My 2001 Saab 9-3 Viggen! 

I was never really excited about Saabs, but my friend got a 5 door Viggen, overhauled it, installed some performance upgrades, let me take it for a test drive and it surprised THE HELL out of me! I couldn't believe how quick it was! This is without a doubt one of the coolest, rarest, most unique cars of all time! It's because of his car I gained so much respect for Saab! I still can't believe they went out of business, GM just ran them into the ground. I've owned a few Saabs myself and had some people ask me why I like them so much, they have a bunch of choice words about them, heck some people have no clue what they are. My response is always "If you want to understand Saab, you have to drive one."

Bought an ' 02 SE convertible for my kids a few years back and what a joy it's been. Not quite the fun as when compared to your Viggen but we love and work on it to keep it alive and kicking in sunny SoCal. Thanks for sharing.

Wow you got a great deal. 4k for a low miles viggens that's in mint condition is great. I definitely over paid for mine. To give you some perspective I paid 3,800 and it is nowhere near this condition, it has 220k+ miles and it is modded which imo devalues the car a bit. Granted it does have some good mods I have a Mike D tune as well and also the solenoid thing deleted as well. Viggens rescue kit but I don't have that 6 point subframe brace. Definently want it this summer since the torque steer is still nuts. Also has a shotty exhaust someone made that will need to be redone. But when you see a 3 door first year lighting blue viggen it's hard to pass up, they're so gorgeous in that spec and in my experience quite rare. I wish you luck with the car, sounds like it's in good hands and will be kept mint so long as you own it! You ever go to any of the meets around New England?

Wow....$4k?!?!?! NEVER SELL IT. Man you hit the lotto. The seller had no idea what he had. I have it's twin. Totally amazing car. It would have pulled 12-15k on Bring a Trailer. One tip, drop the oil pan and change out the 3 orings. I put an oil pressure meter in it and found it idling at 8-10psi with only 64k miles. Swapped the o-rings(they were shot) and it idles at 22psi now. Very common killer of this gen motor. After that, check into genuinesaab's items. Mine has them all and set at a stage 3 on stock clutch with no slipping. Pulls like a beast. An LSD is a must at that level, since she will break both loose all the way to 45mph by just matting the pedal.

I have a 2001 Viggen 4 door and it's fun to drive. 92,000 miles. Enjoy!

I just bought a 93 se convertible with 35,000 for $4500. Don't know why these cars don't hold any value but hey....I'm going to enjoy driving it for years to come.

with such a small modification, these engines would have beaten the M3...for 300$ I made my Saab so much faster and more HP them the M3
