John Farnham's incredible capabilities as a singer and showman so impressed Tom Jones, Celine Dion, and several other well-known and respected talents, who tried and tried to persuade John to move to the U.S. so his career would have a better chance to take off for the world-wide stage. John, however, had done a some tours that took him away from his wife and kids, and he didn't relish the idea of the increased touring that would be involved. He really struggled being away from his lovely wife (hence this song... "Burn For You"), and he also didn't want to uproot his family to another country to further his singing career. So he was content to work mostly in Australia, with just a few trips abroad. Can't fault that kind of Love, can you?
this man is an Australian national treasure. His cover of Help by the Beatles is awesome and his collaboration with Jimmy Barnes of When Something Is Wrong With My Baby. Pressure down is a nice faster one
ABSOULUTELY! HELP his version is amazing even got the seal of approval from John Lennon, I wish I could remember who the interview was with when it came up. Apparently John always intended for it to be sung slowly and more of a ballad but their record company made them speed it up. I remember first time I heard him sing it on Telethon for the kids hospital here in Western Australia in early 80s.
Thanks for clarifying that. I wasn't sure if it was about a Woman he was missing or about a daughter who isn't there anymore, like went away to college.
His wife was a ballerina . You have to watchhim Live, his interacting with the crowd is amaxing. Watch him with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, he is so loved here. His songs are all about life and love.
Check out his live performances especially with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. “Help”, “you’re the voice” “when something is wrong with my baby” “ a touch of paradise” “angels” “thats freedom” “please don’t ask me” and many more
Australian singer who has had hits in every decade from 60s onwards. Greatly loved in Australia where he is called The Voice. Was also the lead singer for Little River Band for a while and has performed with Tom Jones, Ray Charles, Celine Dion, Brian May and Coldplay, to name a few.
He is a true Aussie legend. But I do recommend doing his live performances. Even in his 70s now he is still amazing live. Help live with the Melbourne symphony orchestra is amazing. 🇦🇺👍🏻
'When Something Is Wrong With My Baby' with Jimmy Barnes, 'You're The Voice', his cover of 'Help' live, 'Pressure Down', 'Touch of Paradise', all the John Farnham please!!
Whoever is sending the John Farnham requests, PLEASE make the next one a LIVE performance! He steps it up bigtime when he is LIVE. Especially his cover of "Help"
Make no mistake, Farnham can go big as well. There's videos on RU-vid of him covering Led Zeppelin's Black Dog, and an AC/DC song. Both are awesome. Also the duet with Jimmy Barnes 'Something Is Wrong With My Baby' will knock your socks off. An outstanding voice - one of the best (and by all accounts a lovely human being too).
Do not know this singer, but I just am loving it so far! You are right, so sweet & soft. When he hits those high notes ….. awwww! Everyone wants to be loved that much, right? Wow! Thanks for turning me on to him, it was just beautiful! You look a little emotional Jay! ♥️The old white woman
@@alanjones1543 Thank you for reaching out to me, so nice to meet you! I truly see why you all love him so much, and I plan to look into his music more. Do you have any suggestions for me please? ♥️Linda.
@@lindagaudin9546 if you like ballads, try Touch of Paradise, One (from earlier in his career), Comic Conversations, Angels, but otherwise any live version of You're The Voice, That's Freedom, Two Strong Hearts, Chain Reaction , or his songs with Little River Band including We Two. Look on RU-vid for songs from his concerts with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. He can sing anything. The list is endless.
@@lindagaudin9546 you would love “when something is wrong with my baby” he sings it with another Australian legend jimmy Barnes. Also check out “that’s freedom” his cover of the Beatles song “help” live with the Melbourne symphony orchestra. You would love “angels” he sings with Lisa Edwards his back up singer, “amazing grace” “when the war is over”
His cover of "help" by the Beatles live with the Melbourne symphony orchestra is one that I highly recommend ,he is an amazing singer, you guys are the bomb keep up the great work
Must agree with Abe Tapata, the version he has done live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra of the Beatles classis "Help" is an absolute must. It would be good if you did a reaction to the Beatles singing "Help" and then play John's version. You will see what a masterful rendition it is, and I'm not denigrating the Beatles version in any way, after all, I am one of the Beatles greatest fans. And John Farnham sings it live. He is an Australian national treasure.
Im a Kiwi, and with the Aus/NZ rivalry even i love this guy ( and im a rock guy ). His voice, the power he has, but in this song, you see the soft brilliance as well. This guy can sing, his vocals are amazing.
There is another video of this song where it shows the guitarist - it is a live version and he mentions that he was one of the three writers of this song in regard being on the road away from their loved ones
The guitarist was Phil Buckle of Southern Sons who cobwrote multiple songs on the Chain Reaction album and then Southern Sons toured as part of the Chain Reaction tour.
