Last time I was this early, the Emperor etc... Memes aside, a Necron Destroyer Lord was the first model I ever kitbashed, added two arms and a greenstuff crown. Looks like hell, but I still show it off proudly. It is old enough to drink, after all.
I still have my original Bjorn the fell handed dreadnought, I’ll take him to battle (possibly still banned 😂 long story) but I’ll never repaint or part with him, how could I part with such a close friend 👍👍
Still got my metal Necron Lord from 3rd edition. It's not much or as impressive, but it was my oldest model and the one GW no longer sell. It must be coming up to 12 years that I've had it
I have an unquenchable will to kill and purge the xenos - but the trouble is with necrons is that they're already dead, so by doing nothing.. have I already fulfilled by duties? Or am I thinking about this too much? Emperor guide me through these confusing times.
There’s an interesting parallel between the Obliterators and the Destroyers, both having their forms altered in order to better serve the function of being a weapon. I wonder who has better achieved that goal.
That is actually so depressing from a human perspective. The Old ones made the webway, then gave it to the eldar. They have used it's phenomenal powers ever since, and only The Emperor and Magnus (a bit) of all mankind had the wisdom and skill to try and take it for mankind. That went to hell, and ever since no human (other than perhaps Ahriman) have tried to master it. And then the Necrons just fucking cracks the codes and walk in like they own the place. The Necrons are sooo OP in the Lore.
Frankly I like it that way. They wouldn’t be half as terrifying if they were impotent and toothless. Yet also their power speaks to ages long past that even the age of 10’000 years ago would be small. A power that finally challenges the superiority of the Eldar.
If the Necrons do eventually manage to regain bodies of flesh and blood, the Destroyers surely would turn on the other Necrons, as having such bodies would definitely count as being life and thus the very thing the Destroyers wish to destroy

What first drew me to the dark glory of the Necrons was that they were the dread beings that could make even the legendary arrogance of the Eldar turn to utter fear.

You know the sad thing about necrons is they never embraced the change. They could be so much more then they are but they are hamstrung by bitterness and loss. As soulless mechanical entities their minds are unbound. They could repair the damage, emulate emotions and just delete the feeling of dreadfull loss of their souls... but their lords choose not to. Destroyers are different and yet; this is what they become. From slaves to uncaring lords to slaves to destruction. Khorne must weep to see such bloodshed with no emotions for him to feed on.

your writing is absolutely incredible, between this and your videos on and your videos on the war in heaven (especially the description of the necrons defeating the c'tan) have made the necrons go from being a faction i didn't care for whatsoever, into one of my favourite factions in the universe. i could never get interested in them until your story at the start of the ghost arks video got the necrons my attention, and the necrons defeating the c'tan cemented them as a faction i now love. again, just brilliant work!

