Hey everyone! I was so happy to come across this cold porcelain clay that I've never heard of at my local Hobby Lobby store. The description stated that it could bend 360 degrees after drying...so of course I had to try it.
I have been trying for years to make my own flexible cold porcelain. Sometimes my clay batch cooks up well and I have a very durable clay but other times it fools me and seems brittle. My only other option was Modena clay which is very pricey and shipping times can be lengthy. I've also tried deco and hearty soft (foamy type clays) but those clays lack the detail and life like qualities of true cold porcelain.
I believe I have finally found my perfect clay ...NARA!

I got nara after a bad batch of cosclay. While I still prefer cosclay this stuff is quick cheap effective and easy

Thank you for this review! I am so new to this art and I just purchased this clay today and when I opened it it looks to have mildew or mold spots. Seeing you open yours tells me I must have gotten a bad batch. The comparisons help as well!

This is probably a strange question, but I'm looking for something that I can mix with a paper clay to increase it's resistance to cracking when wrapped around an object (bottle, wooden form, armature). Would the Nara, based on your experience with clay, mix with something like Creative Paperclay?

Yes absolutely! The main difference is NARA is not waterproof but very water resistant. I seal jewelry pieces with Jo Sonja brand waterbased polyurethane.

Yes! I would recommend a coating of water based polyurethane when finished for durability

Hi i am looking for something to make miniature 1 inch and around sized plates can you help me i make realistic food with polymer clay but i want to try the plates also with porcelain or ceramic but I don't have a kiln can you help me ?

I would highly recommend using NARA brand cold porcelain or any cold porcelain for miniature plates. If they must be real porcelain I would find a local potter. Miniature plates would take up a tiny amount of room in their kiln and most wouldn't mind...but keep in mind not all potters fire to the high temperatures that real porcelain requires. Best to find someone who fires real porcelain. Using cold porcelain would be the easiest route in my opinion. Finished plates can be sealed with a water based polyurethane for durability and to seal any painted details

Hi! Not sure if you still upload. But I want to use this to customize an action figure. Will it stick just fine? I saw it was flexible, so I'm thinking it is best clay for sculpting clothes.

I would think it would stick just fine. Just remember to not make the clay too thick or it may crack. I would say 3/4 inch thick at most. You can use foil or another material beneath the clay to bulk out areas that need to be thicker

I dust my surface and pin with cornstarch.

So is it better to mix the acrylic paint with the clay before it dry or paint it after dry?

It's all personal preference. But just know that you will only get pastel colors if you mix paint into clay.

Thanks for the video...im an artist ..and currently im using nara flower clay...but i came looking for advice on how to store this clay....it dries like crazy even with air tight boxes

Yes I have noticed this problem too. I wrap it as tightly as possible with plastic wrap and place it in another bag with a wet wipe for added moisture. I try to only use small bits at a time to prevent the whole block from drying out.

And be sure to use a layer of hand cream on the ball of clay or the plastic wrap before wrapping it up. The clay is very sticky.

is Nara powdery, like sculpey are dry ? i did not like it for that fact as if ur working making flower tortillas a well leaves hands all powdery

No I have not noticed it leaving my hands powdery. I often coat my hands with nivea cream when I'm working with it to keep it from sticking to surfaces. So I would say it leaves your hands in better condition than when you began working with it.

@@petalbyamandalewis2088 : TY for responding Amanda, and i guess it's the Brand that the product is just real power when working with it, and i don't know if Air Dri clay is supposed to take a few days to completely cure or dry.

Most air dry clay will dry in a few hours if it is less than 1/4 inch thick.
