Thought I was maniatico in doing stuff, used to be that way, getting slower now pushing 80, 😢 but still at it, I'll stop when my # is up, finished rebuiling, customizing a 1971, 17' Orlando Clipper, repowered w/Evinrude 60 hp. E Tec, not as good as yours but serves my purpose, have to be able to rely on my lonesome, looks like we have something in common, tight lines ! "Bravo"
Thank you captain for sharing all of these videos about your boat. We were planning to buy a pilot boat for our trash pick up and Lionfish dives but based on your experiences with this boat, we are leaning towards a walk around Proline. Be safe out there.
Hi Capt... Wow, unbelievable! That is a lot of work! I look forward to seeing how you finish the inside.... I don't like the carpet either. It's just a cheap way, and a lot of boat companies use it. At least the carpet is a step-up (a small step!) from the 'bunny-fur' junk that was used on a lot of boats in the 1970's-1980's... The 'carpet' is a sore subject with a lot of boaters, including a lot of Parker owners.... I clean ours with Resolve carpet cleaner and vacuum it about once a year. So far, in our climate it has not been too bad...
Very true captain and especially here in Florida there's more humidity so that's why probably your boat is a lot better conditions than mine even though mine is newer
Nice job! I ripped out all the carpeting from my 21' bowrider this past summer and put down a product called Tuff Coat. You will be itching for a day or two. Can grind that smooth around the pump out pipe for a more finished look. Can't wait to see the finished product!
I’m at a loss for words here Capt-You went off the hook on this one my friend.Im sure you have a good plan to make it all look ok I’m looking forward to that. My boats cabin is All vinyl. It’s applied the same way as the carpet only it’s not carpet.I doesn’t get mildew spots on it And it’s very good looking. That’s always an option man-that should only take a year to install to your standards😝can’t wait to see the next phase man
Hi again Capt. from Michigan. That is a very ambitious project. My Polar 23 Walkaround cabin is white gelcoat. I like it, it’s bright and easy to clean. Looking forward to see how you finish it.
Having geocode is awesome but I think I'm going to like what I'm going to do to the pilothouse next week I'll show you the results captain and thank you for watching
I keep a dehumidifier in my cabin running at all times with an extension cord to my house. I also have a big fan in there that runs on a timer twice a day for 30min. No mildew.
Big project captain, but I’m sure it’s going to come out better than factory. You always take your time to get things done right, I can’t wait to see the next video.
You are a brave man, Capt! Make sure you always utilize dehumidifiers when you are finished. I have 3 in our boat. One went down a couple weeks ago and you can def smell and feel the humidity - and I am in So. Cal!
Me isiste reir capitan , creeme creo que te ba a encantar el resultado. Estoy travajando duro para enseñartelo en el procsimo video la procsima semana. Saludos y buenas noche😁👍✌
You just can't leave stuff alone! LOL! 🤣 And that's what I love about you! Good job getting that carpet out of there! That would have just caused health problems for sure! Can't wait to see what's next! Thanks for sharing! 😎👍⚓
When you are done, I would add a dehumidifier. I had the same issue and I put a dehumidifier in and it helped tremendously. Good luck with your project Capt.
@@johnr423 yes I agree very true but now I have to remove the carpet and paint it with commercial Marine Paint I'm not going to have that problem anymore
Out On The Reef Still use the dehumidifier. It’s all about moisture. You are in south Florida so except maybe for 3 months a year the humidity is 85% plus. That along with air circulation will keep not only the mildew away but make the cabin smell better. Its why a closed up live well or coffin box that is all gelcoat mildews also, need to air them out as much as possible
I agree is much better about to have a dealer in my state when I went to buy this one and yes next week I'll show you a video how it came out hopefully it comes out good LOL
You lost your marbles captain! I haven’t see a cabin boat with carpet that didn’t have a little mildew.. just keep a dehumidifier on at the house or a Mildew rid off bucket and be done . But you enjoy hard work , so forget it
lol yes i love to make the boat my own, especially by taking this nasty carpet, and you saw how much dust it created wen i took it off, is just cheap carpet that does not belong on a boat, but thanks for the tip.
When you have your boat at home, you may want to put some Damprid in. It'll help in drawing out the moisture. May help in keeping some of the mold growth down.
I don't think this thin carpet was making a huge noise reduction because the other day was raining it was no difference with the carpet thing without it but we'll see as time goes on I will keep you updated captain
Awesome Captain by the middle of next week you'll have the results I'm working hard on it so you can have it by then, I'll give you as many pointers as I can to help you
Awesome video once again ! I commented on another video about a Steiger craft (which has no carpet)- are you happy with the enclosed cockpit or do you wish it were open with roll up canvas ? Any issue with the step down ? Do port and starboard windows also open ?
