Naturalistic/Bioactive Crested Gecko Vivarium Build (Housing Henry)

This video explains how to took a 20 gallon long aquarium and transformed it into a naturalistic/bioactive vivarium for one of my Crested Geckos, Henry. This project has been in the works for a few months and has now come to fruition.
I will say that it's a somewhat touchy subject on what tank size is appropriate for a Crested Gecko. Although bigger is always better, I strongly believe a 20 gallon setup is sufficient for Crested Geckos. The main requirement is the height.
Anyways, there is no comparison between this setup and what Henry was previously housed in. Enjoy!

Better than a lot of owners, but with this size of a vivarium certainly far away from the best owner.

Hey everyone! I am basically at 20k subs and I just want to thank you all so much! I am honestly shocked at how quickly this channel is growing. Expect content like this and what I have been putting out to continue. I also want to apologize that some terrarium updates haven't happened yet. I have about 20 projects going on right now and inevitably those fell by the wayside. I do intend to continue making updates, but I might cut out the 1 month updates. What do you all think? Also I'm trying to juggle all of this while holding a full time job, finishing up the new website and spending time with my family, fiance, etc. Finally I am curious. Which sounds more appealing, a nano paludarium or nano planted aquarium (7 gallons)? First one to 50 likes will make the decision! As always, thanks for watching. I truly appreciate you all. - Tanner

I would be VERY interested in learning how to build a carnivorous terrarium! I know that carnivorous plants all have different requirements so I'd like to know which ones can be planted with which.

I'm glad you mention things like expecting mold to occur. I had some nice drift wood I collected and sanitized for use in a small closed terarrium. It started molding after a week, so I thought I had messed up the sanitization, I ended up redoing the terrarium and trashing the wood.
@SerpaDesign
@SerpaDesign 5 лет назад
It's a very common occurrence. Usually goes away in a few weeks on its own.
@ey8648
@ey8648 4 года назад
What I do is introduce the inhabitant 1 week after the mold leaves the vivarium. I do this so my inhabitant won't get poisoned by the mold, and so the inhabitant can be introduced at a period where the springtail population is high.

PROTIP: Filling your Tupperware with water before trying to separate your plants will put less stress on them when you transplant- reducing the chances for mineral sweating or stunted growth.

Banzai27 facts!!!!
@themotions5967
@themotions5967 3 года назад
@@banzai2759 that’s actually partially incorrect. they are able to show comfort, and content behavior which are core tenants of happiness for even sentient beings, they can show physical signs of low stress and more frequently display confident behavior. All of these are clear signs of happiness for non human animals. A better way of saying it is that reptiles and amphibians being mostly solitary animals aren’t able to express happiness in the same way that social mammals, and birds are capable of, and reptiles are especially ineffective at displaying the existential concept of happiness with ones life as a larger concept as humans are uniquely able to do. This means there are two barriers of separation between our ability as humans to express happiness and this geckos ability to express the same core emotions. This also means that there are two barriers of understanding one must look past to accurately gauge whether this animal is actually happy. Realistically the only way to accurately gauge how happy this animal would be is to compare its health and behavior before and after moving into a new exhibit as at a surface level most of its happiness comes from accomplishing actions pertaining to its daily survival, while the other majority is rested to the animals physics wellbeing and enrichment. This is how people who work for non profits under the AZA determine the welfare of non social animals, that mostly lack the ability to outwardly express happiness in a way that we can relate to.