Hey kids! I’m a neighbor & have been following you from the beginning. If I would ever run across you all I would be a starstruck Grandma. 😍😂 Seriously, you two are doing so well! I enjoy you very much. Congratulations!
This is a ‘goosebumps’ song. John Farnham is one of the most gifted vocalists ever period! The more the you listen the more you appreciate the gift that is ‘Farnsey’.
Angels is one amazingly beautiful song by John Farnham that you should really check out. Also his live version of Help sung with the Melbourne symphony orchestra is AMAZING!!!
Welcome to the Voice of John Farnham Aka - Farnsey This Beautiful Song is one of my favourites ❣ He has a massive arrangements of tunes 👌 other lovely tunes are - Touch of Paridise , We're No Angles , Love to Shine etc
No smoke and mirrors required for John Farnham. Arguably, his live performance of Burn for You even exceeds this gem. Incredible to say but check for yourselves. It's readily available here.
Musically, his tone hits every note with perfect pitch. His runs here are filled with extraordinary control. Few singers can control that swoop from high range to Low without losing power like he did. As a professional musician, I hear a trained singer - yet he rough and tumbled around his natural talent. Extraordinary!
You both look resplendent in your colourful tops today. Glad you like our "Farnsey" but you have to check out some live performances where the crowd and interplay with the band lift his game and bring out the naughty boy side of him.
Love your reaction to John (you should do more). Please try and stick with live performances. John really feeds off his audience. Others have recommended "Help" with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra where this really shows.
He's Aussie, national treasure. Sang with Celine Dion, Tom Jones, Lionel Ritchie amongst others. He's a suprise package. Personal fav is when he does his version of AC/DCs Long Way To The Top live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. He can do mellow, he can do heavy metal....just a voice. He is THE VOICE.
I suggested this here last week during the valentine day covers. So glad you picked it up. John started singing in Australia here in Melbourne in the 1960s, along with Olivia Newton John. He remade his career in the 1980s with an album called Whispering Jack. He was also in the Little River Band. His voice is amazing and at one point was in talks to front Queen after Freddie died. He didn't like touring though, as he had to leave his family behind and i think that is what this song is about. His wife was a dancer before they married. Suggest a song called Every time you cry, which he did with Human Nature.
Can’t say much on this track apart from its perfect ! The term you’re looking for is his falsetto when he’s gone from his main voice through his head voice which he uses just before that leap into his falsetto …. The other point is that the guitar is an electric.with a very compressed clean sound …..
Ah beautiful song, thank you for introducing me ☺️ also I loved how you let each other speak in this video, there was almost no talking over each other! It’s great because I like hearing what you both have to say about it ❤️ great vid, thanks guys x
Farnsy's a much beloved national icon down under 😉 Also a top bloke to boot! Seconding all the requests for John's amazing cover of the Beatles 'Help!', as it's a total 180 from the original (also worth a react if copyright allows), but also want to plump for reacting to John performing 'Playing to Win' (a song he recorded during his stint in the Little River Band, another bunch of Aussie music icons) live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. He is an incredible live performer and you need to see him in his true element on stage!
John Farnham is Australian rock royalty. His voice range is A2 to D5 - quite a number of octaves. He can sing anything. You need to watch him LIVE in concert. He is the ultimate showman, the mike master, totally energetic and charismatic with great interaction with the audience who are with him all the way. His concerts with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra are amazing and a number of those songs from the concerts are on You Tube. He never sort stardom in the USA preferring to be with his wife and family and disliking the corporate demands. For something the opposite ie., faster, check out "Playing To Win" at the above mentioned concerts.
Oh I agree. It's best to watch John live. His stage presence is fantastic. Such a wonderful performer & a humble guy. Also has an amazing sense of humour & rapport with his audiences. Check out Help, a Beatles cover, with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra & When something is wrong with my baby with Jimmy Barnes (also find a live version perhaps Hey Hey its Saturday an old Aussie TV Show). Great reaction 😀
Farnham was a teenage heart throb . Used to call himself Johnny Farnham . Had a couple of big hits in the70s Sadie the cleaning lady and a cover of the Beatles song Help . In order to be taken more seriously as an artist he dropped the name Johnny Farnham to John Farnham . The name he now holds
John F. songs "the voice", "Help" *Beatles cover*with the Melbourn sy orchestra, "when something is wrong with my baby" with Jimmy Barnes...(another Aussie legend). he has been preforming since the 70"s......
