@@jeffcarpenter479 He is adopting an older tocan probly as we speak? He is exactly like Ripley and 15 years old. Also he has a deposit down on a baby. Its a type that is different than Ripley?
Visited a bird sanctuary in Copan Ruinas, Honduras. I had the pleasure of meeting a young toucan whose character was eerily human. I was petting her through the fence for a long time, when a caretaker took note and introduced us. It was genuinely excited to meet me, showing me several toys, hopping all around me, making those clicking noises and gently nibbling through my hair. I can only assume they are particuarly social animals in the wild, forming close individual relationships, reinforced with play and cuddling. Perfectly content to be friends, if only because I took a little time to get to know her, reminded me a lot of another species. I could only wish those benefitting from the logging that left her orphaned would make that consideration. To think, we tipped the guys that gave us a ride to the park that day more than an entire day's wage of illegal logging.
Most people that are afraid of birds have other fears based around unpredictability. People see birds as unpredictable and for the most part they are for people who haven't been around them and don't know how to read them. If the bird flies at them they may be scared of hurting it also.
Just watching a few of your brilliant and highly amusing Ripley videos...Am so very sorry that you have lost this beautiful and very special bird..RIP RIPLEY XXXX
1:03: "Alright...* hops to couch arm*...You wanna awkwardly stare silently at me I'll-"1:09:"Hey hey hey hands off pal!! ...I'll come over here and awkwardly stare silently at you. See how you feel."
I didn’t look at when this was posted right away and thought this was Tupac. I was thinking to myself, “Why does he seem so energetic?” Then I realized, this was Ripley. She was such a beautiful girl and everyday she shall be missed.
No it wouldn't be smell and birds don't have that capability sinse they were not made to hunt animals that put up a fight unlike wolves the ancestor of dogs can sense fear so they know when to strike
With a beak that wide, if they wanted to eat nuts, they'd have to have overdevelopped jaw muscles or it would have to be heavier. The sheer length of their beak doesn't allow them to apply a lot of pressure, since it would have to be spread on the whole length of their beak. On the other hands, parrots have small but compact beaks with which thay can pinch real hard. Besides, if the toucan's beak were heavier, they'd have a really weird balance and I doubt they'd be even able to fly.
your friend is a wuss! i would love to try and pet ripley! not everyday you get the opportunity to interact with a tuncan! guessing your friend is there for a stay, did you leave ripley in her cage the whole time?
Cue the so called animal experts who are gonna say something among the lines "you bird is actually very stress and on the verge of death" or some shiz like that.
Omg I love her so much!!!! If you ever want an entertaining video of a toucan lover meeting a toucan, I'm your gal. They're so cute and captivating 😍😍😍😍 I'm 100% sure it start crying
I don't think so. Toucans play with things by putting it in their beaks (they play with other Toucans by sword fighting with their beaks.). I don't think they'd mean to hurt it though if it was raised around small birds from a young age. Nevertheless, I wouldn't let any larger bird touch my budgies and cockatiel.
Even if they can, they are wild animals, not "cute pet". Ripley is not a normal case. They are beautiful, but better in nature with the space they need, right?
