Thank you, Dale! The Dublins... I can’t get enough of them and yes... they have a cool smell!

Thank you for your very informative review Dale. The Parkhurst Allens in natural Dublin are the coolest in my opinion and could be my next boots. I am staying away from shell because I am concerned it wont breath. I’ll have to check with Parkhurst to see if they can make it on a leather sole (preferably butyl). These will go with the natural dublin wallets I recently aquired from Phil frim Ashland leather goods (they make some beautiful and supreme quality wallets that’s for sure). Be well!

as always thank YOU sir for your kind and thoughtful input!!! actually talking to Phil from ashland leather, he told me shell does breath a little bit as apparently you can blow smoke through it? it's just not as breathable as some of the looser grain leathers!!

A thoughtful, exacting review. Genius-level details. Love your explanations. Something like this, with as much information has to be done by someone who truly appreciates the work and the artistry. No way you can get a review with this much accurate information from someone who did an unboxing and wore them for a couple weeks and jumped on youtube to make a time-waster video. I fully agree with his discussion on sock materials. I always wear wool in my all-leather boots as well as my running shoes. I prefer Merino wool. It may be a lighter wool sock or a medium wool sock but it is always wool for just the reasons he cited in the video. I don't even own any cotton socks anymore....not for running, not for the gym not for walking around during the day, they're just the wrong material unless you're just sitting around the house

Try using Dublin leather for the boot’s tongue when you MTO , it works really well!

Nice video! I watched it all! I just got some viberg 2020 in cambridge essex, which sounds very similar to the natural dublin. Im trying to decide about shoe trees, i want to use them, but have a narrow foot and dont want them to stretch in volume or width at all. What is your educated opinion?
@DalesLeatherworks
@DalesLeatherworks 3 года назад
Glad you enjoyed it my friend!! I would say if that's the case, skip the shoe trees, and the Essex will naturally form to your foot without stretching too much. I find I actually like the fit of most of my boots when I skip the trees so that might be the way to go!

I've looked hard at Grant Stone's natural chromexcel models a few times but have never pulled the trigger. I like the looks, but there is a certain sandy tone to the leather that I'm not a fan of. I snagged a B grade plain toe blucher and cap toe in crimson chromexcel recently and I'm in love with that leather lol. On that note, I've had some really good experiences with Grant Stone's chromexcel models, at least those I've tried. The PTBs crease kinda easy, but my black diesels and especially the cap toe have not. The cap toe is behaving more like shell so far; rather than creasing the leather is rolling. Of course, no one is going to be fooled but I'm pleased, and the rolling is pushing the color around in an amazing way.

very informative video. I was under the impression that Chromexcel was a proprietary brand from Horween, one could not call it CXL if it is tanned by another tannery.

I really like your videos Sir. My only positive criticism it's the audio in the video. You sound far from the mic and the space where you are make some echo.

You have the Truman Dark Natural Double Shot yet? What do you know about that leather?
@DalesLeatherworks
@DalesLeatherworks 3 года назад
I don't have any of the double shots but from what I know, that leather is from Seidel, I have 2 pairs of boots in Seidel leather and a 3rd on the way (in cheaha) and it's AMAZING!!! It's got an incredible smell and some amazing pullup characteristics! incredibly durable as well

@@DalesLeatherworks thank you for your reply. Do you feel that the Natural leather is the most versatile in your collection and the reason you have so many?
@DalesLeatherworks
@DalesLeatherworks 3 года назад
@@youngmc5040 natural is not the most versatile like a dark brown, but what I love about natural is that it transforms the most over time and really shows its wear!!

Funny how loose grain in chromexcel is hated and loose grain in veg tan is considered cool patina. GS boots in double bend leather soles also wear very differently than the ones with rubber studded or commando soles.

Cool comparison. The pronunciation of Patina is (pəˈtēnə) or (pa-teen-a)
