Hello everyone. This is going to be a mini series where I talk about Danganronpa's most unpopular characters and give my opinions on them. Footage Credits: Noire Blue: / @noireblue The Weirdo001: / @theweirdo0016
I don't dislike any of the characters, really. In fact, I tend to like unpopular characters more than I would simply because I feel that someone has to speak up for them.
I think the problem with Mukuro is that there just isn’t enough content of her by the actual developers. The fandom loves her a lot (especially me) and there’s a lot of fan-content of her, but in terms of stuff in the actual canon it’s very lack-lustre outside of DR IF which is really sad
Agreed! I know she was used more as plot device than a character, but at the same time, I loved the way she was utilized in DR1. I loved figuring out the mystery behind her identity in chapter 6. It was really fun. Granted, I did really like seeing her character in DRIF and DR3.
Everyone also forgets that Sayaka wasnt told the rules of the trial like in other dr games, she was just given an ambiguous description of the trial after being told she had to murder someone, plus, THEYRE MINORS!! (Apart from hiro-) Picture this, youre kidnapped with 14 other people and locked in a school and cannon leave unless you get away with murder, every moment eats away at you, another fan loosing intrest, and another, and another and another and so on, its like Sayaka said, the world of Pop-Idols is a cut-throat industry and if one fades even the slightest a new one wil rise and create a bigger more powerful flock of fans, and on top of that, youve been shown a video that shows the only people who can keep your dream alive, are in danger, are they dead? are they still alive? is there time to save their lives? then, all that you see is *"Find out after Graduation!"*
What drives me nuts about the hate Sayaka gets is that people act like she committed the worst crime in humanity....... but they adore and idolize Junko.
Junko is obviously held to different standards because she is a villain. Im not going to judge a villain character from the same standards as a normal character. Sayaka has this "Im so cute and innocent" essence to her which gets so fucking annoying. She is shoved down your throat the very first chapter abd the game wants us to see her as a victim even though she tried to kill someone first. In danganronpa 2 there are scenes where Makoto looks back on her case and thinks of her as a victim. She wouldnt have gotten killed if she was: 1. Competent. I mean... Leon is much bigger than her. Plus she couldn't decide whether she even wanted to do it. Kirigiri speculates that she hesitated. 2. She didnt try to kill Leon in the first place and its annoying that the game wants to the audience to take pity on her. (I can think of times where Makoto makes it seem like she's a blameless victim. Junko is supposed to be evil. Not only that but she's good at it. She doesnt have this annoying cutesy exterior. She's evil, she knows it, but doesnt give a fuck. She just wants despair. And thats okay because she's a villain and she's not as pathetic as Sayaka. That's the difference between Junko and Sayaka.
@@lolvioletcore I gotta disagree. Junko became a one-trick pony after the first time charm wore off. She's just as annoying as some people claim Sayaka to be.
Leon might be one of the most underrated Danganronpa characters, one side of me thinks he died way to early & should have lasted longer while another side says he was the perfect first killer of the game!
@@9-tailedgalaxy125 he went back to kill Sayaka when he could have stopped, so about that... of course it's due to the influence of the situation and the killing game, but he could have stopped.
I'll be honest, I'm one of the people who hates Sayaka. She's one of my least favorites. But I don't hate her because of how she backstabbed Makoto. Hell, Miu in v3 did basically the same thing and she's one of my favorites. It was really clever, and had it gone as she planned, that would have been one hell of a trial. Personally, she just annoys me. I don't like her because she gets on my nerves. I don't find her cute or charming, she just irritates me. I know why people like her, and why she's the favorite to some people, and that's fine. Her personality just clashes with mine, and that's okay. But in this franchise, they've all done some incredibly shady shit. Hell, look at Komaeda. He did so much that was just god awful and betrayed the rest of the cast, and he's still a fan favorite. So why do we hate Sayaka for it.
