I like the fact that you have the option of activating the Celestial Brush by touching your finger to the screen and proceed to finger paint everything. 😂
No he said he wanted to create Ammy's character to be genderless. In that Ammy doesn't exhibit any signs herself that could lead one ot believe that the wolf's male or female just by observing Ammy's personality. However clues from other characters in the game indicate that Ammy's a girl. Specifically how the Gods refer to her as the mother to us all and the spirit in Gale Shrine identifies her true form as a fair maiden.
Just think about it! The appearance of the Twon Demons are just Epic, birds? with hat? monocles?, canes?, attack with the things are in the hat? and most important, have control of time, at the point of make more faster the time or just stop it? man, that was awesome! thats why I think this was an epic battle!
@Niobesnuppa She probably does, as she is a goddess in an actual religion. Amaterasu Omikami, and a lot of reviews say she is just in the form of a wolf.
That was the assumption most made, but that ended when they announced the Big Daddy (A creature from games that were originally PC and Xbox exclusive) on the roster. Aside from shitting my pants when I heard the big daddy moan during the E3 announcement, it also opened up the possibility for characters that are partially exclusive, or not at all. So Snake, Amaterasu, Sora and even someone like Ezio might feature in the game. Fingers so damn crossed.
Play at 1.75 speed and you have the Twin Demon Sorcery when the Owls go bonkers and like twist back and forth! XD This is awesome! I realized it after I beat the game like several months after I bought it way back and was like NIIICE!
