You're so lucky to get an NG 95! Here in Australia there's about 20 of them so there was never any for me to buy so I got a 93 Aero. Subbed to your channel, or should I say SAABed :)
welcome back! You're lucky to have a NG9-5 aero!!!! One of my dream saabs. Excited to see the updates on the SPG restoration!! Peeped a Hyundai Veloster turbo headlight in the back. I used to have one back in the day. Great fun, cheap turbo funny car it was haha
Appreciate the feedback man! I couldnt be happier with my 9-5!Correct about the headlight haha! It was my brother's gfs car. She hit something and broke the headlight.
Dude why is your trim neglected. Blacken that shit back up bro. Great car. I had a 9^3 SE convertible Viggen look 4 years ago now a LR 5dr and before that 10 others..... C900T still rules.
Nice Saab story my friend! Sound isn't tool loud w/o the muffler. Great find for you! Yup, keep it forever... Or sell to me someday lol. Bought an ' 02 SE convertible for my kids a few years back and what a joy it's been. Not quite the fun as when compared to your Viggen but we love and work on it to keep it alive and kicking in sunny SoCal. Thanks for sharing.
I just bought a 93 se convertible with 35,000 for $4500. Don't know why these cars don't hold any value but hey....I'm going to enjoy driving it for years to come.
The SPG is cool. Had an 89 with the bigger injectors and Swedish Dynamics APC upgrade. Around 240hp and 2600 pounds, it was very fast on boost. No LSD made it a sudden lane changer when boost hit. You could mat it from a stoplight, and it would feel like a 4 cyl until it hit 3800RPM, and then all hell broke loose with a big boost whistle, the front end lifting a bit and alternate tires breaking loose to red line in second. Unruly monster, definitely the uncivilized psychotic Dad of the Viggen. Plus that Darth Vader look with the whaletail, a set of 9000 Aero rims and the rear window louvers. Never should have sold it....
Wow....$4k?!?!?! NEVER SELL IT. Man you hit the lotto. The seller had no idea what he had. I have it's twin. Totally amazing car. It would have pulled 12-15k on Bring a Trailer. One tip, drop the oil pan and change out the 3 orings. I put an oil pressure meter in it and found it idling at 8-10psi with only 64k miles. Swapped the o-rings(they were shot) and it idles at 22psi now. Very common killer of this gen motor. After that, check into genuinesaab's items. Mine has them all and set at a stage 3 on stock clutch with no slipping. Pulls like a beast. An LSD is a must at that level, since she will break both loose all the way to 45mph by just matting the pedal.
Hey i have a question on these sprees 1985-1987 is a premix required on these every time you refuel it or does the oil tank do the job automatically meaning you don’t have to pour anything in the fuel tank?
Nice car! I have a 1998 GT that I'm refurbishing. It looks just like yours. Mine has been on the side of my house for 12+ years, 100% stock, paint has never has been buffed, but does have some sun fade. I'm hoping it will buff out with great results like yours. At the moment the T45 is getting a serious upgrade, also putting in all new rubber bushings and suspension components. The engine is getting ported PI heads, intake, cam, keeping the exhaust stock. The gearing is tuff, still deciding: 3.55, 3.73, 3.90, or 4.10. At fast freeway speeds, what RPM do you think is acceptable? leaning towards 3.73 or 3.90. I almost wish I could do the engine with cam first, to get a better RPM feel of what gear would fit best, but while I have the trans open, will be changing the speedo gear for the differential change and don't want to do twice. Plus its easier replacing everything when it's all apart (Its the replace while its apart syndrome). The sn95's aren't popular, not the fastest, but is a great value, that is a spirited driver with true character. For me, a true DIY mechanic, better than spending a ton of money on something new with a little turbo engine.... Although I do like Kawasaki super charged sport bikes! Thats literally apples vs. oranges...
