There are those of us out here in flyover country that also have water issues. I have a 1200 gallon tank in the basement I cannot refill in the winter for a couple of months due to the cold. I use your method but dont have a double sink. Two dish pans work. I heat my dish water on the woodstove, i turn my water heater off most of the time and save about $30 a month on the electric bill. I fill three 2 quart kettles and keep them on my wood stove so I always have hot water 'on tap' so to speak. I fill the kettles with the cold water that flows from the hot water tap before the hot comes up from the basement water heater. I shower in a manner my dad called a Navy shower, wet yourself, soap up and then rinse. I shower while standing in a large tote in the tub, then use that saved water to flush the toilet. To live where I choose makes a couple if small (to me) sacrifices necessary for a couple of months a year... Well worth it. Keeping a minimum of a two month supply of dogfood for my 5 dogs and feed for my small livestock is a must, and a lot more human food than I could consume in that time. I have gone as long as 6 weeks without leaving the property in a miserable winter, and the I went out just because I had cabin fever. Because of surgery involving bone graft and steel and titanium in my right arm I can no longer use a gas chainsaw, so I have a battery one, a GOOD one , expect to pay a good price for it, and an electric as in on the grid, log splitter, not cheap but does a great job. I just wanted others out there who would love to live a different lifestyle but are afraid they can't handle it it is not as impossible as the may imagine. I have been doing this for 26 years, and I have no intention of stopping at 76, I am still doing it, and no drs no scrips... I grow most of my food during the warm months and am sure I always have some kind of project to do. My shopping is done in the small town nearby, what the don't have I order from am a Zon. Did that so AI won't delete this... I do know how to spell it.
Another fantastic dish cleaning tool is the small, hand held scraper/squeegee that you can get at backpacking stores like REI. I have used the GSI scraper/squeegee for years. WHen the rubber squeegee part wears out you can use the plastic part as a ski scraper.
I'd live like that in a heart beat. Been trying to for years. Everytime I've saved up money to get land the land prices raise out of my range. When I bought a house they found a way to steal it in the ression along with my almost $100,000 in equity. But oh well we do what we can with what we have. I'll live vicariously through the worm & others like yourself until I find away. All the while my kids saying Mom your nuts! Ahaha. Aren't we all!😂congrats & you keep living just the way you want too sir. Just Like I'll keep growing corn in my back yard in the city. Ha!😊
@@krenee2266 I am a lady, we can do it too. We may not have all that muscle power but the female brain has more creativity and imagination, so we find a way to accomplish our aims. I think if you try looking in the boonies in flyover country you may find a treasure. Jus saw an ad that they are hiring no experience necessary, $20:an hour for food handlers at a Nestle plant in a nearby town. Houses that need some work here are well under100K, with a 40K income one could save a down payment pretty quick. People are moving to the rural areas and so are business and warehouses/supply services. Farmland has escalated but many tiny towns have houses with large lots. It is a different world. If one is young enough to work, more possibilities in flyover country. It is what America WAS... Hope you work things out and realize your dream.
It just makes me so happy to see Sara with you at the cabin. What a great match for you with the lifestyle you’ve chosen. Great to see you guys having fun together
I think Sarah's new nick-name should be, 'Ding Ding' 😂😂 Great shooting! You should do more vids together 👍😊 Here's a suggestion for you. How about getting yourselves a couple of asiatic horse bows, set up a 3D course around the woods and then do 'mounted' archery on the four-wheeler taking turns to drive and shoot 😂
I have the opposite if Sarah's condition, I have double vision that is corrected by my glasses, so I, like her, chose which eye to focus on, and I'm a natural with two eyes open shooting. Using a Remington Speedmaster rifle, iron sights, I can hit a quarter at 50 yards.
My eyes are the same way , but when i was young there were no real options for surgery . Not sure what it would be like seeing out of both eyes at once.
Plinking is so much fun! I know my wife & I enjoy it too. That is, once we figured out her dominant eye & she switched to shooting left handed & was hitting everything. Great video you two!
If you crack your eggs into a bowl filled with half white wine vinegar and water. Leave them for 10 minutes. Then place them in simmering water the eggs will stay together better.
