I went to that shop to get soda, supplies, or pizza over 100 times and never realized there was any connection to THIS Finnegan until after the episode aired and my family had sold our cabin in the area. Seeing the kind of road that store is on, it's NO WONDER he got so into driving, its a twisty road perfectly suited for gripped up muscle cars/trucks

Ok Mike, a little history for you. Muntz tape decks hit the aftermarket in the early 60's in SoCal. They were 4 track and the kids loved them. The OEMs seeing a demand started installing tape decks from the factory in the latter part of the 60's and those were 8 track. With the OEMs using 8 track that rang the death knell of 4 track and the 8 track ruled until cassettes came along. Yes, FM existed in the 60's but the vast majority of radio stations were low power local stations and AM was cheaper and worked fine over, short range, local broadcasts. It wasn't until national advertising became a thing that longer range FM broadcasting took over and killed the majority of small local radio stations. Side note; you may have noticed that early songs were very short. Two to three minutes at the most. That was because local radio stations had to depend on local advertisers. They couldn't afford big buck advertising costs so the station had to have a ton of them to pay the bills. That meant lots of ads per hour and a need for short songs.

I'm not familiar with drag racing rules, however that cage bar in the foot box can be made removable. In circle track chassis sometimes we have cage/chassis bars that need to be structural as well as removed. They are usually made with solid round bar milled the same OD as your tube cut in half lengthwise then one side is threaded and the other has sunken holes for allen head grade 9 bolts. This way your pipe could have "mounts" welded on the frame for each end of that bar, bar is then removable but strong, therefore body can come off later given you might need an access panel on your firewall. Car is going to look badass man, cheers!

FM was in cars in the mid 50's. My buddy had a 57 Mercedes with an FM radio in it. You had to wait for the tubes to warm up before it worked. 8 tracks came out in 64 and cassettes came out in 67. I actually have a record player for a car. It's a Montomery Ward and it is 6 volt.

HEY MIKE! Those "squished 3.5" pipe tips" will be extremely restrictive. When you squish a circle like that, the "area" of the opening is reduced drastically. Squished to a 1" tall outlet (as measured inside the outlet), it will flow WORSE than a 2.5" straight pipe. A 3.5" straight pipe flow AREA is 9.62 square inches. You would need to start with a 5" round pipe to be equivalent flow to the 3.5" straight pipe, and only if the rounded-flat opening is at least 1.5" tall... that makes it 10.0 square inches area. A 4" squished pipe could get close, if it were flattened to no less than 2" tall (inside height). That would result in 9.42 square inches area, just slightly worse than the 3.5" round pipe. If you think about it, and take the "squish" to its extreme... if it is flattened to a 1/16" tall opening, it will flow next to nothing... like a 1" diameter pipe.
