Being a sound guy, I second the clean audio comment. However it is possible that you just threw up a camera and used the onboard audio for something this simple, and I wouldn't blame you. I'm not really complaining but I'd like to share my knowledge, if it would help. IMHO It sounds like a gain staging problem. Like something is being gained too high because something is too quiet at a gain stage before it, therefor boosting the noise floor to the point we can hear it. Looking at your gear list, it is definitely not the problem (cheap preamps would also cause this). Just make sure that everything in the signal chain is hovering around -18dBs on average all the way down the line. Usually the last green bar before it hits yellow. If you bring up the volume in post, you bring up the noise floor with it. I wouldn't waste time with restoration software for a RU-vid video review. I probably would have just slapped a low pass filter EQ on it if I caught it in post, and just brought it down until it cut out most of the high end hiss and didn't negatively affect the vocal too much. If my comment helps someone, then I'm glad to have helped. Having said all this, If you seen the video I'm working on now, the video quality looks like it was shot on a literal potato. Like year 2000 phone quality bad, and it would be easy to rip it to pieces. But I don't have anywhere near the kind of gear you're working with. I wish. Maybe one day. I'll just keeping chipping away at it. ATM I need to get a decent computer to edit video on. The laptop I have now is not good enough. I'm looking at a used iMac 27" from 2019 or something similar. They seem hard to beat though, and I'm not an Apple guy at all. But trying to get into video is probably gonna turn me. I definitely want to get a GH5s. That seems like the right mix in a camera for me. I already have an older BMCC 2.5k from way back in the day, and it makes beautiful footage that I personally love, but no decent autofocus makes it impossible for what I'm usually trying to do, which is shoot video of small music concerts with bad lighting while also doing the sound. I need it to be decent in low light and pretty much have the ability to be left unattended for decent stretches of time. I Enjoyed the content, it was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks.

I appreciate the comment and the great info. Just to clarify, is the audio throughout the video bad, or just that opening section? The GH5s is a great camera for sure, and I'm sure you can find some great deals on used ones nowadays. Buying computers is tough these days, but maybe take a look at the M1 Macs. They pack a decent punch.

@@PhillipRPeck I hear it through the whole video, but is more prominent in the first clip for sure. I've been looking at the M1 macs, but I've heard conflicting stuff on it. Someways it's awesome and then others it's not fully compatible yet. But I like where that's going for sure. Smart move for Apple.

@@aholder4471 Thanks for the information. I mention the M1s just because PC components are so experienced and hard to find right now and for once, the Macs represent a decent value

Hi. Great video. Does the Metabones XL 0.64 work on the GH5s? I heard it vignettes due to the image circle not reaching the edges when shooting in 17.9. Thanks.

Thanks. Yeah, I had the GH5S and .64 XL and used the Canon 16-35 at 16mm quite often. I don't think it has any significant vignette other than what that lens has by itself. I'm sure there are quite a few videos on my channel shot with that combo at that focal length in 17:9

Hi Phillip! I`ve receinly bought gh5s and metabones 064. So, when I use tracking autofocus with any of my canon lenses there is so loud noise in it! Do you have the same when you use your gh5s with metabones in autofocus recording. Sorry for my English)) Thanks!

Hi HiHilary! I don't find that the autofocus works well at all and yes, that noise is normal because it seems like the lens is continually trying to focus but never finding focus. I wish I could tell you how to make it work, but I'd say that trying to use autofocus with the Metabones and the GH5 just doesn't work