I like the closed-door in the back but the step down you really need to get used to it because you're going to hit your head a lot until it hurts enough that you remember lol
You are going to find without the carpet it will get much hotter, the carpet is also for Insulation. Great Job I was wondering what you are replacing the carpet with.
On my 1992 Grady, we call that material monkey fur. I clean it with Clorox cleanup, once a year. Slept 100s of nights in the cabin. Bulletproof though. Where I used to keep the boat guys just ran the ac all the time, the humidity in the cabin was so heavy, you can see it like a fog. Otherwise some guys keep an incandescent bulb lit. But I even get mold on the underside of the hardtop, and I don’t use canvas anymore. I bet mold on the plastic pads on the armrests, and the poly seat components. 3M makes a spray for anti mold, don’t know if it works. I stay with the Cleanup, just have to let it soak, keep it wet. Then I use a vinyl treatment. Doesn’t last a season in NY.
Awesome work pal! Looks great. Wondering if you could do me a favor. In an earlier video, you had a solar shower and curtain that you used. Could you tell me which video and what you are using? Finally retired 2 months ago.... picking up my C-dory 22 cruiser next week and want to show the better half your shower set-up. Many thanks!
Here's the link of the video I think you're talking about and congratulation on your retirement and also on your c-dory new purchase ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Hz94aMd-2DE.html
Parker uses a lot of wood on their boat (I hope it's type marine wood). I noticed when you drill your deck to install the fridge wood particle after the fiberglass.
yes it is , and is marine grade i tested it by leaving a piece of wood from the boat outside for 2 years and is intact i was surprised, the wood is great quality cap.
After you burned off the hairs what did u do to prep it before paint?? I ripped the carpet out in the v birth and got the hairs and glue left behind. I can burn off the hairs but this glue left behind is nearly impossible to get off clean even with acetone. Thanks project looks great.
Well Jeff what I did I paint over it and it looks a little rustic but it looks great in my case I don't know how bad your sis but it's a little rough in some areas but the white pain has that a little bit and if you use the paint I use use very thin coats because if you apply steak and takes a long time to dry
Why you need this carpet? It looks like the carpet covers the bad fiberglass job Parker did. Go and see Jeanneau NC 695 - similar boat. No carpet, just perfect fiberglass walls and cushions. Looks clean!!!
Mike A I went with the Steiger craft because of the construction all hand laid fiberglass, fiberglass stringer system fiberglass deck there’s no plywood. The Steiger craft has more weight gives a nicer ride. Plus there is no step down to go into the cabin. Just my two cents.
which means Parker boats use a cheap type of carpet instead of mildew resistant carpet for marine use, I need to do the same thing on my pilot house due to exposure to sun and started to deteriorate from UV.
@@Ceviche956 Respectfully, I disagree. You are going to hear every wave hitting the hull much louder than you would with material. I don't think underway will be a problem. I think sleeping, talking, watching a movie at night, etc will be the issue.
@@Ceviche956 awesome to know captain and yes once I tried in the ocean I don't think it's going to make that much difference. Thanks for your comments captain
Do you leave the boat closed up with no ventilation when you are not using it? You might consider adding a solar vent plus the Damp Rid I mentioned earlier. Safe travels.
What about using a dedicated dehumidifier instead of AC? It will reduce the true humidity levels further. You could just set the unit in the pilot house when it’s in the driveway and empty the tank every few days
Having a constant active flow of air even when the bodt is in storage stops mildew. Well it did for me. Google solar boat ventilator. They are quiet, effective, easy to install, sucking out up to 20 cubic meters of air and also run at night from the inbuilt battery that charges again during the day.
@@OutOnTheReef yes but your air conditioner is only on so much. Just 3 days of stagnant air will grow mildew already. A solar ventilator works 24 hrs , 7 days of the week and the whole year.
Ductwork for right now with no carpet I don't think I'm going to have that problem anymore soon I will upload the video showing you the results captain
Yes it is Kenneth especially if you sleep on board with a generator it's a must and even though my generator faces the back of the boat and there's no carbon monoxide coming into cabin but for peace of mind I install one and thank you for being awesome viewer of my channel captain
my trophy had the same problem , after stripping out the carpet and painting it seemed to have gotten worse do to the difference in temperature between the water and cabin. try some marine stretchable vinyl and glue
It doesn’t take too long before mildew and mold take over boat cabins in Florida . I’ve seen boats less than a year old that you couldn’t stand to be in the cabin because of the smell . It will be interesting to see what product you use inside . Like someone else suggested. I think you’ll have to use something to deaden the sound . But what ? There most be a material that’s resistant to mold and mildew??? And like someone else brought up how is the adhesive going to react to whatever you put on ? Something to think about maybe ?
