The folgers can is a charcoal canister, for fuel fumes. EPA crap, it was common to eliminate the smog pump and all of that back then. There are videos showing which idler brackets to bypass all that.

You have to put the treatment in the coolant to stop cavitation! Key to keep the engine clean baby! Can't wait for this idi build ! I never realized the Banks side winder Turbos are so expensive $3500 wow 2:17The black can is for vacuum! On the gas engine its on the other side! And the fuel tank may have a bad pump relay it will pump fuel from one tank to the other! It can be a serious issue because it will over pump fuel which will cause over flow! Its also hard to find new tank straps! The truck you have is a very nice find! In Pennsylvania that truck in that condition would sell for $15k just the way it sits all day long 23:51

Change all the fluids and drive it. See what you like and what you think. Get a feel for what you want to do with it. Now that I’ve had the time to watch this I’ll edit this. You’re missing the dust cover on the trans, dirt cheap at a junkyard and 4 screws. Just put a power steering pump on it while you’re doing the alternator but soak the crap outta the lines before you attempt it as they can be a bitch. There was a split second in those 7.3 years where they were a 7.3 turbo diesel, may have only been for 1yr. Half the crap under that hood you probably don’t even need anymore but I don’t know for a fact. Check into the brakes as I think they always felt a bit wonky back then on those engines. Otherwise have fun and don’t do any gay shit like put stacks on it, that old man farm truck look is sweet👍🏻

Looks like it's gonna be a good little project. You'll be surprised at how much you can do yourself if you have some time to throw at it. I always enjoy the learning aspect of a project almost more than the end result. Keep doing your thing man! Looking forward to the build!

the "folgers can" is your vaccum reservoir. It only builds when engine idles. controls your blend doors for a/c and possibly the front 4X4 auto lock hubs for front end but not sure on that year model.

Great video, looking forward to see the progress of this project. I built a 30x40 pole barn in 2021 because I was tired of working in the dirt or having to move around the wife’s car out of the garage. Best thing I’ve ever done at the house lol went pole barn because it was about 1/2 the price of red iron installed and I’m in south east Texas, no regrets and it’s easy to build onto. Keep it up Colt.

Badass brother!! Can't wait to see what all you do with it. My old 2000 7.3 ended up with a 96 7.3 back in 2014. Old farm truck only had 200k on her. Swapped everything over and she ran like a champ!! Miss that damn truck

Man that’s awesome. To fix that noise, instead of changing the straight pipe, try turning “emissions on” tune on. That might help..lol. Clyde made the ride and didn’t even get hit.

Get an fte resonator for the drone. I had that on my 6.0 and cut the drone almost completely out. My 6.7 I have a Donaldson and an aero turbine and it works just not as good. Both setups kept the sound there pretty good

I had one man Banks make a bolt on Turbo setup you can find them o line but shit now you could probably find something newer and nicer I can’t wait to see this ol beauty come back to life 👍🏻💪🏻🇺🇸 Edit: also you can also adjust the fuel screw for free and it will roll coal and grab you a camping propane torch and run it on the door panels very quickly or a heat gun will work as well but that will make them look new again but don’t leave it in one spot for long you have to live quickly 👍🏻

I'd take the body off that thing, send the frame for powder, get the body sprayed to match the ol 6.7, put some black 17" methods and 35s and be rolllin. It'll cost you more than the truck did but dang will it be nice.

I thought the 55k miles sounded suspicious too but explains if it was a ranch truck. 55k miles on a ranch will make a mark on it for sure. Steering wheel looked decent as well, not too much wear.

That is a great truck, congrats. Give it time, once you have covered everything else, you might put a turbo on it.

That fuel switch problem, is probably the selector valve down on the frame rail. Easy swap.

i have the stock exhaust gutted and a 4" electric dump on the down pipe. Was a tricky welding job but you can turn the loud on and off but even on there no drone just pppsssshhhhwhhaaaa psssttt

I have an 88 F350 7.3 with an ATS turbo. It’s a single cab 5 speed. Dawg you can straight up have it if you come get it. It runs but is ugly af. Im in Houston Texas

Just put a muffler on your 5" pipe and let it roll. I had that set up on my last 6.7 and it took that drone right out of it.

So the hardline being replaced with a rubber one has to do with the fuel tank switch and that switch is a common problem and belive it or not is really fucking expensive and ima keep it real with you build a big ass shop because before you know it youll be pouring a slab trying to make it bigger