I can relate to Sarah. I was also born with independent vision, although my eyes turned out. I am right eye dominant. I was never any good at moving target sports as a kid. Like tennis, badminton, and baseball for example. No focal point. Although, I do pretty good at golf. Ball is stationary. I am also a natural shot. Never thought of it as a super power though. LOL. Unfortunately, in my country it is not easy to have a pistol and target shoot. I miss living in SC. I also, am a pretty decent artist. Love the pinging and exploding targets. I used to use a pop can filled with water to get the explosion. Kids loved it when they got to shoot. Keep on having fun shooting your pistols.
Is it Me? or maybe you can tell us, when you say you're short of water, when you are surrounded by SNOW? Perhaps it's not the thing to do?, or to much work?.
Yeah it's much more work to melt the snow than it is to go into town and get buckets from the lake or just go to his brother's house and fill his gallon jugs from the tap if he really needs to
Love it when Sarah visits! I also have eye issues and have no depth perception. She explained it very well. I had a team of eye doctors use their equipment to give me depth perception. They had me try to walk down a hallway. It was so impossibly weird to even try to move. I couldn't tell how far away anything was even the floor to try to walk. They were laughing hysterically. It was a really bad experience. Love you Sarah!
Thanks for the video Ryan. I have a Reolink cellular security camera. It usually works great except that the battery won't take a charge from the solar panel when the temperature is below 35ºF AND at around -20ºF I think the battery stops producing power. Sometimes the camera shuts off and I have to reboot it manually to get it to start working again. This would not be a major problem except the camera is mounted 2,100 from my home at our fishing shack in the Northwoods of Minnesota. 84K
Magic Eye.....I remember the first time I saw it.....blew my mind. Love all your videos....but....I really want to see you build that kitchen. No hurry....just saying. Love supporting you on Patreon. 👍👍👍😎
RYAN SARA is Great at shooting !!! RUBY is a cute little Puppy so sweet she is !!! A friend of mine had a puppy like Ruby and I called her Killer !!! That is normal for lazy eyes Sara !!! My First Born was with a lazy eye we did the patch on the eye first then surgery for her !!! Worked great for her !!! Just do what is better for you Sara that is what I told my First Born !!! Keep on going there it is fun with the channel here !!!
try making poached eggs with clingfilm if you put the film in a cup crack the egg in it twist the top of the film take it out of the cup and put it in the boiling water you get more egg less mess and you can use the boiling water for somthing else.
I was thinking of having hash and eggs for breakfast tomorrow, thanks for the info. I actually buy the heavy restaurant cling wrap . Should work really well.
Good morning.... Just a thought....for you stove it may need a cleaning at the orifice.... Or inside the burner area.... Just thought I would offer some help seeing you provide me with a nice Saturday morning... Thanks. From Minnesota... Now to get ready to go outside and make maple syrup..
@@sarawoodruff4357 For my first time i had some issues I learned from... I boiled down about 35 gallons and ended up with 7 pints of syrup... Mt eyes are now a mess from the smoke... But all good will do differently next yr and change the things i learned this yr.... Have fun at the cabin!!
Check the settings on your camera, some of them have what is called a check-in photo that takes a photo at certain times to let you know that the camera is working,,, I have some that takes one every time it is time to up load. Like every 2 hours.
So it’s sounds like Sara answers the comments. I found ringworm a couple of months ago and just finished watching all of them. I’ve learned/enjoyed so much. I have aa off grid cabin in upstate New York. I have 200 acres and bought a chainsaw mill. We don’t have the softwoods like cedar, but plenty of maple, oak and hickory. I bought the helmet he uses and several other things. I learned a few of his tricks, like putting a warm bottle in an outdoor cooler to stop it from freezing. The question that I have that he never talks about in his videos, not to be gross, where/how do you guys do your business? It seems like an outhouse would have been the 2nd or 3rd thing that he built.
The .22 Ruger Mark II series handguns are very reliable. When it jams it is usually an ammunition problem. Most firearms have preferences of ammo. If you just buy the cheapest stuff you will have problems in most firearms. Some ammo have good reliability in a lot of firearms.
Try removing old stove parts and soaking them in something to remove "tar buildup" as maybe? that's what's happening? Worth trying at least once, Something like acetone?