I was about to write a sinilar response. I don't dislike Maizono because I find her actions ethically questionable, and I do think that's not a good reason even if it sounds more 'objective'. I just never really liked her dynamic with Makoto and she always came out to me as mostly fake when she wasn't having episodes of distress. I always asumed she was going to use us in some way and I didn't really care for it, we're in the game and people will play. But what got in my nerves is that the game just forces you to spend so much time with her at the beggining. Above all supposed free time events. So I guess that everyone who didn't immediately vibe with her would come to resent her by the time she died
I actually liked Maizono more after the reveal that she planned the murder. Before that she seemed to be the obvious waifu character with no personality other than liking the protag for no apparent reason, which is a type of character I'm not fond of. So when she showed hints about how much this was all affecting her and then with the murder plan, it made her a lot more interesting. Kuwata I really liked at first, but then seeing his freetimes was kinda... oh that's it? But over time I've come to better appreciate how relatable he is. Yamada gets far too much hate. Hanamura is much much worse. Yamada has issues (many, many issues) but he genuinely seems to be more socially awkward than outright malicious. Hagakure... Neutral at best. He's a comedy character, so liking him depends entirely on whether you find his brand of comedy funny or not. Personally, Fukawa didn't get that much better with UDG. Her dynamic with Komaru was fun and all, but doesn't make up for her other glaring flaws. As for Naegi and Ikusaba, Ikusaba is really interesting and I'd have liked to know more about her. Actual her that is, and not the weird devotion which is all that remains when Enoshima is there. Naegi was alright in the sense that he wasn't really there. He was more like a blank slate until it came to situations like the class triala where "oh yeah that's what he looks like" or when he refused to tell Kirigiri what he saw. Edited to add: My least favourite character of THH isn't any of these, it's Celeste. I do NOT get why she is so popular.
I like this video a lot! I love how you went into detail into each character and explained very succintly what you liked/disliked about the characters. One thing I will say tho that I think you neglected to elaborate on was Hifumi’s murder motive which I think is super integral to his character. I think the fact that he chose to murder Ishimaru because he was convinced Ishimaru assaulted Celeste is very telling of his morals. It’s honestly my favourite moment of his
I mostly dislike Sayaka because she was boring. I never found her interesting honestly she kind of dragged the 1st chapter for me. She was just kind of basic.
I couldn't care less about Yasuhiro's utility, his personality and the fact that he's a lightskin/mixed-race guy like me is enough for me to give him an A rank 🙏🏽
Leon, Toko, and yasuhiro are my favorite the characters! (Loved toko before udg) When I first went on to r/danganronpa when I finished thh, I was SHOCKED to see Yasuhirp so hated because I thought he was the funniest shit ever! I also really love junkuro.
I really liked Toko and Leon when I first played, and was surprised to find out they were not well received. I personally didn't like Sayaka much when I first met her, and she didn't really survive long enough to make me like her. Hifumi I didn't like much at all, but the way Celeste used him made me feel bad for him. He did have funny moments though. Hagakure was funny for the most part, but the whole ghost thing made me annoyed.
I love Sayaka, Leon, Hifumi, Yasuhiro, and Toko. They are my babies. Edit: THEY KILLED SAYAKA AND LEON OFF FIRST BECAUSE THE CREATORS GOT TIRED OF THEM?! 😭
Yeah 😭😭😭 Sayaka and Leon were the blueprint of the characters so they had them around in their workshops for the longest time which made the creators just grow tired of them 😭
Am very glad to see some Yasuhiro love, people give him way too much shit and plus, it's pretty unrealistic to expect every character to act all cool and composed
It’s kind of unreasonable for people to hate at Yasuhiro for being useless, but love Gonta and Keebo, who both were useless characters throughout the game.
I like how Hifumi has a lot of connection to pre-game. He has that moment with his memory back, we know that he had a close enough friendship with Celeste not only for them to have that picture together but for them to have come out to Hifumi (based off of how he refers to them as a they when he recalls them) and stuff. Plus, the whole Alter Ego part just shows that he really needs a friend, which also puts an importance on pre-game since, well, he did have at least one friend. 6:47 I mean, based off of what Celeste said, yeah. He has no reason to distrust them, especially with the grave accusations they made against Taka. Gullible? Celeste is a gifted liar, we know this.