All great suggestions and questions Philip, I'm going to apply six coats of Marine Paint that is chemical resistance so I can clean it easily inside with anything the removes engine that grows on it. As far as the sun goes I don't think it's going to be a big problem
Out On The Reef sir you may revolutionize the way they build boat cabins in the Tropics because of the high humidity. I think you’re onto something Captain . Just a thought to consider . Do a two tone paint scheme to break things up . Possibly paint the ceiling a darker shade , like the color of the cushions . Also some trim pieces to break things up a bit . I’m sure whatever you decide will turn out better then before . Good Luck Captain . Can’t wait to see the finished product in one of you’re video’s.
@@phillipternullo4934 does an awesome idea what I have right now is white gloss Marine Paint but I think you're going to like it next week I'll show you the video of how everything came up hopefully you'll find it good
Cap, sometimes I wonder if you are mi hermano de otra madre. We both seem to have the same OCD when it comes to our boats. But you have gone too far. This seems job seems insurmountable. I wish you much luck and patience. Can’t wait to see how it turns out.
LOL my brother Paul and yes we both have OCD but that's a good thing because our boats need to be immaculate and soon next week by the middle of next week I'll have the results for you I'm working hard on it
Man just one problem after the next with that boat. Its a good thing you know how to fix all those thing yourself. Us normal people would have paid big bucks to fix all those problems.
LOL you're right but with a problem of this crooked Pilot House I don't think I could ever get a 25 foot due to the argument with the manufacturer of my crooked pilothouse lol is all good i will make this 21 feet feel like a yacht 😁👍👍
I think this ai good idea, however I disagree on reason they use carpet. The main reason is to reduce noise in the cabin from running the boat on the water. If they wanted to just cover up imperfections then they would'n't have put the sound mat under the carpet and also because its faster and cheaper than gel coat to keep the overall cost down. You forgot to mention that removing all that carpet and mat removed some weight. How much weight did all that carpet and mat weigh?
The first function of any air conditioner is to remove humidity if the unit is too big for the boat it will cool down very fast but never run long enough to to dehumidify happens in houses all the time
Out On The Reef I’m curious to know if the fiberglass will developed condensation when ac in on I know fiberglass won’t grow mold but I’m thinking mold developed on your carpet due to condensation
I’ve owned many Parker’s over the years. The older ones didn’t have carpeting, only paint. The finish was pretty rough and every fastener was exposed. You are going retro.
Out On The Reef it’s all in the prep work, my friend. Sand and fill as best you can. I own the same boat as you and enjoy your channel. I have learned many good things.
Hi Captain good morning can you send me a link about the shark repellent Equipment The one you use on your feet please and also Tell me if that thing work for you thank you captain have an Excellent day
Thank you Captain and yes I have the link in the description below check it out through the list and you'll find it there and what I can tell you is that I have not seen a shark very close to me I have seen them out there but they don't get close to me
Rain and No Coffee while Repair? No Fun capt..Lol..that time we used the Sound and heat proof paint first as isolate..then put the new one khaki colour material as in cat use..easier to clean..
Sounds great! idea cap, but the Coffee sounds better, is 11;00pm here , i can drink any coffee till tomorrow morning, have a great night cap, and next week you will see the results😁👍
I keep a bucket of Damp-Rid in the center console where the head is. It keeps mold from growing. You can get it at Home Depot. I switch it out every two months. People have been using Damp-Rid in their cabins for years. Even after you finish the remodel, you still might consider keeping one maybe two buckets in the cabin because mold grows even in places you can't see.
eso le pasaba al otro bote que yo tenia se llenava de moho eso es la alfombra barata que le ponen este hydrasport es 2003 y no coje moho parece que los materiales son de mejor calidad
I never could understand why Parker still carpet they boats. It was easy decision for me between Parker or Stiger craft. I chose Stieger Craft no carpet and no step down in to a cabin.
Yes that is a great benefit from Stieger , I guess to reduce the car the carpet is the best way to go it also reduces labor at the end is all about how much money can they save and make money for their company
don't think so cap, it happens wen im not using the boat and ac is not running so there is no way the ac is causing that, im a refrigeration mechanic that i know cap
@@nickburkhardt315 I encourage you to watch the whole video of the installation of the air conditioner so you can see how it really works you going to be amazed captain