This drama is getting too compelling. Now we're hooked. Time to find a producer and ramp up production. You two can help lead this lost generation back to sanity.
That fungus growing on the side of the Birch tree looks like a Birch Polypore. If it is you can make medicine out of it simply by drying and grinding it into powder and making tea out of it, or adding to tea. Used by Natives for a variety of illnesses. There are many videos of how to use them.
Your camera keeps going off because it is nao stable, I have been through this. Mount it on a big tree that is less likely to wave in the wind. Should solve the mistery!!
I harvest those conks/ artists brackets. Dry them out . Cut the base flat or add a flat piece of wood. Paint scenery and art on them. I bet you would love to get creative with them
Cool chicks shoot guns! I think that's all women that can look out of each eye at something different, so the can keep an eye on you to make sure you're behaving!
Chainsaws have been known to be able to cut through ice over a source of water. Sometimes people even fish through them. But in any event you can get to the water through the hole cut with the saw.
You have some serious competition called Wild Homestead he is building a log cabin in Canada while living in a tent like you use to do no couch or movies
Hey, love the worm! Really, bugs that are attracted to the IR light that the camera uses for night photos. The bugs passing trigger the cam. I have the same problem
Ok when are you going to do a shotgun and flying targets. You can get non-toxic/biodegradable clay targets and a 20ga shotgun which would be enjoyable for both Sarah and you to shoot. Get reloading supplies and reload the empty hulls. You can often get a relatively inexpensive Lee reloaded to do the 20ga shells and other components.
Snow makes real good non-potable water to do basic water chores in and only use potable water for final rinse of consumption/personal related functions. Snow can also be filtered and boiled to be used as potable water as well.
by the time you guys figure out you want kids, it will be too late. Too bad, you two really seem intelligent. We really are headed toward idiocracy. Good movie. That is what you guys should watch.
@@sarawoodruff4357 tbf he has longer to decide. For women, the chances of conceiving go down by half after 30. If he already has kids, I am sure he is super happy with your decision. If he doesn't, then he could still plant some seeds when he is 70.
@@tribalismblindsthembutnoty124Not that it's any of your business, but Ryan has no kids and no desire for them whatsoever. The fact that NEITHER of us wants kids is a huge part of our relationship. We both consider ourselves unbelievably lucky that we were able to find someone at our age who never had kids and doesn't want them. I don't know why people just can't accept the fact that everyone is different and not everyone feels the need or even wants to be a parent or why anyone cares how other people choose to live their lives. It doesn't affect you, so mind your business.
@@sarawoodruff4357 Of course, I didn't mean to pry. Forgive me please, I was trying to warn you off of a regretful future. In the past it was necessary to have children lest you become a beggar in your old age, with no one to care for you. Now you can just rely on the labor of my children and grandchildren to provide your social security and elder care. It is something that completes your life and its a shame you would be missing out on it, but please don't be angry with me for saying so.
Hello Ryan & Sara. Wish I was there to share... I taught marksmanship and shot rifle & pistol competitively in the USMC. It looked to me like both of you were hitting to the left of center most of the time. Maybe put up a target w/a black center (standard "bullseye" target) and just shoot @ it w/a full magazine. Then check to see where the majority of your hits are and adjust the sights. W/iron sights, you HAVE to be focused on the front sight! Your brain says, "NO! I have to look @ the target or I won't hit it." But, that's exactly wrong. Your secondary vision sees the target, while your primary vision watches the sights to keep them aligned. IT IS EXACTLY COUNTER INTUITIVE. One other thing. You said something about Sara going to the gym... A neighbor recently said to me that he thought he broke something when he went to the gym the other day... it was his will to ever go back. I laffed SO HARD!
Simple space saving off grid cabin Kitchen he a small indoor stove & cabinet with a small 4 burner propane stove with oven and drawer type sink to the left of it , in his small cabin ....I thought you might like to watch him do it and see the finished product. He ran the propane tubing through the floor underneath the cabin , His insulation was out to the elements......I wanted to tell him about your aluminum bubble wrap under the cabin to cover his insulation but I didn't ...so mice wouldn't get into through the floor ( I know your building an outdoor kitchen. but something like this might be good for the winter.) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dzaXz3skXnY.html black spruce