Toko is my favorite character out of the entire series of games. She's been my favorite since THH and having her as one of the main characters in UDG just made me like her more. She was my fav even before we learn about Genocide Jack because of her ultimate alone but I do tend to latch on to the "cute but crazy" characters and she just fits that so well.
also hifumi and teruteri are my least favourite characters but i think hifumi is kinda okay cuz hes just 2d obsessed and teruteru is just a fucking creep god i hate that guy
Atleast these characters get talked about Mondo never even gets mentioned and is always put in B tier on a tier list he is literally the least talked abt character in the whole series
I think a lot of people were made uncomfortable by him with his murder motive in chapter 2 and the fact that he has quite misogynistic ideals. I still like him and I think he’s a really good character, but that is something to consider
@@randomclustermissile8701 yeah I can totally get mondos “hate” but nobody ever mentions that they hate him or love him he never gets talked about (and he’s one of my favourites)
People always complain about characters not having enough of a backstory but then they ignore characters that do. Mondo is my favourite and always will be and I would do anything for him to be spoken about more
@@_astrxnxmy honestly tho he actually has an intriguing backstory and is one of the few characters that have there backstory in the actual story so I don’t get why he gets no love
@@liamsawymilk1312 yeah! In my opinion he’s the killer who regretted it the most and his motive is really sympathetic. He’s this buff scary guy who actually gets really nervous around the people he likes and loves dogs. He does have some questionable beliefs about gender but as does Kaito who is a lot more popular (I’m not trying to bash Kaito I love him too) and mondo has the excuse of that’s how his brother and mother taught him to live. He has a lot of signs resembling ptsd and/or survivors guilt too which adds to him being a sympathetic character In conclusion Mondo deserves more love
My take on, Sayaka: She was well done enough, but I find it really hard to defend her. Mostly because she isn't decisive. Is she a snake? Is she Makoto's closest friend (as of ch.1)? I like Celeste because she is the snake to end all snakes. Like, if we found out that Sayaka did the message to spite Leon and make him fail as opposed to saving Makoto. That would be a cool twist, but maybe too Celeste-like. Leon: Meh, Leon had his chance. He fits his role well, but I don't know much about him. Hifumi: The dudes funny. It's not that don't like him; I just like everybody else that much more. Hiro: I hate how the most integral things he does are mostly not of his own accord. He could be swapped in most plot critical points early-mid game and not change the plot that much at all, plus I feel he was played for a joke a little too much after Hifumi died. Toko: Dude, I could write a novel on DR1 Toko, but I'll leave it at Toko/Jack are in my top 2 with Junko in the whole series.
With Sayaka I like how her actions are left a little ambiguous. Makoto and Kyoko even talk about how it's possible that Sayaka left the message just to get revenge on Leon. I'm not really one of those people who will say "Sayaka did nothing wrong" or "Sayaka isn't a snake" because of course what she did can definitely be viewed as bad but I can understand why she did it (Either explanation of her trying to protect Makoto or getting revenge on Leon is fine for me because we see both her good side and bad side in the daily life) and that's all that matters to me. I generally don't care if characters do bad things and my opinions on characters aren't based on how good or bad they are as a person.
I have the same feeling about people with a Monokuma pfp. How degenerated do you have to be to use the face of this despairful evil bear as your avatar.
I love leon and I appreciate you noticing how important he was since he started the game off great and served his role as the first killer well. While his actions are morally grey, I personally believe he’s a good guy based on his interactions with his cousin from the book. I wish we could’ve seen more of his protective and caring side.
My thoughts on the underrated v1 characters: Sayaka: I really like her. Not my top ten but she was pretty realistic in the game. I think she didn't deserve to die. Leon: I like him. I'd say it's cause of his voice but everything about him I like. Hifumi: I also liked him. Kinda reminds me of me. I think he died to early. Mukuro: in the anime she its shown how much she did for junko (or at least from what I seen). She shouldn't have died. I loved everything about her. I'll be honest I prefer Mukuro over junko. Yasuhiro: I was funny and something I would do irl. Happy he survived Toko: oh my f**king God she was so good both in v1 and udg she is way to underrated. I wanna see more of her in the future.
