Because he's become known as a front man for hire. Basically a studio/tour musician paid by the hour. Priest, Iced Earth, some temporary super group (they always fall apart), and now he's basically back to being a cover artist again with K.K. Perhaps not his fault that this is the path his career took, but he's pretty much the office temp who fills in until the real thing comes back.
Great interview! Tim is one of the best metal vocalists. I saw him with Judas Priest in 1998 and look forward to seeing him with KK's Priest next spring.
Dude I really like your content but you ask the same questions all the time. Maybe diversify more inclusive related questions to the particular interviewee 🧐 rock on 🤘🇦🇺🍻
@@chaoszine Cheers mate, many years ago I interviewed some cool bands like hammerfall etc & found that the questions varied & specific to the artist to be very engaging. Cheers Metal Brother 🤘🍺
Ripper is a great singer but he's no Halford or Matthew Barlow. That's the problem. He became known as a temporary replacement singer you could call when your actual front man decided to take a break. It also didn't help that he joined Priest at a point when a large portion of their fans were pissed about Halford leaving. It's very much the Iron Maiden-Blaze Bayley effect. Great singers in their own right but they showed up in the right place at the wrong time.
@@WolfHeathen It's like you said truths and then pissed over your own beliefs. Rob is probably more versatile in his vocal delivery and changes in his voice from rocky bluesy stuff and metal... but he isn't as sustainable as Tim is with his tone and power. Tim is a lot younger, but seems to be more consistent live even when Rob was younger. Barlow is also very versatile live, but is also human. Barlow has a different timbre to his voice. I was fortunate to open for both Tim and Barlow. It's like you wanted to be honest, but get digs in. Tim isn't just SOME backup.
