My hot takes: -For the most part, pokemon models look better than sprites. I especially like the change of the Cyndaquil line to not constantly being on fire. -The Chikorita line is the best starter line in any pokemon game. -Galar’s music and sound effects in general are HORRIBLE and give me a headache. -Exp. candies are a lame mechanic. I can see why having them in the post-game is a huge quality-of-life feature, but KEEP THEM IN THE POST-GAME. You know a game is broken if you can get your starter to level 100 within an hour of receiving it. -The Roller Skates in Kalos are rubbish. It’s complete tosh that they’re MANDATORY to progress the story and that you can no longer run. ORAS giving you the ability to run without a grid if you used the D-Pad is significantly better. (Not sure if that’s a hot take) -Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon have the best graphical designs of any pokemon game to date if you play them on a New 3DS, what’s up with those outlines? (Again, not sure if that’s a hot take or not) -BDSP’s art style looks great. I get why people hate it, and I’d probably be happier with something more akin to what we saw in LGPE, but I goddamn hate the art style of SWSH so it’s definitely an improvement. -It’s fun to be a little bit overlevelled in pokemon, maybe 3-6 levels over is ideal for me. Feel free to leave some hate in the replies section!

YES!!!! I'm not the only one who is not bothered with HMs being used! I can't stand people who moan about B2W2 being too difficult but then they say SWSH is too easy.

The Mega Charizard X and Blaziken ones hurt me the most lol. I do agree with the Delphox one though.

5:55 I can see why that’s your hottest take, but I love HMs too. I feel like the mechanic was let down by Gen 4 in particular abusing it, taking it way too far. That’s one of the main reasons Sinnoh is overrated in my opinion, because if it weren’t for the ridiculous amount of HMs needed to beat the game, the mechanic might not have gotten the hate it has over the years.

3 things in regards to Kalos 1. X & Y were the first ever Pokemon games I ever played. And when I did play them I chose Fennekin both times because I loved Delphox so much. 2. I agree that Ash should end up with Serena. The two of them have so much chemistry that the other female companions just never had. (Yes that includes Misty) 3. Kalos in my opinion is the game that requires a remake the most. A remake with one single thing that needs to be added. According to one of the devs, originally Kalos was going to have some more added lore content. So why not add that content in the remake. Then we can get a more expanded experience and get some answers to the unsolved mysteries left by X & Y

I agree with most of these except that Dawn and Ash are the most compatible with each other (the chemistry is way too good tbh). I’m sorry I just see Serena being that one girl that would mature after having her first crush besides that ship is too one sided for my liking.

A hot take I have is that I think Emboar is pretty good and the Unovan starters aren’t the worst. I quite like them a lot. I only like the Scorbunny line except Cinderace and Galar easily has the worst starters.

I genuinely think you're the only person on this planet who doesn't like Mega Charizard X or Volcarona. Lol, I give you major points for loving Delphox though. It's such an underrated Pokémon.

My hot take/s: The Oshawott line and Rowlet line are the best starters. Gen 5 is the best of all. I'm a fan of X and Y, despite the post-game being only the Lumiose City mystery cases and no other post-game area. Mystery Dungeon is the best spinoff. I'm not into popular pokémon I don't hate them I'm just not into them but there are some exceptions (like Lucario, Greninja, and Dragonite). They say Blue or Silver are the best rivals but no. The friendly rivals are the best rivals. A friendly rival always got your back and they don't mind losing. A friendly rivalry is better than a bitter rivalry. And... Unpopular Take: Despite being one of the hated pokémon, I LOVE Simisage. It has a cool design, decent stats, neat evolutionary line, and good moves it can learn.

The point about the HMs makes sense. The problem for me is that adding that move to any moveset is so incredibly frustrating. Pokemon is also supposed to allow you to be creative and having multiple move slots taken up by HMs limits the ability to be creative with your team's moves. I think a happy medium would be to require HMs and keep the part about only certain pokemon being able to use said HM, but that HM will not be added to the pokemon's moveset. That way, you still need to have the right pokemon available and the team balancing is required but the moveset creativity is not limited, either.

thing with dexit was ; they took pokemon away while having no reason for it. just put them in the files and let people transfer.. now... if they had taken like 250 pokemon and made them REALLY REALLY good, in terms of animation. overworld behaviour.. like they appear in new snap.. i GLADLY miss out on 600 of these,. quality over quantity.. but they didnt.. they just cut them for no reason

Fair enough on the Gen 1 thing. I feel like a big part of that was that its simple visuals and non-existent story let people use their imaginations more. The more detailed the world setting and characters got, the more it felt like it wasn't YOUR personal adventure, but instead the story of a character.

