It's a smaller Micro V2 with a worse lens. So the nano is the second best camera. At least for 4:3. The cropped 16:9 mode looks really soft and lower resolution

@@Chris-xe5ts yeah, I noticed that too; it almost seems out-of-focus or there is simply a lack of pixels/resolution and it's not true HD? Holding off for now; as this is only marginally better than the best analogue IMO. Unless something in the RU-vid algorithm is messing up what Nick is really seeing?

Anyone else notice the (somewhat uncomfortable) fisheye distortion when Nick is flying in 4:3, especially in the house? I certainly noticed this on my quads: after first flying the HDZero Nano v1 with its 16:9 aspect ratio, I went to the 4:3 HDZero v2 Micro and it looked almost like a native 16:9 image was being scaled to 4:3. This in fact must be the case since the VRX outputs a 1080p image via HDMI regardless of what setting the camera has. Scaling introduces distortions in the perspective: objects look taller (horizontal squished), and near the edge of the screen you get that fisheye distortion making objects look like they're leaning when you roll left or right. The image quality is great but I find the distortion a bit nauseating and a joy kill after looking forward to the wider vertical FOV of 4:3 camera and getting this. 😞

I do worry about the length from time to time. With a camera such as this I didn't think leaving a test out would serve the community well. I don't see the camera a just a micro camera. I think 5" racers will want it as well, at 1.5grams that is a pretty significant weight loss over the other hdzero cameras. I appreciate you enjoying the videos and that you find them enjoyable to watch. We don't have to be old to enjoy what some might feel are older folk moments, just enjoying the time for what it is.

I was all in for DJI V3 goggles when they come out but HDZERO is really coming along! I will wait for both the New DJI and HDZERO goggles to come out and then decide. Starting to think HDZERO might win this race considering how light the setups are getting for Whoops. Love it ❤️

There are rumors of a smaller dji camera and vtx but I don’t think there has been even leaked images. They will be hard pressed to get that system under 8grams

Im in doubt myself, after buying a pile of goggles oled an all i have spend a fortune trying to make hdz anywhere near dji quality but it just dont come close. Im forcing myself for racing but if v3 is race compatible bye bye hdz

Oh lol i hope not im in the uk so sub250 is my daily. Larger stuff i need to jump in the car for. Hdz i need to start racing and im hoping that new hdz 1s and nano cam will make a nice 75mm, not sure if its too heavy for a good 65mm but we shall see

Nice video Nick. I have to say when you did the switch to wide screen for some reason it looked much better. It seemed like the light didn’t look as blurry and washed out. I’m referring to the light that was coming in your windows & the lights in your house. It looked much better all around.

I so need this! I can't wait for them to be in stock. This what it will get me off analog for good. 2 years ago my Mobula 6 with external receiver and the best camera I could fit was 24 grams, and flew totally fine. I suspect a 24 gram 65mm whoop with HDzero is totally possible with modern parts.

i run those tiny O.R.T antenna on all my small hdzero builds and even a few analog as well, i love those things they work amazingly well and have almost no weight.

Amazing you covered it all🥳 did you take note of the flight time difference switching from the analog? Of course it’s going to be a tiny bit heavier but also I wondered about the extra amp draw from the HD system being on a 1s battery

I was flying pretty slow and trying to be smooth. Most of my flights were on 550mah cam in around 4:25 inside. I think outside it was a touch shorter maybe 20 less seconds

Excellent video, thanks! The only issue I've had with Welder glue in the past with planes is that it breaks down in UV light. I went to Foam-Tac which holds up better in the sun over time. I'm excited to be on the HDZero train!

That is something I hadn’t experienced yet. Likely as my welder application is inside a canopy or between the carbon plates of the quad

@@NickBurnsFPV For that application you're probably alright. I do like the applicator and consistency of it. Worst case you'll have to scrape off the crusty remains and re-apply it down the road, if the quad even lasts that long. But it's such a small amount it wouldn't be a big deal. I used it to glue together foam RC Planes and did live hinges with it, which made it a bigger deal.

i think this is the best looking hd zero i’ve seen. Very good vtx. The lens doesn’t keep contrast well with light changes but still looks great. It also looks stretched a bit too tall and towards the middle top. Like there is some distortion correction

I suspect those cutaways around the u.FL connector on the VTX are so you can wrap it in heat shrink (probably works better when the antenna is facing away from the board). I saw a similar thing on the LDARC ET125 4S VTX where the connector was on a tab and they double-wrapped it in clear heat shrink tubing. That thing wasn't going anywhere after that.

This is amazing not only because it takes 1s, not because the camera is 2g less than what was easy to do before... Mainly because it is finally a 4:3 nano camera for HD Zero! Finally! I was really trying to get used to 16:9... tried... The only pitty is, that it us announced for approximately 3 weeks and even not available for preorder.

Hi Nick, watched this vid 3 times and noticed very few snows and even fewer breakups. Did you have your wifi turned off during flights or did you just set the channel on R8? When I flew my HDZero quad in a business park parking lot, I got more snow than you did, and even more when a neighboring pilot flew his DJI FPV quad a few yards away.

Best looking HDZero so far. Would think that this would be a good board for an 85mm 2s. The extra analog vtx they usually have and larger camera on those will offset the weight of the digital system.

The 16:9 is less sharp because it's a cropped version of the 4:3 which is stretched to a large display area on your screen (in contrast to your goggles which has a larger 4:3 than 16:9 image)

So is the 4:3 setting just a horizontally scaled down version of the 16:9 instead of being cropped, or did that happen in editing? For example, look at a frame when you're entering the living room with the two lamps and the television on the wall and compare side-by-side the 4:3 and 16:9 and you can easily tell that the 4:3 is horizontally scaled down and everything appears narrower and taller than it should be.

