This is the video I made about my AVM story. Hopefully I will be posting more videos soon! My AVM is congenital, I was born with it at birth and hopefully it won't be passed down.

Allison, you are amazing! My AVM was discovered incidentally, so it never bled. But the surgery to remove it 9 years ago left me with severe depression and an utter inability to make important decisions and take big steps in life. But your story gives me hope :)

Finally I found an avm survivor I can speak to! My sister just had the same scenario you have just described, but this just happened on Monday the 8th. I live overseas and am trying to get everything done to move back to the Dfw area where she is now. She has just given birth to her third child on the 3rd of August and this happened to her. She made it past the 24-48 hour "if she makes it period" she is mentally listening to directions from the nurses....now we just wait till she wakes up. Having you here has allowed me to breathe. Thank you so much! I will message you with questions and caregiver advice when I finally move back.

Thank you so much. I feel sense of community who suffered an AVM (or any brain injury) and still not giving up with our lives. 😊 I haven't made another video for quite awhile because I went back to college (PSU) with a tutor to finish my degree. I'm very close to graduating! Hopefully I can make another video that talks on the difficulty going back to college and tips on how to succeed.

Good on you Allison. your angiogram looks very much like mine, AVM on the carotid artery pretty deep in my case so no operation - but no bleeds either. Finally obliterated with gamma-knife after living with it for nearly 20 years. When first diagnosed there were no resources like this, and few people in New Zealand that had a similar experience, so I toughed it out alone, with only grand mal seizures for company - lost my job, partner, quite a few "friends" and really struggled. I really admire you for your courage and commitment to others, making this video and helping out. Thank you : )

I had an AVM rupture too. I never had headaches or seizures or anything because of the AVM. I had 3 and one ruptured on August 30th 2017 when I was 14. I turned 15 a few months later. It’s been a year and a few days since and I am walking and talking and everything.

This is so inspiring. I also had an AVM rupture at 17 a junior in high school. My left side was affected as well. I'm currently in therapy recovering so I'm not going to school instead doing it at home. I just want to say thank you because your videos have helped me overcome a lot of challenges I've experienced. God bless you

My son"s AVM ruptured a few days ago. Paralyzed, left side. Looking for encouraging reports. How are you now?

@@dmanc53 I’m doing great! Still doing therapy everyday and have improved so much since I commented this. I wish your son a speedy recovery. Someone who helped a lot with home therapy is Dr. Tara Tobias from the Orlando Clinic. You can find her videos on RU-vid and she goes over exercises for all stages of recovery. God bless your family and your son.

My brain avm bled on the 5th of April 2016 it left me completely paralysed on my left side I I was put in a medically induced coma for 6 days I was supposed to be airlifted to a neurosurgeon about 1 hour away by car but could not because of air pressure to make a long story short the neurosurgeon told my parents if I was 7 minutes later I'd be dead I learned how to walk Again I can now run cycle sprint but my arm is still not 100 percent hope this helps x

My best friend just suffered from a stroke caused by an AVM. He is very lucky. He got stuck in 110 degrees heat in Arizona because he couldn't use his phone and his truck overheated. Lucky he didn't crash. After a month I need the hospital he is recovering very well. He has what seems to be similar to the Vision cut, on the right sides of both of his eyes. Did your vision ever get any better. Did you have to wear special glasses shown in one photo? I can definitely say that his vision is depressing for him and he cannot drive or move quickly. This is a long road. Any insight may help. Thank you so much for your time.

This was my experience, AVMs are never the same. This photo of me was taken at BIRC (Brain Rehabilitation Center) so the occupational therapist was helping me regain my vision. Some people regain their vision in a couple of months, personally that has not happened to me. I still have a permanent loss in both of my eyes. Because of that, I stopped driving for the safety of people around me. I think the biggest thing is be stubborn and determined, but be realistic as well. Theres the number of things I can't do, but a whole lot of things I CAN do. Please contact me if you have any more questions! Best of luck to you and your friend. Xx

My mom just had a brain aneurysm on November 21, the same things happened, today she is in rehab with occupation therapist, PT, and Speech Therapist, we're waiting for them to fully remove the AVM. 😊

Thanks for sharing your video! My husband and son have been diagnosed with HHT, and my son's brain MRI showed previous avm activity. Have you been tested for HHT?

Nicole Weise This is a genetic disorder, right? I have never been tested for that, but the Drs. said that my specific AVM is congenital

Maryse
