Finally convinced my office we need to descale our machine LOL very helpful but definitely need to press the buttons for more than 3 seconds to enter descale mode
I followed this whole video and it worked PERFECTLY!!!! THANNKKKK YOU! ❤ only other thing I did was run the water through at the end 5 times for the lungo setting. Then i brewed my coffee and it tastes amazing! I descaled my machine because it started having a bitter taste to the coffee. Tastes brand new now!
the inissia manual (page 14) mention to descale between 1000 to 4000 cups of 40ml coffee depending of water hardness. I drink max 2 expresso per day so ~ 730 per year, so I need to descale every 2000 coffee because of water hardness, so it's ~2-3 years.

I rinse it twice instead of once with water before quitting the descalling mode. The very first espresso does taste weird, I wonder if it's "bitter" because it's clean or chemical taste. It's not that bad actually. I think it will be gone in next few coffee. At least it's done, it was like ~3-4years.
Followed your guide by heart, but instead of 2 times washing with fresh water I washed 5 and also wasted 2 coffee capsules to be safe.. And it works wonders! No sign of chemical into my coffee and works again like new!
My first time to use the descaling solution. I rinsed 2 times and switched it off. Now that I’ve read your suggestion, could I just switch on the Descaling mode again and let water run through the system a few times?
@@jayant408 yeah of course I don't think it will harm your machine.. you can even try it without descale just waste 2 cheap coffee capsules and your coffee will be fine

No problems with the instructions and only run an extra 1.5 liters through and coffee is fine and descaling solution not toxic unless you drink it straight.
Flashing lights got stuck. Called the help line, and was told to do the descaling again, following the RU-vid video. Did not want to do that as I would be using a second descaling liquid pouch. Looked up video online on how to fix the issue. Found a RU-vid video with very simple instruction, which was to hold both buttons for 5 seconds. It worked. In case anyone out there has the same poor service from Nespresso, this is how you get it un-stuck

Just did the descaling and as everybody says you need to rinse it with water at least 5-6 times. You can smell the water and see the clarity of the water to understand if there is still some chemicals in the system. I did that rinsing cycle 5 times I believe and then pulled 2 espresso shots to make sure it is okay.
Please could you forewarn that in the process the water tray must not be emptied to the last drop, that you have to watch and push to stop if it is going to be empty, because the air can go inside the machine and you will have a new problem, the machine will not pour water again. I had to throw away my inissia coffee machine because I think I burned it trying to return it to the normal operation. So, better not to do this operation, but if you are going to do it, watch the water tray, don’t let it be emptied

My mum forgot to take off the capsule (used) from the machine and it stayed there when we were descaling our machine. Should we repeat the descaling process?
Grazie per la spiegazione, sono riuscita a fare la decalcificazione ma, come ho visto in altri commenti, ho tenuto premuto più di 3 secondi per accedere alla modalità indicata, ho aspettato il necessario finché le luci hanno iniziato a lampeggiare velocemente. I followed the instructions as well and i decided to flush it with clean water twice(i only use purified water to begin with) and i didn't taste any of the solution, i brewed an espresso just with water and could taste anything but water. The cloudy water is just heated up water it clears if you let it sit for a bit....
3 seconds? not on mine, more like 6-7 seconds. also it sometimes needs to be unplugged during the process because it won't start the next cycle no matter what i press. lastly, it takes about 10 cycles of 500ml just to get the taste of the descaling solution out of the espresso.
Love my machine, BUT, the fucking generic, one size fits all instructions and directions are the worst. Been rinsing this thing forever to get the smell AND particles flushed out.
If I use distilled water all the time, do I still have to descale the machine? I use an old coffee maker that also has the steam thingy, never had problems using distilled water. I want to buy and try one, but I'm scared of the chemical part thou....
In addition to clearing mineral buildup from inside the machine, descaling also aids in cleaning the machine internally from coffee grinds and other contaminants. I'd love it more if the bloody water didn't taste of descaling solution after five cycles of clean water. There are people on this thread who have had to run thirty cycles and still can't get rid of the taste.
dear Nespresso: any answers on all the people who have problems with still tasting the descaling kit in their machines even though they ran water through it several times? I might have the same problem. 4 cycles of water and still it's blury. Haven't tried to prepare coffee yet though.