Toko and genocide Jack are my favorite characters from thh. I like them both because they make each other more interesting. If she didn't have DID she would be a pretty boring character.
I think Hifumi deserves better and more of a story and personality than he was given. He's one of my favorites in thh and that's honestly probably because we share a lot of intrests and see myself in him a small bit.
I actually loved Leon. His design, his personality, his potential. It sounded like he could have had a tragic backstory, as he said he rejected baseball for music, but there was something more to that. Not to mention, he wasn't trying to kill anyone. Ultimately he did, but it wasn't entirely his fault, I don't think. It started out as self defense, and it really seemed like fear finished it off. Yet, everyone seems to hate him. I was really hoping to see more of Leon, he seemed to have amazing potential. What I hoped to see in Leon, I ended up seeing in Kaito. But spoilers, Kaito did last longer than Leon, but ultimately met his end too. Hey, at least I got to see the character development I was hoping for.
I see this a lot. Everyone either really likes him or seriously hates him. Few may be nutrual to him. I like him, not to the Level I've seen others like him. I think he's interesting.
The only characters I dislike are sonia, kokichi, and those two guys from the anime. I used to be indifferent towards toko but then I say genocide jack do a spirit bomb in UDG and shouted at the top of my lungs " I want this woman to marry me".
@NctzenDaileee i think kokichi is annoying but at least he was plot relevant and did stuff however Sonia does literally nothing and and the game would not change in any major way if she died in chapter 3 instead of hiyoko or ibuki my point is that Sonia is literally one of if if not the most pointless character in the series
@@Gusername whatt?? 😭 first of all, no. If Sonia wasn't in the game Kazuichi wouldn't have a whole chunk of his personality, Gundham wouldn't have anyone to get flustered by or heck, even a friend, and TeruTeru's introduction would be weirder without her. Need more reasons? Of course! You would never go to the beach party with Kazuichi because the whole reason he went was Sonia, and if you hadn't went, literally how the fuck would you find out Peko killed Mahiru? And the anime would make no fucking sense if it had Sonia and the game didn't, and say you removed her from the anime too, now not only does Gundham and Kazuichi have anyone to spice up their character, Chiaki and Chisa wouldn't either. 'She's not funny' that's literally an opinion. I think shes actually pretty funny, because she curses out of nowhere and makes Gundham lose his 'character' by flustering him. Also, her interactions with Kazuichi are pretty funny. 'She's too mean to Kazuichi' He fucking harasses her what do you expect? He's a total creep to her like please make me understand what shes supposed to do? Also she isn't mean to him at all. Like she ignores him for the most part, which is the RIGHT THING TO DO. Not helpful in trials? Stop the cap. Who found out the bombs were fake? Sonia. Who stood up for Chiaki? Sonia. Who found the intentions of Peko? Sonia. Who found out the origins of Peko's mask, therefore helping out with the trial? SONIA. I could go on and on about how much of cap and opinion this is, but this comment is already too long. (not mine)(my opinion ig)
I love both versions of Toko (mainly due to the fact I relate to her a lot) but I agree Toko for THH was a lot worse then UDG Toko was treated like “creepy fanfic girl with second personality” yes she did some awful stalking to Byakuya which in back he verbally assaulted her Toko on focused on Byakuya in THH leaving her to the only time we get backstory is if we interact and people who might be uncomfortable by her won’t know her backstory besides Genocide Jill now UDG (I’m not on this game) Toko was a main protagonist she still was trying to get to Byakuya but she also protects Komura and also gave us more Genocide Jill which gave her a more character than a serial killer we also see an awesome character design UDG her long ruffled hair her tattered outfit while in THH we were left with a plain braided hair and a purple school girl outfit but I love both versions of character it’s clear she’s different UDG than in THH but there’s also time where she’s better in THH (I know we are talking about the fantasies) and I like how she did slowly become friend Toko is a complex character she has her bad parts but her good parts also and some people choose to look at one side or like me look at both
Sayaka and Leon is understandable since well they are the first to die. Even then I don't consider Sayaka a snake, so both are a meh to me. I don't love them but I don't hate them Hifumi... I think the pervy persona didn't work with him. Not for the design, for example Teruteru's design is not that good, but he is a really likeable character. Miu despite being vulgar she is probably one of the most helpful characters in the series, even after she died she help the survivors, but Hifumi doesn't have anything like those two Yasuhiro, I mean he is okay to me, he is nothing special but at least he had relevance in the game And Toko... Why are you hating on my Waifu? I always liked Toko, especially in UDG, but I do understand where the dislike might come from
and what doesn't help Hifumi, he got tricked into killing a character that was more liked than him. So it made him look bland and pitiful as a murderer unfortunately.