Here is a hot take that isn't an opinion but actually a fact: The only difficulty in cynitha's battles is that she is over leveled, if we picked diantha's team and rised it's levels by 10 she would be the new Cynthia Cynthia being 10 levels higher than Aron is bad ballencing, not difficulty

I *REALLY* agree about your take on Kalos. I understand why people think it’s easy, and sure some of the rivals, tierno and shauna specifically, are unnecessary, but I think the story is very underrated. You’re also right about the anime, and I think was at its peak (that might be a bit of an exaggeration but you get the idea). The Kalos dex was ABSOLUTELY phenomenal, as it gave us a vast variety of awesome pokemon from old and new generations to chose from, a record breaking number of 457 pokemon in the regional dex, and my favorite pokemon gimmick being mega evolutions. Gamefreak actually took the time to focus on the pokemon they introduced in gen 6 rather than shooting out 150 new pokemon like they did in Unova, and the effort they made shows in so many pokemon. I find the fairy type to have one of the coolest concepts out of all typings as well, and it’s great the dragon type was finally balanced out. The starters are also nice, and while Greninja is cool, I think Delphox needs so much more attention than it is given compared to other fire type starters because of how unique it is. Gamefreak finally gave us a feminine fire type starter with a unique secondary typing and personality. One last thing about Kalos I have to say is I don’t understand is people’s problems with the art style. Kalos actually performs well at delivering us with the chibi style so many fans argue over. The region itself is also so well designed and I think it has many enjoyable landmarks. So overall Kalos is such an enjoyable region to me, and people have to quit complaining about it so much. Oh yeah and I also agree about your opinion of the rivals. I think the douchebag rivals are so overrated. I like rivals that are well written, have actual character development, and ones who aren’t two over enthusiastic but are somewhat optimistic, like Serena, Hop, and Bianca.

Hot take: Sword and Shield are the best mainline Pokémon games The best Pokémon game is Pokémon Dash Gengar is the best Pokémon of all time, especially the shiny Gigantamax Pokemon designs are better than Mega Evolution designs

- Gen 5 has the best Pokemon games. Even as a game, without Pokemon in mind, its the best. Triple battles and swap battles were really good. Not to mention probably the best music in any gen. If you disagree just listen to the Icirrus City theme. Also, the hate the region's Pokemon get is overrated as well, because if an ice cream pokemon is uninspired then so is a pokeball pokemon. - Also to grind some more gears, after Black and White, in terms of music, X and Y have the second best music. - Finally, nuzlocke, while being a good challenge, sucks the spirit out of Pokemon. That and over doing it with IV's and perfect pokemon obtaining. I understand getting the best pokemon is important for winning, but the game is about collection and becoming friends with your Pokemon so its kind of a contradiction.

Ash-Greninja is definitely overrated. Delphox and Chesnaught got completely ignored.

Omg I couldn’t agree more with you on the fact that it is boring to use busted super strong Pokémon, especially in-game where everything is viable. Like, come on, where’s the fun in using a Dragon Dance Gyarados in-game when you just know it’s gonna sweep the opposing team. And to people who say “But some boss fights are too hard without broken mons!” like literally, you’re in-game, the AI can be horrendous at times and the moves aren’t always the best. I would know all of this, I used Slugma, Ledyba, Yanma, Chikorita, Marill and Natu on my Soulsilver, all of whom are considered garbage and they can’t do anything. I had a lot of fun with that play trough and not once was I stuck at a trainer and I was never over leveled.

The reason people really like Gary and Silver was mainly because they were kinda jerks, which made you want to beat and surpass them, which isn't really carried over to the newer rivals at all.

My Hot Takes: -Order of starter trios from worst to best: Galar ->Kalos ->Unova->Johto->Kanto->Hoenn->Alola->Sinnoh -The Axew line looks odd to me. Idk why but Haxours face looks weird. Maybe it’s the beak it has. -My favorite gen was 4 - Infernape is my favorite Pokémon - I love all pseudo legendaries except goodra. Looks a bit too simple for one - Fire/Fighting starters were never repetitive it’s just that emboar looked wierd as a Pokémon - Never cared about the pkmn anime that much tbh not much of a show/movie person - I think new evolutions and babies are super cool and tie in older Pokémon with the newer gens. The only one I dislike is Probopass -Fairy types should stop revolving on being just “cute” or “girly” and start being more based on folklore and fae beings. Xerneas and Grimsnarl do a good job with that. - There is nothing wrong with Pokémon fan games. As long as they are free I see no problem with them

honestly In my opinion, the gens with the exp share/ remove grinding are better than the ones that don't, because I'm impatient as hell and I don't have the patience to grind my team in pokemon games that don't have exp shares cause I will likely instead have an over levelled starter and a few tm slaves but that's it.

I believe Voltorb and Electrode are supposed to be Pokemon's version of a mimic, the fake chest monster seen in other RPGs. We have essentially four now, with Foongus and Amoongus being treated as such, but I'm pretty sure that's what they're supposed to be. I will also admit that "inanimate" Pokemon are more creative (most of the time) than living ones. Oh, hey, an Ampharos fan! I haven't seen one in AGES!

The Scorbunny line carries the whole gen 8 starter line, I would say. Sobble's middle and final evolution were underwhelming Grookey's was just... eh... But then I really grew to love Scorbunny, Raboot, Cinderace like... a lot! Seriously, Cinderace is my second favourite of all time, only topped by Flygon
