Nice!!! Clean setup. Simplicity is a great thing. Good call on reversing the battery. Would leave one of the older chargers as a backup onboard. At minimum it could charge the motor batteries to get you home if the new charger ever fails. Would also rig up an emergency charge cable for the 12v outlet on the generator to use in a pinch for either battery bank.

Nice vid Cap, today I unwrapped my Straight Pilot House lol, replaced my seaspension for a pro pedestal (same guy that created seaspension) added a rear view mirror, added oil to my seastar steering, charged my batteries, purchased an outboard flushing bag. Only thing I hate is how dirty my deck and cabin floor gets. I envy yours.

On the Minn Kota charger, I have model MK345PC which has 3 banks. I can set each bank for different types of batteries. I now have 4 Group 31 Duracell AGM batteries from Sams Club(Best price). 2 are connected together to make one large house battery, the other 2 are one each for each outboard. My House batteries are now 6 years old and going strong with 500amp Carbon Pyle tester verification! I also have those same battery tenders I started with which are excellent, but at only 1.5 amps, takes a long time to charge. They are really best for long term storage and slower charging. The Minn Kota's put out 15 amps per bank. Both the battery tenders and Minn Kota's are smart chargers, so no worries of overcharging or cooking the batteries.
@OutOnTheReef
@OutOnTheReef 3 года назад
Awesome information captain and yes those batteries at Sam's Club are the best price and they're awesome batteries I have purchased them before but the reason I didn't get those it was because the size of the storage capacity that I have they were too big and I could not tell them the ones I bought their completely sealed and I can tell them in anyway that's why I got those at Amazon but they're also AGM they just a little bit more expensive. Thanks for the awesome information captain and enjoy your boat
@Grady252
@Grady252 3 года назад
@@OutOnTheReef Sure Cap! Thanks! By the way, the Duracell AGM's are sealed and can be mounted in any position except for upside down. You could gain more battery life with Group 31's mounted on their ends if you had the height. Just a thought if you ever need more battery.....however, with the Generator and stronger NOCO charger, you can recover faster now.
@OutOnTheReef
@OutOnTheReef 3 года назад
@@Grady252 very true cap. I carry for my minn kota battery bank 300 amps and in a good day i will get like 9 hrs In bad days 6 hrs but i just turn the generator on an now unlimited battery power and the generator will do almost 10 hrs of run time in 1 gallon of fuel The reason I did not get larger battery was for the space on my bench seat and also for the extra weight I cannot carry a lot of weight the current batteries I have now they're about 60 lb each i think
@poppabear9279
@poppabear9279 3 года назад
By the way, You think about running solar panels on your Parker? I have a 200 watt system I’m probably going to temporarily mount on my boat if they fit correctly. I have the charge controller and all the items for it to fully convert over to full time solar. With just 200 watt solar, you can recharge your batteries constantly. 200 / 12v = 16.67 amps continuous. 17AH x 10 hours of sun would give you 170 amps of recharge per day into your deep cycles and the batteries for the Minnkota. I don’t have that fancy electronic anchor you have yet, but might have to get one after watching your videos. Tight lines capt!
@OutOnTheReef
@OutOnTheReef 3 года назад
Yes Captain the windless is amazing Once you get one you never go back and the reason I don't use solar is because I am drawing close to 2,000 Watts because I'm running the AC conditioner the ice machine and Aldis chargers at the same time so I'm consuming a lot of power so solar will never be able to replenish my use overnight