@@eric7798 I'm ok with her more perverted nature and her obsession with Byakuya. I just didn't want to see her actual thoughts visually appear on the screen.
I honestly don't know who would be in the next video for sdr2, but my bet would probably be teruteru, ult. Imposter, mahiru, sonia, and either mikan, hiyoko, or kazuichi. Not to say I don't like them, but because the fanbase is so diverse and with many different opinions, it's really hard to get a general basis on who's unpopular since a person has a lot of dedicated fans. Idk how you're gonna decide whose gonna be in the v3 video but good luck!
i’m honestly kind of suprised aoi isn’t on here, i never see her being spoke about, also mondo. i only really hear him being spoke abt with the „mondo butter“ meme or mondo x ishimaru shippers
If you're talking about Danganronpa S, I honestly don't think people's opinions of characters will change too much because of it. But we'll see if it has a lot of effect when it comes out.
@@DerpyHiro who knows? haha if it has some sort of stories, maybe it'll create some new ships / friendships. Usually, that helps a character become more popular too. that's what was lacking a lot for many of the unpopular characters, even Hagakure lol it feels like he's friends with the others, but just for the sake of it. Like seeing Sayaka with Kaede and Ibuki in an event in the V3 bonus game was a great idea for instance. or Leon / Ryoma with their belief clashing against each other. as for friendships creates, a good example I have'd be Tenko with Aoi with their two very sweet events. And offff course Gundham and Gonta that was the sweetest thing ever. Gonta and Nekomaru was cute too. or some others that you just WANTED to see, Toko vs Miu, Kazuichi/Miu, Keebo('s virginity) with Kazuichi. hahaha they could have more with them or create others of course.
I actually like the comparison DerpyHiro made with Yasohiro to Usopp from One Piece, who along with Chopper is also my favorite character from One Piece, I never considered how similar the two are, but for whatever reason I just don't like Hiro, whereas I love Usopp. That being said; while I don't particularly like Hiro, I understand his importance to the overall story despite the fact he doesn't actively do all that much, and you could have still had a comic relief character if switched out for say Hifumi or Ishimaru, but Hiro likely made the most sense to the writers because of his chill, idiotic and cowardice nature in contrast to the other surviving characters.
I don’t really hate sayaka because she backstabbed makoto or any of her actions, I think that’s totally fine and realistic! I guess I just dislike her because of the very subjective opinion: she’s annoying And choosing the least popular characters of sdr2 is gonna be a doozy. The opinion on those characters is super divided
DerpyHiro has probabaly already decided SDR2 characters to talk about, but imo the five most unpopular characters would be Teruteru, Hiyoko, Nekomaru, Akane, and maybe Mikan. I could see Kazuichi in place of Mikan, but it seems like he has a lot more fans than haters. Mikan has some fans out there too, but like, I think the majority of players were really put off by her fanservice stuff.
