My dog, Scratch, a border collie, has learned how to say "Hello" fairly coherantly. We're still in the teaching process, but listen and see how smart this sheep herding beauty is already!
More accurate then alexs' comment over here thinking the dog is changing its tone all the time. Not that it matters at all doggo is prolly dead by now. But alive in our hearts and youtube.
Can y’all stop commenting this stuff on every old animal video? It’s depressing and I highly doubt the owners appreciate it. When my dog passed I couldn’t stop thinking about it and it still hurts years later, I definitely wouldn’t want comments reminding me of it. Especially on videos like these that are happy memories. If the owners announce the passing in the comments or something then that’s different, but just commenting it unprovoked makes the video seem sad.
Why is Donald Trump pretty and I am not? But why does he only have a wife but I have TWO HANDSOME GIRLFRIENDS who I show off in my masterpiece YT videos? Do you know the answer, dear wub
@@overhauledunderpaid6469 borders are most likely to past between the ages 12-15 and this dog was already an adult maybe even on the older side so most like they had passed away or this dog would have might been in their twentys
They are uber sensitive to the phone/camera. Mine needed about 7 years to allow herself to be filmed. She could be down the hall 30 feet away doing something cute. I could silently switch to vid and she'd immediately stop what she was doing. My prior BC was taught to vocalize, Hello, Mama, I'm hungry, I love you and No starting training at 6 months. Hey- How do you ruin a border collie's day?... Re-arrange the furniture.🛋🪑🪑🛏💫👀🐺
@@howlingwaters2741 oh wow, that actually explains a lot. Maybe there is an infrared light that comes on when you use a phone camera. And I guess dogs can see it, but we cant??
They really are amazing dogs. Seanthesheepman channel has probably the most impressive videos I've ever seen of border collies. Check it out if you want to see the happiest dogs on earth
New research say that expressive eyes have evolved in dogs because we like that trait. So our dogs genuinely can use their eyes to communicate with us in a way their ancestors couldn't. So many generations of breeding the cutest gilave them these expressive eyes and brows. Wonderful.
yeah but did you know that cows and pigs are equally intelligent and capable of experiencing reality? Pigs are literally on the same level as a 3 year old human. Stop paying for animal abuse. Go vegan.
@@ooffactor She is not destructive and she does love attention. However, we got her when she was only a couple months old so we were able to train her from a very young age. She was very easy to train due to her intelligence, but that intelligence also got her into trouble when she was a puppy. For example she enjoyed chewing the corners of our walls because liked licking the stucco, and she realized that the carpet had texture underneath it so she chewed a hole in the carpet so she could rub her face on the material under the carpet. She grew out of it after her puppy phase though and she is not destructive anymore. Another thing to keep in mind is Border Collies need mental and physical stimulation. She enjoys puzzle toys and one of her favorite games is find the treat, which is when we let her sniff a treat and go hide it in the house and then release her to look for it. She goes outside three times a day to walk and play. So long story short, they take work but their intelligence and loyalty is very rewarding and make great companions.
“Say hello” “The concept of language doesn’t make sense to me, however, even if the reason is beyond my comprehension, when I imitate the masters noises I am rewarded with sustenance. Furthermore, I feel joy from the attention I am given so I will be attentive and comply, for it pleases my master and that is what I strive for!” “Say hello” “Wroo-ho”
This is very wholesome to see. My boyfriend recently lost his little border collie and this one looks very similar to her. Makes me miss her little face. I hope this puppy had a good long and happy life
So after 13 years, out of nowhere the comments and views just exploded on this video for some completely unknown reason. Thanks to RU-vid's algorithm I guess? Whatever the case, appreciate all the love from everyone! And to answer the most popular recurring question/comment by far, yes, sadly Scratch passed in 2019. But for 15+ years she lived a long and full life.
"So after 13 years, out of nowhere the comments and views just exploded on this video for some completely unknown reason." Yep, that's RU-vid for you. RIP Scratch.
Put down my border collie mix the other day and i keep coming back to this video. She had that same charming, shifty eyed look. So attentive and sweet. They almost feel human. Rest in peace sweet girl
The "side-eye" is sigmature border collie being self conscious moment. Mine does it all the time. It's like they're thinking, "OMG, I cna't believe you're asking me to do this, ON CAMERA, but I have to because I love doing amazing stuff SO much!"
I thought the dog was looking between the male, obviously the one taking the video and the female who was giving the treat the very clever dog after each practise of "Hello".
My boy is a goodie too shoes and just wants to impress, my girl does the side eye all the time whenever I ask her to do something, shell eventually sit or look at me , but not without a big sigh and plenty of sas
I know this cutie has crossed the rainbow bridge but let me tell you that watching her and hearing her in this video just warmed my heart! Loved the side eye look!💕🌻
Them along with Corgi's (Pembroke what the Monarch not only has a few of them at least, but actually used to breed them as well, though she doesn't anymore here and Cardigan named as well of course after the places where they originate from) are the two smartest dogs probably anywhere in the world I think! LOL but Corgi's tend to think they're at the top of the pecking order pmsl, even sometimes of their owners as well haha like they'll outsmart them sometimes!
We have a border collie also. His name is Bridger. And we love him and he is so smart. He even herds the neighbors cattle for them. With out ever being trained. Kendra just asked Bridger and he goes down to the mountain and puts them in the barn.God bless all border collies in the world. Please be kind to them. And always tell them no lies. They know.😊😊😊
When you see this video and realize that this dog is probably no longer with us, don't be sad ! Instead, be happy... Knowing that this dog most likely had a great n happy life, I wish the same for all of us.
I do miss videos like this. Even though they’re simple, they are quite enjoyable. It’s videos like these that occupy everyone’s personal camera rolls on their phones. Just special memories. It’s neat to get a look into other peoples’ valued moments, and RU-vid gives us this opportunity.
*I LOVE THIS SO MUCH.* What a smart and lovely dog. She reminds me so much of my late girl Maisy, who passed in 2022. There is just something so special about the attentive way border collies watch and learn from us, their eyes are so soulful.
This showed up on my algorithm just now. It definitely made my day better. RIP scratch. Little did she know that years after her passing she will still be bringing a little bit of joy to people's day. Good Girl forever
We had a greyhound collie mix. We taught her to say hello. It took time with training but she was so proud of herself. Soo cute! She distinctly used 2 syllables and it sounded like rerrr--oooo.
The dog is so cute! One of my beloved cats learned to call his name one day, even though I've never taught him to do it. And he was very good at it too! He passed away a couple of years ago at age 19. I miss him everyday!
…always used to try get my old dog to speak/bark/mimic-whatever, but to no avail… I see now perseverance is key. And treats. Looked like that took a long time.
