The Lambertini 1200 engine is an ingenious design. The cylinder angle of 87 degrees saves 30 millimeters in length compared to 90 degrees (just narrow enough that no balancer shafts are needed). Due to the small stroke (large bore), it also has a small overall height (including a low center of gravity). Cylinder and crankcase are cast in one piece (very good rigidity for supporting the frame). The crankshaft and gearbox are inserted into the one-piece engine block via the left side cover (tight fitting, narrow engine, deep installation possible). You can even replace the piston without removing the engine. The "old" models were very fat and unfortunately drank like a hole. It doesn't surprise me that the future engine had to lose 15 hp (legal regulations or standards). The timing of the market launch will mainly depend on when the engine can be tuned to be so lean. The former drunkard would then have to have more civilized drinking habits. Hopefully many dealers will offer the new Bellas and hopefully they will find enough buyers. Otherwise the brand and the technically unique, stunning beauties will unfortunately disappear again...
The 1200 config makes a WHOLE lot of sense. In either bike, 125bhp is plenty for just about any street riding, but tuned for mid-range punch is where it's at for sporting rides and touring. Very smart. It's really great to see the inane horsepower wars being tempered with some real-world rationality. Looking forward to more MM dealers in the US. Would love to see how these go and if they are worthy of consideration against some really good competition. They really look great.
I like the look of this a lot. There's something I've always found appealing about Morini bikes, and the older Milano from a few years back is one of my favourites. If i was in the market for a large capacity bike this would be on the list
Rob, surely one for Tim who reviewed the last Milano on RR, he commented the twin was very lively and over 120hp in real life, so interesting what he thinks to this version. A lovely machine. Interestingly I almost bought the last Milano but had such a bad impression from local MM dealer I bought a 5Four CB1100RS instead, *no regrets
Dear MotoBob I liked your EICMA Exhibition 2023 video on upcoming motorcycles.I liked Morning v2 Milano motorcycle because of its beautiful stylish trendy looking motorcycle 🎉
This is not an updated version of an existing model since the earlier Milano 1200 stopped being produced in 2020. This is however a very welcome return of what is in my opinion the best looking retro on the market with some changes. Whether those changes represent an improvement is a matter of opinion. What is not a matter of opinion is describing the swingarm as unsprung mass. Only half the swingarm could be considered unsprung but a weight saving is still a good thing. The previous incarnation was the last all Italian morini to be produced so I would be curious to know where this one is being built.
Beautiful motorcycle No Doubt but its too heavy for my liking, a 700 or 800cc would also be more appealing for me but it's nice to see some really cool retro and modern styling with the right blend, keep going MotoMorini.
Or the old moto morini corsaro something… or monster 1200s… Love to see that range come back as i love my 937 monster and loved the v100. (Btw i wish MG did a griso 2.0 with v100 base! Such a beauty…)
Lovely looking bike and a nice colour scheme too. Some of it looks a little like the old Guzzi Griso. Some of the welding on the frame looks bad though. Not a good sign. Is this made in China? If so I would be a little wary especially looking at some of that welding.
I don't really know Moto Marini, is this a heritage Italian brand that's now made in China? Do they sell them in the UK, or have any dealer partnerships?
Some negative comments here. I would not pay 15k for this bike too... but at least it has a different engine configuration than the ubiquitous twin inline.
Moto Morinis are made in Italy using Chinese money. They're not like Benelli. In the same way as Volvo in the car world, they're still Swedish, but money for development, etc, comes from Geely.
An 87 degree v-twin? Are they trying to out V Ducati? In this day and age, it's flat out Ridiculous for any company to build a wide angle V-Twin - it looks cool in the frame, but results in too many compromises in packaging the bike. Result? too long and too heavy... Twins need to be side by side - why have 2 sets of valves and drivetrain and 2 cylinder heads... stupidity in design for a visual aesthetic that will decrease the ability of the bike? No thanks....
It's pretty obvious that this bike isn't about efficiency. It's about character and style. There's plenty of japanese bikes on the "reasonable twin" market. This doesn't look less practical than BMW's boxer engine.
What ducati? This is their own engine. They have it for decades. They just got funding from the chinese parent company to make it euro 5 compliant. Just read a wikipedia or something.