Sayaka: She isn't the worst character but she's annoying (my least favorite characters are hiyoko and ruruka) Hifumi: He's ok, not the best character, not the worst character either but i agree that he's pretty overhated Yasuhiro: I like him Leon: I literally love him
Kuwata and Hagakure are all hated for the same reason as far as I can figure: they’re too realistic. Of course there’s that one idiot who doesn’t understand what’s happening until someone’s lying dead on the floor. Of course there’s that one idiot who actually snaps and listens to the psycho encouraging you to kill each other. Neither has many redeeming qualities, either, they’re just on the nose. Kuwata is pretty reasonable, but when he’s terrified he acts irrationally and kills Maizono, then pins it on Naegi pretty much by accident. In his FTEs, he’s a lazy guy who got a lucky break being forced into baseball but doesn’t even appreciate it. His only redeeming plot, his relationship with Nakajima, is tarnished by him being her cousin. Meanwhile, Hagakure doesn’t even believe that the killing game is real. In his FTEs, he nearly gets Naegi killed, and he really just lives much longer than most people would prefer. He’s cowardly and useless for the most part, and is a huge reason the trials end up spinning off track later on. Similarly, Fukawa and Yamada are also hated for a similar reason: both are seen as servile perverts. Honestly, I won’t even add anything more. Let’s move on. Maizono is hated simply because she betrayed Naegi, and Naegi is supposed to be your self insert, so people took it personally lol.
Great video, as per usual! I've always found it interesting that with the DR1 cast, the most upopular characters were the ones that, to me, felt the most human. Sayaka is the shining example for me here. She simply just couldn't deal with the situation she was put in, and did the only thing she could to get out. In all of the games she's the only one to have a legitimate panic attack, which made me sympathize with her tremendously. That's such a human reaction that most people would have in that situation, because let's face it, not all of us can be an ace detective, multi-billionaire, or the world's #1 fighter. Yes she's an idol, but she's also a frightened teenager who was just told that her friends (and by extention, her whole world) might be dead. I don't condone her actions by any means, but it's hard to blame her for snapping under that kind of pressure. I've never understood why she's so hated. I have similar feelings with Hiro, Leon, and Toko (minus Genocide Jack), but I've already rambled on too long for one comment, so maybe another time!
I think that I disagree with saying that the Game would be darker without Hagakure. I think it's a mistake saying that he is like the only comic relief character, when almost every character were a comic relief, and most of them worked better. I think Hagakures Main problem is that he has no purpose in the story rather than being funny, but thats Made in really Bad moments and it ends up being cringy, especially in the last chapters. I think it would have worked a lot better Hagakure dying in chapter 3 instead of Ishimaru.
Yeah I agree with you on Ishimaru surviving instead of Hagakure but I didn't mind him surviving he the person who was just trying to survive and went along with everybody else.
And that he got no development whatsoever in the serie. Considering his talent, even if it was 30% of the time, it had potential but was never used. I'd say Hiro is most likely one of the most boring character for people, i mean, even the creator is aware of it, since there was a part in the anime saying something like "he is not the game but outside because nobody likes him". I understand why he killed Sayaka instead of him, but well, she really would have been better as a survivor for sure.
@@deanfernandes7604 Yes, the problema is that he would have been a better character and it would have Made more sense him dying instead of Ishimaru in chapter 3. It didnt make sense Celestia trying to blame Hagakure
Yamada is sorta relatable in a weird sort of way, I dont know but I like him and dont think he deserved all the bs he got Also Ogami is best girl fight me
I do see fanart and analyses of her across the internet, but I still feel like she wasn't as notable and is more underrated than the other DR2 characters
The (spoiler warning) Junko disguised Mukuro is a character I actually like, because of her free time events, her focusing in a new dream is something that makes her interesting
I honestly don't really get why any of these characters are outright hated. I can see people being neutral towards them tbh, but hate? C'mon man. You're completely right in your assessment of these characters too. I especially wish Yasuhiro and Hifumi got more love.
I'm not gonna go over the chapter 3 stuff, but there was another thing about Hiro that honestly makes him one of my favorites that you didn't mention. After chapter two where Mondo is executed, Ishimaru practically shuts down. He stops eating in fear that he would eat Mondo, as well as is very clearly not sleeping. If you spend a free time event with him there, Makoto's end card says something along the lines of "I spent some time with a soulless Ishimaru" showing just how absent he is. Yasuhiro was the first person to even try to help Ishimaru, and was also the first person to step up and try to take on the leadership role Taka held!!