I was going to put a 3:73 in mine if i still had it! I feel that is the most popular gear that people put in these cars. I know alot of people put 4:10s in also but that probably id pretty harsh on the highway. Id say 3:73 is your best bet. I definetely miss this car. It was a blast. But trading it for a truck matched what i needed more sadly
Hi! Have you installed those seats into your SPG yet? I assume you fond some problems to make the base fit to your car?? hehe.. Those 9000 seats have an other base and seat bottom then your '89 car. (At least if you dont have passive seat belts) If your car was 1990 or newer, the 900 seats are the same as in the 9000....and the seats would be bolt on...
Hi! When you had the drive shaft out, you should also cleaned up well in the drive shaft tunnel, and the steering rod tunnel. All the dirt you have in there makes those tunnels to one of the worst rust spots on this cars. Clean it up. If you have some surface rust, clean that up and put rust killer and body protection spray or something in there... Did you try to unscrew the wheel centering pin bolt with a wicegrip plier before you cut it off? To cut it was some of the worst thing you could do...hehe Now it is even worse to get it out. The stuck torx screw you could use a very thin disc on the 5" angle grinder and make a cut that you can use a big flat screwdriver. If you have new good tires, you should also done a wheel linement after this job. If not, you will wear out the tires too fast. If it was only the CV joint that was toast, you should not need to replace the entire drive shat and the inner tripod. Its possible to buy only the CV joint alone. Keep up the good work... SAAB on pal...
I was never really excited about Saabs, but my friend got a 5 door Viggen, overhauled it, installed some performance upgrades, let me take it for a test drive and it surprised THE HELL out of me! I couldn't believe how quick it was! This is without a doubt one of the coolest, rarest, most unique cars of all time! It's because of his car I gained so much respect for Saab! I still can't believe they went out of business, GM just ran them into the ground. I've owned a few Saabs myself and had some people ask me why I like them so much, they have a bunch of choice words about them, heck some people have no clue what they are. My response is always "If you want to understand Saab, you have to drive one."
Wow you got a great deal. 4k for a low miles viggens that's in mint condition is great. I definitely over paid for mine. To give you some perspective I paid 3,800 and it is nowhere near this condition, it has 220k+ miles and it is modded which imo devalues the car a bit. Granted it does have some good mods I have a Mike D tune as well and also the solenoid thing deleted as well. Viggens rescue kit but I don't have that 6 point subframe brace. Definently want it this summer since the torque steer is still nuts. Also has a shotty exhaust someone made that will need to be redone. But when you see a 3 door first year lighting blue viggen it's hard to pass up, they're so gorgeous in that spec and in my experience quite rare. I wish you luck with the car, sounds like it's in good hands and will be kept mint so long as you own it! You ever go to any of the meets around New England?
@@DylanEggert0812 I hope so, one of the few modernish saabs that actually appreciates in value lol. I've heard of that show but have never gone. I definitely will try to go next time they hold it, maybe I'll see you there
@@DylanEggert0812 the stock ST might get a stock Vig off the line, but in second gear it's not a close race. My ST3 rolled an 04 Cobra from 20mph launch to 70 by a couple car lengths. He was really pissed and would not even look my way at the next stoplight. Cobra was loud as hell, but could not keep up. NEVER SELL.
Did you ever figure out your moisture problem? I had a '99 9-3 do the same thing, and it ended up being my taillight seals. Nice car tho! Yours has a few rare, "1999 SE"-only bits I see, such as the armrest & heated rear seats. Take good care of her 😉
Ive just been driving it! Only thing ive done is put a bbk offroad h pipe on it since this video. Ill make a video of it soon i have just been really busy with work. Havent had any time to make videos! And thank you i hope you are doing well also!
Do u still have this car...It’s beautiful, it’s the only color green that I like in any car...It’s like one of the shades from the Ford mystic colors...
Thanks man appreciate it! I got rid of the turd red mustang. But i got another one thats not all rotted out. I do want to put this engine into it eventually
@@DylanEggert0812 I was wondering how long it was gonna take you to get discouraged with the rust and punt it. looking forward to seeing you get another mustang and put that engine in. also subbed.
