Meru, a namesake of the Cosmic mountain of Indian mythology, rises up between Thalaysagar and Shivling, in a glorious trio of Southern, Central and Northern peaks in the Garhwal Himalaya. Meru North at 6,450m, is the second highest of the three. The first ever alpine-style ascent of Meru North was achieved by an Indo-Swedish team (Åke Nilsson, Birger Andrén, Charu Sharma, Mandip S. Soin & Dr. Tejvir S. Khurana) in 1986. The team took 6 days (round trip) to summit on 6 September, 1986. In this webinar Prof. Khurana recounts the extraordinary story of this historic ascent.