The camera doesn’t use the full sensor at 4:3.

@@NickBurnsFPV It doesn't appear that it's cropped on the sides though, it looks like it's using the full 16:9 sensor but then scaling the image horizontally to squeeze it down to 4:3. Look at the TV on your wall at 7:05. It looks like an old school 4:3 TV but when you are using 16:9 mode at 10:00 it looks like an HD 16:9 TV.

For hdo2, use hd960. The dvr is always 16x9 stretched in org mode, but is 4:3 in goggles

m2, the length I am not sure of, depends on the canopy used and its thickness, but 3mm is a good starting point.

How much is the weight saving compared to the old whoop board with old nano camera?

The new whoop board is slightly heavier unfortunately. I think the additional weight comes from a thicker pcb which should help durability. Off the top of my head I think the difference is about a half gram

HD zero could make an algorithm to blend the lost pixels with the adjacent pixels. . I think that would make the breakup less noticeable.

So many VTX and Cameras for HDZero being released. That's all great for those who has the Fatshark Receiver Module or Digital Scout Goggles. But these companies need to start developing and marketing more options for Receivers for all the newcomers and people that want to jump into the HDZero arena. Fatshark Shark Byte modules are no longer available :(

Your statement doesn't make sense. Fat Shark has nothing to do with Divimath anymore, so of course there aren't gonna be anymore fatshark VRX. HDZ has one out. What marketing are you talking about?

They should also focus on developing and releasing new receiver modules; not just cameras and VTX. My message was not directed to specific company.

I suspect the new vrx could be available for purchase before this new camera and vtx. Manufacturing is really a struggle right now. I think Shanghai has been locked down for 4weeks now and was locked down for 2weeks before that. It’s hard right now

If the batteries sag below 2.8volts I would say the batteries are the problem. Likely poor quality batteries or their health is poor

Hey Nick some questions I regret asking later when I figure it out lol But I am a year and eight months in FPV what is this HD zero stuff what goggles do I need to use it?

for goggles we need hdmi in, the dji goggles don't support hdmi in, but traditional fpv goggles do for the most part, at least those released in the last two years. We also need the vrx, which mounts to the goggles. The vrx is really hard to get right now, but a new one is coming and I think it will be very soon. Then on the quad side we need the hdzero vtx (there are several), and a camera that is also for hdzero.

We can turn off or use a radio switch to turn off the osd. The pool does have a cover, just hasn’t made it into a video yet

Sounds about right for California from what I hear. Midwest real estate is very inexpensive by comparison, and taxes are lower. I lived in Denver in 99, paid about that for an apartment as well.

Someone skipped over the part about the included antenna (what brought me here). Not your fault, but how do I know what receiving antenna to use with NO literature regarding the antenna included with the kit? I have the HDzero mobula7 (my first quad). I look into antennas while I wait for HDZero to make some goggles so that I can properly fly this thing. It _is_ great that everyone is mostly making advanced videos regarding the FPV topic. However, it's too bad the basics are always glossed over in all if the product literature (like how fast to charge this battery (obviously 1C). It's hard to know where to go, and what to begin with. It's coming together. I am an advanced Linux user and all as I get is video recommendations regarding Linux for beginners, like if all Linux users are beginners. So I appreciate the expectations coming into this.

Not sure I understand. You want to know what the included antenna is called? If so, its a linear antenna, they can also be called whip, or even rubber ducky (last two are more of a joke) we most often use them on small quads especially the whoop types as they are generally lighter. We can find all sorts of different linear antennas, some are thicker than others, some thinner. I personally like the ORT linear antennas. Super light and the reception seems as good as most if not all antennas I have tried with hdzero.

Careful! That JHEMCU board is a 5A ESC but the original board is a 12A. It's a shame you killed the X12 because I am very curious to find out what the weight does to the performance of the Mob 7 ELRS. I'm going to be doing this build basically as soon as they come out in stock.

@@mopatop3921 At 5 amp we do still have to worry about scenarios where the motors/props are trying to spin but can't. Things like turtle mode especially, I pretty much don't use turtle mode outside on 5amp.

Heated pools are a must. I live in Cincinnati and if you want to get your money's worth out of it, must be heated.

Very very little. Where I sit in the house is also important, I found sitting at the table puts me at the center of the house "flow" and the result is great reception. If I move to the couch in the living room its not as good and that is like a 15ft move.

For getting a clear image without breakup, or very little breakup? I would go with goggles, well the receiver in the goggles. The antennas also make a difference as well.

@@NickBurnsFPV - Yes, I got entry level goggles and there's lots of breakup and static even at a short distance no matter what channel I operate on. I can only afford new goggles or a new drone. Not both.

@@shortclipsvictoria789 The cost to get better reception is pretty large, the receiving module I use is the rapidfire which costs about $150. And the goggles that module goes in are also expensive. Goggles like the fatshark hdo2 or skyzone 04, these are both the top of the line and around the $500 price point.

Can someone please help!!! I got the whoop lite bundle and I can not open the camera setting using stick control. I've updated the vtx and vrx tried using SA, nothing. Tried without SA soldered on fpr vtx menu, nothing at all. The stick movements do nothing for "Osd" menus, ie. I have the betaflight OSD working but I can't open any menus. I just want to change the camera menu cause the camera video turns black and white when exposed to bright lights. Please help me lol. I've been trying for a week now

There really isn't a trick to getting the settings open. First thing would be to ensure you have OSD working, that indicates the wiring is appropriate. Also check the radio stick movements in betaflight, ensure they are going from 1000-2000 or very very close to that. If not the sticks need adjusted via radio model settings or via betaflight with the range commands. This should help oscarliang.com/adjust-tx-channel-mid-end-point/