Sayaka: I actually like her & understand why she tried to commit murder (she’s actually my 3rd favorite girl of this cast) but her running joke of “I’m psychic” gets really old really fast. And to this day, I still don’t get why she has only 2 FTE blocks. Both Leon & Mukuro (who also died on Ch. 1) have more blocks in comparison Leon: he’s fine, I guess, not really fan but also I have nothing against him. I do feel sorry for him when he’s reacting to his impending execution Hifumi: I really think he’s overhated, he’s not really a bad person. I get that his personality can rub people the wrong way, but he’s actually a pretty good comic relief. Also, I noticed that he & Celeste must have been really close during their days at Hope’s Peak. To the point to actually know her real name Yasuhiro: He’s also okay, he’s just a goofy guy with a little bit of wit, and at the same time that’s also his weakness. If there’s something I’ll be willing to die in a hill for him is: if he gets so much hate because of the “Kyoko is a ghost” situation then Nagito should get as much hate for “Hajime is lying about the video” Toko: Her inferiority complex sure is annoying and her obsession with Byakuya is something else, but the fact that she ended up being the real identity of a serial killer really puts her as a somewhat interesting character. I think that’s what balances it with me
The only student I don’t like from number one is hifumi. Sayaka I’m neutral on and same as Leon (I love leons design tho). I think the cast from danganronpa games is pretty great with v3 having the worst cast
How is Sayaka more hated than Byakuya?! Dude is a self centered asshole who deliberately sabotages a crime scene all because Toko confessed to him that she has a DID, not only that but her alter is a popular serial killer & she afraid of Jill taking control. It makes me feel bad for her because she trusted him with something that’s very personal to her & he just changes the crime scene to make it look like Jill did so he could expose that information. All Sayaka wanted to do was leave ASAP because she was very worried about her friends. Even though she planned to frame Makoto she still cared about him enough to write Leon on the wall when things didn’t go as planned, this shows that her motives were more desperate than malicious
omg I NEED to see this with danganropa 2 and 3. these videos are so fun to watch plus it make you really appreciate charaters like sayaka , leon and the others :)
A lot of people do. Sayaka especially gets a lot of hate. Leon doesn't get too much vitriolic hate but he's usually ranked low on tier lists and doesn't leave much of an impression on people. Hence he's unpopular
In my opinion, I think part of the reason why people hate Sayaka is because they can relate to her to some degree. As the man in the video mentioned, Sayaka's reactions and actions taken when she watched her Ulterior Motive tape in order to commit murder was realistic which must of definitely hit some weak spots in people deep. So people decided to call Sayaka a minipulative snake so they can appear to be a good person while also making themselves feel better in the process.
I don't think so I wouldn't have killed anyone unless it was in self defense or if we were the last people left. She was a manipulative snake I would have tried to pin it on someone I disliked not my friend.