Buongiorno Maria, nella fase iniziale quando accendi la macchina i due simboli della tazza lampeggiano( indicano che il riscaldatore è attivo) quando finiscono di lampeggiare si può entrare nella modalità decalcificazione( tieni premuti i due tasti simultaneamente per 3 secondi) poi segui il resto del video, quando finisci tutto io ti consiglio di risciacquare bene il contenitore acqua. Anche l'ultima fase del video dove fa ricircolare solo acqua da un contenitore all'altro per pulire le parti interne dal decalcificante io lo ripeto 3/4 volte.
I got through one cycle of descaling and then my machine presumably air locked and now there is no flow through and out through the coffee outlet, any official advice on how to solve this?

Thanks for your query! We definitely recommend descaling your machine even if you use spring water. Depending on the spring, it can contain even more minerals than tap water. Descaling also helps to remove any oil or coffee ground buildup which may occur during extraction of the coffee. Regarding when to descale, the timescale varies on use, the machine type and your water's hardness. Some machines have an alert for it. As a broad rule we advise descaling at least every 6 months and for some machine even sooner. If you start noting slower flow, cooler coffee or granules in the cup, these are also good signs a descale will help.

Helpful tutorial, but I had to press the buttons 8 seconds to enter and to exit the descaling mode ; 3 secs were not enough. Also you should empty the drip tray after each iteration, or it will quickly overflow.

Guys, are you sure that you used instructions exactly for Inissia? Perhaps, you used it for another model? I'm asking because i did just as the video says and everything is fine. No chemical taste or smell. Coffee, by the way, became better after this operation.
When I go for descaling mode my pixie went ded. Then i pressed both buttons for 3 secs it started to descale and lights were blinking. Is this correct behaviour?
Hi John, we recommend using filtered water, however, if you use tap you may just need to descale your machine, or run the cleaning cycle more often due to the water hardness level.
this descaling mode is not working, I press it starts blinking but then it starts working without pressing lungo and then I cannot enter the lungo mode again, it keeps blinking no matter what I press. So I had to take to turn it off completely and just press lungo as in making regular coffee... not sure if I did it correctly

Very important note: after the first and the second descaling process, empty the dip tray, which you can see at 0:46 If you don’t do that then water will flow out from the dip tray. // Fontos: az első és második vízkőtelenítési folyamat után, az alsó csepegtető tartályt ki kell üríteni (ami 0:46 -nál látható), különben kifolyik a víz a kávéfőző alá.
if that is happening it means you need to take the unit apart and clean the inside of the part where the coffee capsules go. There is a plate in there that gets really gunked up. There are several youtube videos on how to disassemble these units. It’s a little involved, but only takes a few hours to get back to a perfectly working machine again.
Nice descaling video, however one key point is missed; how to stop the machine once the descaling fluid passes through the the machine? I pushed every combination of buttons I could think of but couldn’t stop the machine until I unplugged it!
Thank you for the video, but my machine doesn't start descaling after pressing both buttons for 3 sec. That drove me mad. I pushed buttons simultaneously and they simply stopped glowing (switched off), so after some efforts I managed to start descaling using a scheme: buttons stop blinking, push them for 5 sec, they stop glowing, push them again for few seconds, then the descaling starts. It takes about 10 seconds. I think you should update your video to list the actual process, like "push for 4-10 seconds".

Disastro completo. Ho riempito con mezzo litro di acqua e la soluzione ma non ho abbassato il meccanismo di chiusura. Non mi sono accorto che la soluzione stava uscendo dal fondo e ho allagato la cucina. Ho ripetuto l'operazione correttamente con la seconda busta del kit. Come se non bastasse dalle foto non avevo capito che andava reinserita la soluzione uscita e lho pure gettata via. Quindi ho fatto un ciclo con soluzione uscita chissà da dove è un secondo senza reinserimento. Mi chiedo che devo fare ora. Non ho capito se poi l'acqua da mixare con la soluzione debba essere di rubinetto o di bottiglia.

After the descaling process I threw away 2 cups full of water. Then I tried my first cup of coffee and i could taste the chemicals, the second was similar, 3rd cup tasted okayish, 4th cup was similar to the original but traces of chemicals came back, 5th cup tasted nearly right, 6th cup tasted like heaven but I had to rush to A+E as I was scared at how fast my heart started beating.
