Aptly referred to as the Forbidden Valley, the Nelong watershed in the "Source of the Ganges" area has long been the object of curiosity among adventurers or those looking for escaping into Tibet like Heinrich Harrer. Ashutosh Mishra executed multiple explorations in his attempt to unravel some interesting aspects of this rarely visited valley including exploring an alternate route to Kalindi Khal from Gangotri temple to Badrinath temple. Join Ashutosh in his explorations of the Forbidden Valley of Janhavi.
Ashutosh Mishra pursues a career in Management Consulting with deep passion for the Himalayas. He has spent about 2 decades in exploratory expeditions in the Himalayan ranges of Kumaon, Garhwal and Kinnaur. Ashutosh combines modern technology with Himalayan explorations in team formation, route planning, navigation and visualization for such expeditions. He has been regularly published in mountaineering journals and awarded by the IMF for several interesting and pioneering adventures. Currently he is involved in diverse projects in the mountains, ranging from organic farming to renewable energy solutions and more interesting explorations.

A correction to make....the area under in Nelong watershed under Himachal (erstwhile Bushaher State of HP) came into force during the times of Raja Kehri Singh of Bushaher around late 1600s ...not Raja Karni Singh as mentioned by me here...thats a slip of narrative

Excellent presentation , I learnt a lot Thank You Ashutosh One quick question, the Chinese claim this valley along Jadh ganga, DOES INDIAN ARMY HAVE CONTROL OF PULUM SUMDA OR SUMLA/ SUMDA GAAD which is the source of Jhanvi ? We need to be agressive in implementing watershed principle to have complete control of our water sources Thanks
@ashutosh69gmailcom
@ashutosh69gmailcom Год назад
Sorry for replying late.... in fact the Sumla Gad headwaters as well as the Tsnag Chok La headwaters are all in our control ...all of Janhavi watershed ....its difficult logistically from their side as well...but they are present right next :-) Hope to peek iot their camps one day :-)

@@ashutosh69gmailcom Great to know that we are in control all the watershed of Janhavi /Jadh ganga which enetually meets the Bhagirathi ....we shud be very aggressive in watershed principle WRT tibet ...we should not allow the hans who are in illegal occupation of tibet to control water that flows into India ...as much as possible ...

@@ashutosh69gmailcom Thanks for quick reply. Exploratory expedition duration depend upon area, where u are exploring.Purpose was, to know, if river or Nallah get over flodded then difficult to cross.

@ashutosh69gmailcom 4 года назад
@@DHIRENMP1 they are unpredictable but the area usually gets lesser rainfall than main bhagirathi valley....usually not a show stopper in what we have seen so far
