UPDATE: MOVIE COMING NOVEMBER 2026! CORRECTION: The book is not ONE year and TEN months away like I said in the video. It's only NINE months from now. Sorry about that.
I have to say, I’m so glad that Suzanne is being a novelist and writing her books the way she wants to write them and then allowing them to be adapted as opposed to another author who tried to shortcut it and write the screenplay herself…
we’re also gonna finally see katniss’ mother as a young girl because she was maysilee’s friend. i wish they’d introduced and included the Undersee family in the original film series, especially Madge, considering that it was Madge who gave Katniss the mockingjay pin.
I haven’t even finished the hunger games I started 4 days ago I’m already on the 3rd book I’m in book binge mode can’t wait to read this though sadly I don’t think I will ever get to watch the movie of the last book unless I use some kind of sketchy site on my iPad it’s worked with some other movies but I haven’t tried something this popular yet
I think this is a great time for Suzanne to create Haymitch’s games after the popularity of BOSBAS reduced I feel like no one expected what people since the last book wanted. And showing Haymitch’s perspective, thinking, strategies and tactics which made him the person he was.
A sequel probably wouldn’t give you that. Clearly Tigris was cool with Snow for decades after the prequel cos she was a stylist that Katniss remembered seeing on TV
I doubt Disney would ever want to buy Hunger Games. It’s not Marvel or Star Wars where they can have action movies and still have it be family friendly. There’s no way they can do it in that similar vein or do what they did with Hunchback of Notre Dame, there’s a reason why that movie’s live action remake is taking forever to go into fruition. Even with franchises like Avatar and Deadpool it is already pushing it. The only reason why those still work is Deadpool being Marvel and Avatar is just Pocahontas in space. But I doubt they would cut down on what made the movies work and try to get them to fit under the brand. For Avatar having it in the theme parks and still working with James Cameron for the sequels, for Deadpool having him in the MCU is the most it can do for these franchises. Even then, for Deadpool they are so going to make him pg13 if they add in the upcoming Avengers movies, to not ruin it the toy sales and make the movie aimed at adults. But I don’t see how the Hunger Games could have the same luxury unless they either somehow make it kid friendly or are willing to throw their reputation out the window or they will just have it on the back burner and never do anything with it outside of merchandise or whatever Lionsgate is doing when they are not making movies.
Snow prostituted him... his book would be nice for readers but critics would give a higher rating then the other movies get (like an R) for the sex scenes.
Honestly after Haymitch, Finnick's games is the one I'd wanna see. Although I think it'd be cool if she released a book that goes over multiple hunger games and their arenas, like a fact book or something.
I was in the elevator riding down when I saw your video. The way I SCREAMEDDDD so hard! 🙌🏽 I’m so fu*king hyped that we get to read another book and possibly see another film into this universe that has meant so much to me since primary school. 🕺🏽
@@Ismail-kv3ex Yea but it's perfect actually, because doing the math and realising it'll only be a few months for the book instead of the announced two years, was the most amazing mental rollercoaster 😂
We've all been making our own version of Haymitch's games in our heads. I love that the 5 book arc so far are the revolutionaries figures from 12. We know that they were all severely punished. Lucy only suffered from Snow's obsession for a bit, same with Katniss, but Haymitch was punished by snow for at least 25+ years. I love that Suzanne wants to show us why...
when I was watching this video, I was thinking of the song “Can’t catch me now” by Olivia Rodrigo and how her last lyric in the song was, “and you thought that this was the end “ like how we all thought that the hunger games franchises is over but now we are surprised that we are getting a new book now.
i never clicked faster on a notification - i just gasped in shock when i read the title. can't wait to bring the news to my friends who are also diehard hunger games fans!
i’m literally so so excited. i’ve always wanted to read more about haymitch’s games/the second quarter quell. also, i feel like this will also introduce us to the idea of the quarter quell and first quarter quell. I’M SO EXCITED
The "real or not real" could be a really interesting concept to explore in Haymitch's arena. The way everything is discribed as being almost idylic and you might not realise it kills you until it is too late. I'm also curious about the mentor situation with Haymitch, Maysilee and their fellow tributes. As far as we know Lucy Grey is the only previous District 12 victor. How would the Capitol handle that? And I'm especially looking forward to seeing Haymitch and Maysilee's dynamic. They trusted each other, Katniss pretty explicitly draws paralells between them and our starcrossed lovers, he runs for her after their alliance is broken, he stayed with her as she died. He clearly cared. Could she be his girl the Capitol killed (just not in the way Katniss assumes)? That would be pretty interesting to explore with the Seam and Merchant section dynamic - a way that could be used to explore propaganda within the districts. (Katniss and Peeta don't really count on that front since they barely interacted before their games and their time in the arena permanently shaped their dynamic.) From the way Katniss' parents couldn't live in the merchant section after their marriage or Peeta's mother chases off a starfing Katniss from the trash cans, there seems to be some kind of prejudice going on. God the possibilities are endless 😍
I can’t wait! I finished The Hunger Games series just a month ago and was hoping i could join in on the fun of waiting for a new book so it’s so exciting to have a new book to look forward to in 10 months time!
Bring it on! The 50th is one that I've always been interested in reading more about. Looking forward to another film adaptation as well! They've at least done a decent service to the Hunger Games series compared to the Divergent series.