TARGET +++ DESTROYERS +++ The Necrons have no qualms about killing. It often seems that they view the younger races, particularly humanity, as little more than vermin to be exterminated once they become a nuisance. However, Necrons usually kill only in order to accomplish some goal, and while Lords and Lychguards may appreciate testing their skill in battle against a worthy foe, the vast ranks of Warriors kill only as commanded, and derive no pleasure from it (or anything else, for that matter). There is a glaring exception to this rule: the Destroyers. Necrons consumed by a kind of madness, Destroyers are obsessed with the eradication of all life in the galaxy. This one overriding desire drives their every action. They fi ght not to gain territory, not for the honour of the Suhbekhar Dynasty, nor even to protect their tombs. Destroyers fi ght only to extinguish life, and they do so wherever it is found. To accomplish this hideous goal, Destroyers regularly perform modifi cations to their bodies that normal Necrons would consider self-mutilation. This commonly includes the replacement of legs with grav platforms and the permanent mounting of heavy weaponry in place of arms. These changes are frequently complemented by advanced targeting systems mounted on their skulls, and even modifi cations to their synthetic brains, trading any functions or knowledge that cannot be applied to the work of death for additional targeting parameters and attack patterns. The madness of the Destroyers is not limited to any single dynasty or world, and as with all others, the Suhbekhar has its share of Destroyers. The madness can only take root in those Necrons capable of some degree of independent thought and action, such as Immortals, Lychguards, and Deathmarks. As such, Destroyers are deadly and hardy combatants even before their augmentations. After their transformation, Destroyers typically forsake their previous armaments in favour of the terribly destructive gauss cannons or the even more powerful heavy gauss cannons. In battle, Destroyers are as chillingly effi cient as all other Necrons, as their mission to end all life is not based in emotion, but some terrible logic. Destroyers systematically destroy their enemies, seeking not a rout or any other victory save complete eradication. As throughout the Necron empire, Destroyers within the Suhbekhar dynasty are feared and shunned by their fellows, forming their own courts under the rule of Lords or even Overlords affl icted by the Destroyer madness. These courts exist outside of Necron society, pursuing their agenda of slaughter regardless of the wishes and interests of the less homicidal nobility. For this reason, the rulers of many tomb worlds see fi t to launch raids or otherwise provide targets for the Destroyers, in order that they might indulge their obsession without jeopardising the security of the tomb world. Target +++ DESTROYER LORDS +++ Even the Necron nobility are not safe from the madness of the Destroyers. When a Lord or Overlord of the Suhbekhar dynasty succumbs, a great threat to all life in the Jericho Reach is born. Ironically, the only reason the Imperium is not aware of the extent of this threat is precisely because these Destroyer Lords are so aptly named. No one has borne witness to the atrocities committed by these steel harbingers of apocalypse and lived, and so even the Dead Cabal can only guess at the threat stirring on barren worlds scattered across the Reach. While many Lords and Overlords are affl icted by “eccentricities,” the insanity that consumes the mind of a Destroyer Lord is something else entirely. Like other Destroyers, Destroyer Lords modify their bodies and minds, so that they might be better suited to their overarching purpose, to cleanse the stars of all life. While this most often includes the attachment of a suspensor platform in place of legs, Destroyer Lords tend to forgo the ranged weaponry favoured by other Destroyers in favour of melee weapons. The warscythe is a particular favourite, as a Destroyer Lord hovering above the heads of his enemies can take full advantage of the reach afforded by these massive weapons. Curiously, Destroyer Lords forgo the decorative fi nery commonly worn by Necron royalty. Whether this is representative of their single-minded obsession, an intentional statement, or a simple matter of practicality, none can say, for the Destroyer Lords are avoided by their former peers as much as the other Destroyers, and are not keen to engage in conversation (except to learn the location of potential targets). In battle, Destroyer Lords are truly dangerous enemies. The modifi cations to their forms leave them even more resistant to damage than other Necron royals. The grav-platform with which Destroyer Lords are fi tted grants maneuverability far greater than their more traditional brethren, while their power, skill, and determination to slaughter the living ensure few can hope to stand against them in battle. Even the mighty Deathwatch may be outmatched when they fi nally track down the cause of these “Destroyer Incidents.” A charging Destroyer Lord can skewer even an Adeptus Astartes in tactical dreadnought armour on his Warscythe; lesser foes are as little more than wheat for the harvest. Destroyer Lords rule over courts of Destroyers just as more stable nobles rule over their courts. These courts, these Destroyer Cults of the Red Harvest, are concerned not with politicking, or territory, or honour, or even power. They are concerned only with enacting their dread prophecy, with ensuring that the life which was denied them is denied the rest of the galaxy. Unlike other Necrons, Destroyer Lords and their followers have no desire for a return to the Time of Flesh; their transformation has shown them the weakness of the living and the hollowness of immortality. When the Destroyers are through with their bloody harvest, many Necron Lords fear that they will turn their aggression on their Necron brethren. To this end, some far-thinking nobles of the Suhbekhar dynasty are already crafting contingency plans to ensure a continuing bounty to occupy the Destroyer Cults. Target +++ Destroyer Lord, Lord Thulekh +++ Priority Level Omega Threat level Vermilion Extermination on site DEATHWATCH INTELLIGENCE The forces of the Deathwatch have engaged the mad Destroyer Lord Thulekh and his pack on several occasions, and have traced references to these berserk Necrons attacking seemingly at random throughout the entire Jericho Reach. It appears that Thulekh has been active for many centuries, perhaps even millennia, scouring the worlds of the Outer Reach and drenching them in blood throughout its long history. The masters of Watch Fortress Erioch have attached a high level of priority to curtailing Thulekh and his pack, though to date they have found no accurate means of predicting where they will attack next. Some have come to believe that the Destroyer Lord is being used deliberately as a weapon of terror and mass destruction, and that a higher intelligence is setting the killers loose as a distraction from other, more subtle endeavors
TAU VS NECRON NOVEL! I so want this! The oldest technological wizardry against the innovative upstarts! An Ethereal clearly seeing the expressionless death masks of the necron overlord and his lychguards, but feeling the full brunt of contempt and sorrow within their emerald eyes. Tau Earth caste scientists trying their best to get their hands on Necrons for the necrodermis, only for the fallen Necron cadavers to be teleported away from them. Stealth suit teams put to the test against wraiths and death marks. The Necron Overlord almost amused and impressed by the shiny trinkets the infants employ against his forces. The Overlord craning his neck to look down at the water caste embassadors, surprised and intrigued by how well they employ their words, "now you're talking my language" so to speak. Oh and the Tau veterans and their Battlesuits! Very good-- splendid even.... The Overlord looks over to the Triarch Praetorians, wondering if they'd see the Tau as worthy enough for the Necrons ancient war treaties. Codes enforcing honourable warfare, sparing the Tau from heinous acts, if not genocide. The Overlord would wait for their word.

I really hope the 9th ed codex we necron player gets will rules for playing destroyer cults instead of a normal dynasty. I've had a lot of fun painting up my new skorpekh lord and destroyer, to go along with my half dozen normal destroyers and converted old desteoyer lord.
You are not alone brother. I’m hoping that coded next month is a corker - options for cults, the king returned, the dragon. It’s looking good even I am beginning to believe Necrons may get their due.
