Your video on why one should never break no contact with a narcissistic parent has helped me stay no contact with my narc mom for eight months now and every day I'm getting stronger. I can relate to this so much!! The gas-lighting, the pretending to be your protector while they are secretly destroying you. After a year of isolation I'm working again. I was with my ex 13yrs and unfortunately we share a son together so I can't fully break away. I've went NC with my entire family this past year(where the abuse started) It's been almost a year! Good people do come in once you get rid of the toxic, you have to start trusting your intuition and loving yourself!

The story of your mother convincing someone to convert is just priceless. It would be funny if I didn't know the larger context of who she is. Narcissism is not funny but the lengths they go to sometimes are.

This is so much like my father, he wanted his children to be at mass with him on his birthday so his new wife and her family could see what a good father and Christian man he was. All for supply. "They don't believe in god, they believe they are god." He did manage to keep his mask on for some years, but they eventually saw him for the true person he was.

It’s nice to see your handsome face Tom! I’m glad that you’re hanging in there with your health. I have serious health challenges too. I feel my health problems and eating disorder are directly caused by my narcissistic mother. I was actually in adrenal exhaustion when I finally went NC six months before she died. I had a botched sciatic nerve surgery that has left me in excruciating pain that I will have the rest of my life. Can you do a video on how you take care of yourself? I have problems with self care and putting my needs first. Thank you for sharing your story. It’s helped me more than you will ever know! You’re a wonderful guy!! Wishing you peace and light! 😘

You are so right about Religion. Be a good person. This is how my NM using religion...listens to it in hope of getting to Heaven, but doesn't PRACTICE it in her life.

Hi Tom, I hope you are still reading comments on older RU-vid videos. I subscribed to your channel sometime ago and appreciate what you have to say. About the 75 old blushing bride, WOW!!! There are holes indeed in what this woman thought she was accomplishing by converting her husband of 30 years. Depending on what denomination and their rules, according to strict Catholics she was NOT married all that time and living in sin. So there was the need for HER had to clean up her own yard, FIRST! Protestants recognize cross religious marriages if they are legal, so honestly NO NEED to go through a public ceremony if the spouse converted or not. Religious narcissism though is about the worst. I have it in my own family, a brother who is a moralistic bully. Clergy can also be stuck in pomp and circumstance. I am sorry if this offends other readers here, but female ordination is very liable to narcissistic strutting and self-promotion, one of the reasons the Fathers of the Church for 2000 years forbade it. I'd really like to see a discussion on religious narcissism, if you haven't done a talk on it already. All the best, Janet

Tom I need help. My sons father now has my sons. One is suicidal because my ex is making my youngest the golden child . They are 11 & 14. I've tried to call DCYF BUT they don't see mental abuse. If I call the police he will do crazy terrifying thugs and try to not allow visits. He already is withholding them from me. I am losing my mind . My oldest secretly communicates with me and says he has wanted to kill himself and is sobbing . I am so worried and I'm disabled from the abuse. 23 years with him and I left him 11 years ago to protect my kids. He spent 11 years (more) smearing me. I am alone without a soul . I'm trying myself to stay alive for my kids. My ex is wealthy and has an entire church and bishop as well as my Atty (EX Atty now) as his flying monkeys. I can barely get to the store. I've lost my career, home, health, and now my kids. I only has kidney surgery and he used it to say I faked and was mental! I see a therapist but he says just to live and move on. I have a condo 10 hours from my kids. I can't work yet so I may lose it. He has tormented my kids daily . My sons need me and I'm a anxious mess! Yet I want them and want no contact. I can't find a lawyer here. I don't have enough money as I paid my (his) lawyer and he was secretly working for him. My sons knew it . They trust no one . My ex has stalked us . They hated visits and two vacations in 11 years. He is threatening to leave the USA on vacation to his birth home . He says he is not bringing them back . God help us. My boys and I miss and love each other so much! I had all of us in therapy . Yet he dismantled this and school when I got sick. Please contact me. I don't know how to contact you. My son is caking tomorrow as he is not legally in my exes custody till 6 more days . My youngest is and he has ODD/autism. He needs therapy . We are all very traumatized. If I could get them back I would move and pray the courts say no contact ! I would never turn back. I've kept low contact for 11 years . He is married and had a double life. We were engaged and shared a condo in a big city. The men minutes after I had come home with my new born second son he told me he was leaving . Never to return . He came Back the next day with a wedding ring on. I moved out and away . He began his plan to kill me slowly . Tom I need help . It's life or death now. I pray you contact me please.

God has no religion

Religion is used as a means by which to convey that there should be no questions asked. I mentioned my downstairs neighbor before and, for her husband who is in prison, all she told me about him was that he is with the Lord. As she was trying to get me to help her, likely as a free caregiver, while her personal business is private, I felt I needed to know what he was in for. I did a bit of research and found that he’s in for the double murder of a woman and her child and had been in prison since the 1970s or 1980s. I’m not his judge, nor jury but, she wanted me to give her my phone number, to give to him, in case of an emergency. Not only did a few things smack of induced conversation for the purpose of enmeshment, and I wasn’t even sure that she was I’ll enough to need help, but I felt she was using religion to stop me from asking questions. Questions about her and questions about her husband. She was trying to maybe make me feel that she couldn’t possibly be lying or lying about omission about anything because, hey, she’s religious, right? Problem, for her was, I’m not religious. I ask questions and I want to know details to discern for myself. I’m disinterested in the image someone is trying to portray. If she wanted my free time, I’d also need to see her medical records and visit with her doctors. That may sound invasive. But, again, she seemed to want free care, which would include me setting aside my time and goals for someone I don’t even know, who’s trying to become sudden BFFs, for the express purpose of that care, at the expense of myself. So, she can bless everyone she sees, even if it is even to sew up any issues that may arise in the future, so that if there are any questions, it is I who is in the wrong, but I’m watching. I’m watching everything from micro expressions to probing to any artifice I detect and, other than the fact that I don’t really have time, I told her no.

My sick and twisted narcissist GM got up like Donohue in front of her church at my grandfathers funeral, mic in hand, to regale everyone on the man she'd made miserable for decades. Not a tear to be seen of course. The man who she refused to even cook fish for, "because it would stink up the house" even though it was his favorite food. My narc dad wasn't there that I can remember. I think he bailed on his fathers funeral, being the narc he also was.

Go thru the New Testament and pay attention to how the religious Pharisees treated Jesus and you realize he was dealing with Narcissists too...

You know you have to live by an example if you're going to live by the Bible and unfortunately spare the rod and spoil the child has been taken to the extreme I was a Catholic at one time and my dad would take his belt and with me with it thank God I didn't get it more than 10 times but I learned not to show him disrespect however in the Bible it says that you should not be exasperated in your child it says that reading the scriptures and that means you don't say things to hurt them you don't see things to deliberately get the mat don't exasperate them don't get the all up set to cause some to cry or do something that irritates them.. In the Bible it talks about the rod now the Shepherds used to take this rod and gently nudge one of the Sheep's that was out of control and he would take the rod and gently guide the Sheep back to its herd. There was no way that that Rod was ever used to beat a sheep over the head or over the back or to break the poor little sheeps spirit. So what some religions have done is taking that scripture to the extreme and broke a child's spirit broke a child's heart and that's not what it was used for.