I live for Yasuhiro. I don't know why though. I love Leon, he's one of the most misunderstood characters (my opinion ofc)For some reason, Hifumi is a discomfort to me. I don't really like Sayaka, she's one of my least favourites, I don't know why. I think it's mainly because of her fans forcing you to like her, bringing down a certain gambler to uplift her and erasing that same gamblers character (as I have a really strong comfort to them) .I don't rlly have opinions on anyone else
My thoughts on the characters before watching Spoils Sayaka - Honestly, this character ain't for me, many people dislike her due objected murder calling her snake and crap like that. I just don't really like the "main crush" type characters. But I don't dislike her for trying to kill Leon, She was just in a lot of stuff. That does not mean I think she should have attacked, She was just desperate too get out. Leon - This character is i dislike for the same reason as Sayaka, just don't like there personality, but this character is really important to danganronpa in general. He is the first blackened and has the first execution. I won't go to far since there's another video out there that explains why. (Watch it, its a great video) Hifumi - Honestly this character had a lot of potential. But I didn't like where they went with Hifumi. If he had a better character design and a more Barable personality, He would probably be a lot better liked in the Fandom, And with Alter ego, he mentioned how he never talked with someone his age with the same hobbies he likes. He could have a great backstory with this. I ain't no great writer so I can't write out them but I have idea's. And his relationship with Alter ego really could have been interesting, But they went with a love triangle gag that wasn't really even funny. He could have been a great character but they gave him the comic relief role which makes me sad... Hiro - Don't have much to say bout this guy, he's just there too exist. We would have been better off as a victim. All his freetime events were just him fooling around and at the end, he was just trying to scam Makoto, there was no character development with him, he's just a dumbass. Toko - Without talking about ugc, Still like her, her freetime events were an interesting experience with her as a character. And with Jill in the mix, it makes it really fun to theorized how she turned out the way she is. Though I don't know much bout the 2 mothers thing, if udc didn't exist but she had a more understanding personality she'd be more liked. Edit: After watching you kind of up'd my opinion of Hiro and Hifumi. I haven't considered Hiros paranoia, so that was something. I guess I didn't like him cause I don't have the same sense of humor as him, I might post my thoughts on part 2. Ya earned a new sub!
To be honest, I didn't like Sayaka at first only because I found her a bit creepy however, I did found myself respecting her after the first trail (which is one of the best trails of the first game in my opinion) because I just like how she planned everything out.
I feel so bad that over the years I dislike Sayaka because that she kinda backstab Makoto(though I guess she knows what it’s like to be stab, just not in the back). Now I like her and understand her actions on why she did it, plus after knowing a bit about how horrible the idol industry is, man I feel bad for her. I still dislike the backstabbing a bit, but I don’t hate for it(more of so I separated that into I hate/dislike the action she did, but don’t hate/dislike the person at all).
With yasuhiro hagakure, i don't think anyone truly believes that he shouldn't be there at all, mostly people use him to replace taka as a victim. This is because in chapter 3, two comic characters died, Celeste and hifumi. But also one that was just developing strongly. So most people replace taka with yasuhiro for a stronger story.
Sayaka is honestly one of my favorite characters in the series period. We got so much time with her in the beginning, she grew on me. I hate how people make her out to be some evil witch. She was like a sheep, who knew nothing more than how to follow the herd. All she knew was her idol group, and she lost that. So obviously she'd go insane. But even then, she was still sweet and caring. Call her evil, but if she was she wouldn't have hesitated. And she wouldn't have ended up that way.
I don't hate almost any of the characters (Haiji, Junko and those sorts of characters I do hate) but I do have a few disliked characters (Sayaka, Toko, Chiaki, Mikan etc) but I don't hate you for not hating them! I respect your opinion and that's cool if you like them!
Also I don't like Sayaka because she just wasn't my type of character, for Toko, first impressions matter more to me and she was hella weird in the first game, Mikan, she makes me uncomfortable and I don't like it, Chiaki, she's kind of a mary sue and I am not a fan of that.
To me Fukawa is a comfort character for me. She's the only character I can relate to based on how I act in many situations. None of the other characters (other than Mahiru) had realistic reactions to what player says to them. Sure, Fukawa's perception of boys is warped and she is flawed in many ways but that's what makes me like her more. Her stutter issue comes naturally to me (I have a speech impediment. I don't have DID but I can practically think of what Fukawa might say in every situation) I mean think about it. If I were in Danganronpa I'd totally be on edge all the time praying to god no one murders me. And those fantasies in UDG.. well there are many things about both Fukawa and Togami that you can tell about their relationship based on those fantasies. (It's definetly iffy. It gets better in UDG) I know people are going to roast me about that part although I'm ready for it. :/ Damn I kinda went on a spree to know everything about this character. Why she was obsessed over Togami, her backstory, her relationship with Komaru. Yeah.. Fukawa is definetly one of my favorites. (Minus the whole weird akaward tension between her and Togami. We get it. Everything she said describing Togami made me cringe the first time reading it)
