What makes me stay centred when I like a man? I remind myself of my self-worth and boundary: I can like the person as he is and it has nothing to do with him liking me back or not. I come from a place of abundance, I find ease in this belief and relax. If he initiates and reaches out to me, great, I respond with warmth. If he doesn't, that's okay, I continue to find joy and create fulfilment in my own life. My happiness is not anchored on him, it is on me. "A bird sitting on a tree is never afraid of the branch breaking, because her trust is not on the branch but on it’s own wings" - I remind myself so, don't lose myself in a man, and to keep my wings strong by focusing to create the life I want.

I will say that the right guy will take enough initiative that you will not even have the opportunity to chase him. I believe we end up chasing someone because they aren't pulling their weight and we feel unhappy and unloved in the relationship. An empathetic, loving and caring person would not leave you hanging and waiting when they know what you want.

Absolutely! I recently met a girl who I have only had short brushes with and I'm going through a sad and frustrating time. She was super nice to me and non judgmental. It took me a few times running into her and I felt this sudden jolt in my guts. It told me there is something very special about her. What helped me stay centered was deliberately choosing to enjoy and prioritze my blessings ie. my friends, church and my family. Knowing that a part of me really just wanted to run and give him all of me. It felt like going against the grain but it worked and turned out it was the best choice. Not to play games but to keep the mindset that if this doesn't work out between us, well I still have this amazing life ♡

I agree with Mat - You should never chase after anyone… if you chase after them, it’s only natural for them to run away - it’s human nature! What you want to do instead is: “Take two steps forward, one back”, that’s the method you want to use… meaning, when you give him attention, or do things to show him that you are interested - take a step back… and see if he reciprocates - start doing the same… because in order for any relationship to work, it’s going to have to be a two way street. Just be friends with him haha. And keep being friend. One day from friend can turn to be something. Not guarantee 100% but after you be friends with him for a while you might realize he's not boyfriend material. And you're just chilling and got one more good friend. No need to chase. This is honestly the right way to go. It’s a no pressure approach to take which makes it easier for the guy to make it “his idea” if you let him lead and show him that you only want friends might eventually feel the need to change that. Honestly, I always find that I attract the men I want when I am in my lane, working on my goals, learning, caring about my health etc. It becomes easy to find men because I feel confident and relaxed. Anytime I am too focused on chasing men or trying to make myself fit into a mold of what they want, the ones I’m attracted to disappear.

All the advice was spot on. What really made me take a step back and go "wait hold tf up" was when I was really thinking whether I liked him for HIM or just liked the IDEA of him (similar to your 2nd point). As someone who tends to see the potential in everyone, I always get carried away by my own thoughts and put people on a pedestal when in reality, they didn't even show any of the qualities I've labelled on them. Right now, school, my hobbies and work has made me occupied and reflective of myself. I think the best advice is to not put all your eggs into one basket - meet and interact with more people so that you don't get too invested into just one person and make them seem like your whole world.

Brilliant advice and succinctly put. I just came across you Mat, I appreciate your insights. What helps me stay centered is remembering my value and not expecting anything when I first meet someone. However, I met someone recently that I really like and I notice the thoughts coming up that I'm so lucky and why would he like me? Which is not empowering, it comes from old messages that I'm not good enough. I need to remember my value and not value him beyond what he's actually shown me. Take it slow, enjoy my work and friends and family and time alone and see what he actually offers as we go along. We both have value.

What heps me stay centered is keeping the awareness in my sensations and also in my activities more than in what the other person does or does not. It also helps me expressig myself with that person when I like something or when I am grateful (it turns to be something about me, in a good way). It heps me trying to not be so rigid about what should be, but also conscious about my values and what I need, and acting accordingly to that. I try to enjoy everything and, the most important for me to stay centered, to be in the "learning mode" about every situation.

I would say first priorities! Staying on top of what I need to maintain for my personal well being. I realize respecting myself in ways that are taking care of my personal needs knowing that at the right time the right man will want to step in and get to know me more. Examples: I took a vacation to see family to reset myself, I am making sure I am getting things done for my buisness and new job, all things that keep me happy and full to give more to this man who shows he cares!! :)

Dude I just got something amazing out of this video. Like many women, I wasn't raised by a great dad. At least not one who encouraged or protected me in any way I was on my own. But earlier today I started to obsess about someone I'm crushing on who at first seemed to be interested, and then wasn't. I remembered the third tip in the video: it's him, or someone better. It helped change my mindset, just like that. The other thing I got was this dad energy. I didn't just change my thinking, I felt protected and secure - like I knew it was going to be okay. That was a brand new experience for me. I've never really 'got it' when people talk about how masculine energy protects because I had never felt it before. So THAT's what it's supposed to feel like to be protected. The underlying feeling of existential dread I've had since childhood went away and was replaced by a sense of safety and warmth. Thanks Dad! Question: What would you tell women what their dads would want for them in a partner?

What helped me stay centred when I first met my attractive partner, was the fact that for the first time in my life I was content in myself and with the life I was leading. I had an interest which was to do with my own creativity and did not involve looking for someone. In fact, I met him through that mutual interest. I realise that in the state of 'looking for someone', one has left one's own centre, which weakens one's own power. One needs a relationship with oneself before one can have a fulfilling relationship with another.

Thanks for your valuable and timely advice. I find myself compulsively falling into a loop of chasing fence sitting men who play hard to get. They're half in and always half out and relationships with them seem to largely benefit them, not me. I acknowledge feeling desperate, weaker, dissatisfied, hurt, wanting every single time. But now I feel empowered and more aware about drawing a line and taking corrective measures. The fact of the matter is: I matter more.

Hey Matt, I went out with a local singles group and we broke into teams for an activity. One guy in our team seem to buy shots so after the second shot I said "you are my chaperone. Don't loose me in the crowd" and he smiled when he agreed. Gave me his arm as we hopped from one ace to another. When our activity finished he pulled my chair out, I sat while he stood by me. I said "Before you have too many beers I'd like a kiss." He smiled saying "we'll see how the night goes" so I replied "if I'm not your cup of tea or you have an interest in someone else you will not hurt my feelings, no pressure." He said "We'll see how the night goes" with a smile. We got separated but he ensured I was with the group. Since then we have messaged back and forth. I noticed I usually initiate but he responds quickly. Finally I told him I would like to hang out and get to know him better because I find him attractive. He did explain in detail about work, school and he just doesn't make time to date, only friends. I have rarely fallen for any guy so quickly. I was shocked at the emotuons and reflected asking myself how I could have this attraction. Beyond his physical appearance I enjoyed our conversation and his very kind personality. It's that sincere kindness which melted my heart. I cannot stop thinking of him. Everyone in our group likes me and everyone seems to like him too. I've been set on leading my happy single life. Now, this guy has become my template and I don't want anything less. I stopped messaging him about 10 days ago. I've reminded myself "If he was really interested he would make time." I am telling myself not to make him what I want him to be but just a kind friend. A beautiful night with friends. Nothing more. Move on. We are not at the same stage or path in life. I'm glad we never kissed. That would've made this very difficult.

At first, all my focus is on the guy. But then I flip a switch and put the focus on myself. It’s so easy to think ‘they’re perfect…’ etc. But then I think, what do *I* want, what do *I* need. I don’t need *do* anything. I take a step back, live my life, be myself. If they’re interested and I’m open, they’ll gravitate towards me and something can grow, whether it’s friendship or more. The main thing is I don’t loose myself.