Hey, if you feel like joining me and towing up to North Carolina, you can join us in my Parker 2520, not-so-crooked pilothouse to run out for some Mahi, Yellowfin tuna, red drum and play out in the pelagic water for a couple days. Invite is open. You’ll definitely slam us on bottom fishing with that Minnkota. We have a large house and property (ranch) out here you can stay and charge up for the next day. Not sure if you’re interested but we will likely be running anywhere from 35-65 miles offshore for mahi. Not sure if you have outriggers or downriggers. Anyways, invite is open bud. Not sure if you can trailer this far but looks like your Mercedes is more than capable. Just not sure about the trailer. Anyways, we are dialed for the season. @@OutOnTheReef absolutely my friend. We have some albacore videos up on my main channel from slaying tuna fish sandwiches back in California. We left that state about 2-1/2 years ago to come to the land of freedom and the amazing fishing out here on the east coast. I agree with timing and being swamped. I own and operate 2 businesses here and we’ve been so busy here. I just have to find the time in life to enjoy things, or else it passes you by so fast. Anyways, if you start thinking about it, and you find this invite too hard to resist, I can shoot you my anonymous contact info to email me and you can go from there. Heck, you don’t even need to tow north, you can just hop on my Parker, but thought it would make some cool content to show you trailered north to come play with huge bluefin or some mahi/yft and big game up here. Not sure if you have outriggers but I paused the video to look at your setup in the corners of the pilothouse and don’t think I saw anything mounted on the pilothouse. Anyways my friend, I’m so glad I found your channel. Upsetting that Linwood Parker didn’t assist you in getting your boat “straightened” around. Parker has always been pretty good quality and good with customer service. Shocked to hear they didn’t fix it, as that’s a huge quality control issue you’d think. Now you have more weight on one side of the boat. Have you weighted your Parker on a scale, to see the weight offset on each side then balance your load from there? The taller side may be a couple hundred pounds heavier or more creating an off balance load situation. The fiberglass is pretty thin. I can’t even imagine how they cut the pilothouse crooked out of the mold like that. Insane. I’ll measure my 2520 this afternoon to see if it’s symmetrical or maybe I too have a crooked pilothouse #2 😂😂 Ok captain. Have a wonderful Sunday. Appears we are headed for some bad weather this afternoon, tornadoes and bad storms headed towards us, so no fishing for me today. We are doing a full tuneup anyways and detailing the boat. We have a FLIR thermal camera on our boat as well, but the remote went bad so I have to swap the camera. I have two FLIR cameras, so time to rebuild one of them. Tight lines captain!

@@OutOnTheReef I just found your channel not long ago, and got intrigued. Most people in North Carolina, all the way down to Florida don’t run Parkers or pilot house boats. They’re running center consoles. I’ll take my 3 Nautical MPG and my awesome range any day, over being able to go 90mph from one fuel pump to the next. Anyways, I was intrigued with your channel for the reef and bottom fishing, but haven’t seen you trolling for pelagics, or tuna or anything except for one rapala you dragged behind your crooked pilot house in one video. I don’t have a lot of time to watch, but I’ve learned a lot from your channel as far as the bottom fish species. Being born and raised and fishing my entire life in California, everything is totally different out here. I mastered fishing for king salmon, rock and structure fishing some of the best water for every type of rock fish imaginable in the cold waters of far north California (Humboldt) targeting and catching massive ling cod, specifically like we were bass fishing, then, changing everything up and going after Halibut, then, usually as the warm water moved north, we would slay tons of albacore tuna, occasional yellow tail (similar to an amber Jack) around reef clusters, or even playing with rare swordfish. But, this fishing out here is a whole different world. So, I watch you identify the fish on camera, showing the stripes, shapes and identity of certain fish and try to absorb it. Anyways, that’s why I did the invite. I will have to catch up on some of your videos to see if you fish for pelagics, or if you go after YFT, BFT, Mahi, etc. if not, you’re missing out on an incredible world of some of most intense fishing ever. But you need a crew for that for sure. We fish between 8 and 12 lines at the same time trolling. 6-8 lines if we have live bait. We usually run a crew of minimum 3 people for tuna, but have done well with just 2. I’ve solo fished for albacore once, when a new buddy who swore he wouldn’t get sea sick, started getting sick 40 miles offshore. Thank god for autopilot. I still put 16 fish in the box by myself, even gaffing my own fish, deploying my 12 line spread, bleeding, icing, and packing my fish well. We are old pros at that style but this east coast water has been amazing to learn and your channel has been instrumental in seeing the fish and identifying them and I greatly appreciate it. If you decide to troll rapalas again to move 6 miles and eat some food, try using about 10-15 ft of 40-50lb fluorocarbon on your leader next time, pick up your troll speed to 5-6kts if you have the right type of rapalas. Keep your lines flat so the lures don’t break the surface. We use Scotty rod holders and intentionally point them at the water off the rails. We use Yo Zuri and Rapalas, which like to be trolled fast and shallow, putting them all over the water column. The pelagic fish don’t like to hit just one bait, but will come up from deep and use that energy if they think it’s an entire school of fish. But one rapala alone won’t cause them to expend the energy. 6-8 of them, and that’s a different story. We usually troll 1-2 rods in the overhead as well, using small silicone rubber swim baits called “Fish traps” on 40lb Spider wire and 30lb flouro, way back behind the boat. One lure even as far back as 300 yards. We usually troll at least 2 rapala or similar divers off the sides of the boat, even when we are trolling feathers or cedar, daisy chains or spreader bars out back. Ok, I could talk about this crap all night. Yes, FLIR cameras are expensive. I designed and made mine. It’s on a return to zero mount, remote controlled and can even see the water temp break when running out to the warm water break. Have a good night. Gonna go get some food. Tight lines my friend! Cheers.