Thanks for the awesome reaction guy, this song pulls at my heart strings and is one of my favourites, but the live versions are so much better. Please react to “help” live next with the Melbourne symphony orchestra
You need to do a song he did with another australian legend jimmy barnes, song is called : something is wrong with my baby , then a jimmy barnes with joe bonnamassa : stone cold , it has what both you love horns and piano with a great solo guitar
A song I highly recommend is Jimmy Barnes John Farnham "When Something is Wrong With My Baby" the Live Hey Hey it's Saturday version! He's a true Australian legend!! This song always gives me chills. So glad you've reacted to him a few times now. Growing up in Australia he's a staple our parents raise us on!!
You ABSOLUTELY MUST DO "when something wrong with my baby" with another Aussie legend Jimmy Barnes. The grit and soul between these 2 will BLOW YOUR MIND!!!
I've heard lots of songs by John, but hadn't heard this one before. Absolutely, beautifully stunning. Great lyrics, and the pace and emotion behind them hit me in the heart.
John Farnham was born in the UK the Family moved to Australia when John was 10. He Recently had part of his Jaw bone removed due to Bone Cancer. I have been a fan of his since I was a young Childhood. I am 61 now
Never been a fan of John Farnham(my fellow Aussies are probably gonna hate me😄) but I've always had a soft spot for this song. What can I say, I'm a sucker for a ballad. ✌️
Ah, Farnham. A legend in Australia who is not as well known in the U.S. as he deserves. Try his stuff with Little River Band too. Songs like "Forever Blue, and The Other Guy." Further solo stuff includes "Pressure Down", "A Touch of Paradise", and "Two Strong Hearts."
I'm just so glad that this legend has been discovered by the world before it was too late!!! Vincent Van Gogh's work/paintings only came to light after his death!!!
Oh almost forgot, this is John Farnham at about a 7 as far as the power in his voice this is a chilled John Farnham if you want to see him give it his all at 11 check out his cover of Black Dog by Led Zeppelin which btw is only a soundcheck.
Actually Phil Buckle is the guitarist who not only played but wrote this wonderful guitar piece. Phil Buckle played with Southern Sons that had beautiful music in the 90s I mean Tommy Emmanuel is a legend Im a bit late to the reply but couldn’t help myself 😊
John is one of Australia's great legends. He's the epitome of what it means to be Australian. We love our families. He chose Australia and we didn't disappoint him just as he's never let us down. He's always been a mate when we needed his aid and we've happily lifted him when he's asked for our help. The reason he's our voice, is because he is us... The Aussie battler, authentically Aussie, honest, tell it as it is with no bulls##t.
As others have no doubt commented below. he is renowned for his live performances. Definitely look at 'Help' live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, originally by the Beatles, and also his live performance of When Something is Wrong with My Baby with Jimmy Barnes from the TV show Hey Hey It's Saturday. They are both awesome.
Hi Rob Squad, new subscriber from Australia, love how you covered a couple of John Farnham songs, this guy is a true icon of Australian music. I would suggest you do a reaction to his song "Angels" the live version. Love the song reactions, keep up the great videos. Cheers, Andrew
I love the fact that this channel is introducing parts of the world to John Farnham, The Voice, Australian National treasure. 🔥 been watching so many of fire videos, big fan fam!
May I also suggest a duet of John Farnham with another icon Jimmy Barnes, WHEN SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH MY BABY. Two of the best voices in the industry and from Australia
As a child of the 60s can tell you how much I love you finding John he is awesome and a really nice guy bless you for taking me back in time. Enjoy. If you have not already listened to can I recommend the seekers I an Australian.
He is our Aussie from down under. He is so down to earth, funniest sense of humour, kind and caring, just a real good person to everyone he meets. He met his wife as a teenager and they are still together and have 3 grown sons.
When listening to John Farnham, DO his live performances because he’s ridiculous! He’s our no 1 Australian singer. He IS “The VOICE”! My number one! He’s amazing live! Such a gentle soul John is! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ him!
Technically John Farnham is British first, as he was born there. However he emigrated to Australia as a child with his family. He became famous here and we Aussies have long adopted him as one of our own. We love the guy, he is great!
Thank you for reacting to this beautiful song, I believe he wrote this song about being on tour and away from his family. - A Touch of Paradise - Age of Reason - Playing to Win (technically “little river band” but he was singing lead on it).
You were asking who was playing acoustic guitar here. In the live version, it’s Phil Buckle and he’s visible there. As Phil was one of the composers of “Burn For You”, along with John Farnham and Ross Fraser, it’s very likely he played on this version.
I thought of another line of lyrics in the song Burn for you. When John says Oh I'm missing you I would like to hear John say Wish I was kissing you. I sing it in my head every time. Love you John everybody does. A happy Aussie about your age.