First thing I noticed your hair looks really great Second I love the idea of seeing/reading Haymitch's Hungergames as I am currently reading the second book too
I’m so happy about this book!! Hoping she’ll write more about the stories!! I would also love in the future to see the first quarter quill and Annie’s games
I CANNOT wait for this book! I would love an ongoing series of other characters’ games. Now we need Mags, Finnick, Joanna, and…. the rest of the victors who were in the 3rd quarter quell 😂
I can't waaaaaait! I was hoping she'd write another book and I really hope about Haymitch👏 I'd love to see a movie about it afterward like they did with Snow
She finally made the right choice and listened to her fans, all of which have been asking for Haymich’s Hunger Games. There’s even a fanmade short film about it.
I swear I found out abt the book today and I swear I predicted it being abt haymitch and I’m sure a lot of fans did too! Ty movie flame for being such an amazing content creator and someone who finally loves these stories as much as I do! I’m forever greatful
Well if they are thinking about casting for the film adaption then it surely has to be Keegan Allen for Haymitch due to his eerie resemblance to Woody Harrelson
I’m excited because this story takes place in one of the most interesting lore areas Hamish will be a young man snow won’t be president yet and still crawling up later of power so he could be a head game maker just a real interesting time to there’s so many way she can go with the story
I could see this not as the 50th Hunger games, they've already been mentioned, but the 51st Hunger Games would be so much more interesting to see. To see Haymitch's first game after his victory, and we'll see a Hunger Games in which District 12 is not the winning District.
I'm so excited for it and it's given me motivation to finish reading 'Ballad Of Songbirds and Snakes' so that I can read the new book when it comes out. Me and my sister have been talking about plot ideas that might be coming and I guess we will have to wait and see if they're true.
I’m stoked. This hunger games has always interested me and I kept saying after ballad that the only other thing worth focusing on WOULD BE haymitchs games. I loved the original series and I really liked the ballad movie (the book is okay…just kinda slow) and I think that this topic will have a lot to run with in the terms of story line
So happy to finally get more of Haymitch’s games! He’s always been my favorite character in the series and I was so bummed they didn’t show his games in the movie like they did in the book.
I actually think that the book might be about Maysilee. Maybe from her and Haymitch’s perspective. I also really want to see from Finnick and Annie’s perspective.
I’m so excited!!! Any quarter quell shows interesting stories and it would be great to see haymitch’s game with more detail. But I wonder if it will be his perspective because collins was talking a lot about government and stuff so it is probably gonna focus on the rise of the capital and politics, either way I hope it’s a good book and not a cash grab 😅
Overall I am quite excited what Suzanne Collins does with this new book, because I love this franchise with all my heart. On the other hand I am also quite scared that this will be more of a cashgrab especially because the movie was announced so shortly after... I am not sure what to think about it but we will see.
I am so excited since she is doing more I hope she opens up to mags since that would have been the hunger games after Lucy grey and when they started making things “better”. Also, I would love more on the tribute in general. Maybe even a career and see how they see things.
I thought Suzanne would focus on the 25th hunger games next and the origin of quarter quells. Perhaps voting for tributes was meant to create divisions in the districts that were unifying and preparing for rebellion. But I’m very very happy with this too!!!
Haymitch is my favorite character in the franchise and I have been hoping for a long time that Collins would write a prequel about his story. It would be an odd choice if it’s not about him. Only saying that, because it hasn’t actually been confirmed that he is the focus point. But I really hope it will be him! ❤
The main narrative on this new hunger games book better be Haymitch because he’s the one who won the 50th hunger games or the second quarter quell. I would like to follow that victor tribute around like they did with Katniss for the 74th and the 75th the third-quarter quell hunger games. We never got to see the 50th Second Quarter Quell Hunger Games + Haymitch’s backstory information in the movies so they might as well show it to us now on the big screen. 😭 and plus an entire page in catching fire was dedicated to reading all about the 50th hunger games or the second quarter quell (from Katniss’ perspective) when she and Peeta were re watching it’s highlights. And boy, did we get a lot of information about Haymitch and his backstory. However, in the catching fire movie, The 50th second quarter quell hunger games are omitted. Probably because it must’ve been too violent. And Haymitch and Katniss used the force field to outsmart the game makers and make the capitol look foolish. This would obviously be a spoiler for the near the end of the catching fire movie. For Haymitch, he made the district 1 girl get killed by her own axe after she unexpectedly threw it in the force field when she was trying to kill Haymitch making the axe bounce backwards and it hit her and killed her. For Katniss, she tied Beetee’s wire to one of her arrows and shot it up at the force field, blowing it out and destroying the arena.
Snow will return to continue his revenge on the districts. I am hoping that in this series the Hanging Tree will be discussed further on how it was passed through generations
When I say “I can’t wait,” not only am i excited but i am physically incapable of waiting nearly two years for another book to come out from one of my favorite series 😭
I think it would be cool if the book followed Plutarch Heavensbee and how he learns about propaganda and his inner dialogue about the atrocities of the Capitol.
I’m excited to hear more about Haymitchs games… but we already got some decent info about it from the original series. I’d prefer to get a book about Finnicks games as we don’t have much information on his games
