BTW I forgot to tell you, I always run Murray intake clamps on charge tubes. Here are the part numbers i got. I got one of these: 1-5/8" to 2-3/8" Murray Constant Tension Turbo Seal Hose Clamp TSS28S30EP And 3 of these: 1-13/16" to 2-5/8" Murray Constant Tension Turbo Seal Hose Clamp

Great video Vince! Your production skills are superb of course. Do you know if the GoPro speedo is accurate? I'm curious and normally use the Garmin, as the Doo gauges are way off. In optimal lake running conditions, my Mach consistently ran 178-181 on GPS with only just clutching work, so I'm really scratching my head about whether or not the upgrades from any of these aftermarket companies are really worth it. This is why I never ended up doing them and stuck to just clutching and well, as you know ultimately ended up dumping my Mach Z. I found the same issues with those BRP belts just getting heat soaked, so I'm also curious what belt you are running? We had great luck with Ultimax on that Mach once you get clutching dialed in. All in all, love the video buddy but still not sold on the Mach and the mods just yet but would love to try one that's fully done. Maybe once you get your 250HP kit :-) Keep up the great work. Thanks for the kind words Mike, much appreciated. I’ve never compared the GPS data on the GoPro with anything else but I would guess it’s sufficiently accurate for what I’m using it for. I think it’s a mistake to only look at top speeds when debating if the Hurricane upgrades are “worth it”. Top speed runs are fun every once in a while but that’s not typically what I’m doing with this sled. The other 90% of the time is on the trails and THAT is where this package really shines in my opinion. Unfortunately that is a little harder to quantify in a video so we tend to rely on the top speed data to help prove things. Bottom line is the best way to know if it’s worth it would be to try it. “Worth” is very subjective as well. Looks like I’m going to be joining Jesse on a ride soon and I’ll be sure to let him have some seat time and hopefully I can hook up with the other half of @sledaddicz soon 😊 Ultimax belts is what I’m running and what Dave recommended 👍🏼

Hey Mike, Agree on the ole reliable Garmin when i want my most accurate TOP SPEED MPH, and my stalker radar gun is even more accurate since it sends a constant signal to the object, vs a GPS which take a longer period of time to get a signal from the sky. But in a longer haul top speed run we find them both to be within .5 MPH of each other. Definitely not good to try to compare any one day's speeds to another day's IMO. That never seems to be accurate, even when i go out in similar conditions on same sled it can widely vary in top speed. With these 900r's I find the clutching RPM is by far the most important number to be sure you are hitting. I have seen 10mph differences between 7800 and 7900. If anyone is revving below 7900 solid on very top end, you will be slower on these 900r's. With that being said, Dave may very well have "tuned" his ECU for a MORE ACCURATE RPM number on the gauge, and have heard he has also tuned the MPH number top be closer to correct, so those would be first questions for Dave for sure. I have gone back to ole reliable PL/PL QRS spring which i have loved since 2015 on my 12004tec, as I'm a Muskoka corner to corner guy and this spring brings that type of riding to life. It's a 231/303 rate, so has the same finish rate as stock Green, but a higher start rate which holds the RPMs up down low, and will give a slight overshift on the hit, which IMO is how I like this sled to run. As for the pDrive i have gone back to stock spring(170/300) and stock spring cup(lots of this i have videos on my channel) since my testing shows stock spring cup does not impede top speed(full shift out).... however I ditched the 897 Mach ramps with the idle notch for Launch control as they just never would work well with my stock engine. Been running Dalton adj weights for years in all my sleds, and the 901t has worked well for me with the stock Mach Z. For my setup running the 75g 901t ramps, with tip OPEN and heel loaded with the largest 4.7g slug(79.7g total weight) is the sweet spot when using stock 571 belt along with stock helix and PL/PL as mentioned. For amazing corner to corner and little lake running, i will back out the slug 5mm out the heel, and this will overshift even more when running the tightest trails making it a corner to corner animal. For bigger trails I keep the slug bottomed to keep top rpms in check. I spent all last winter working with the Ultimax, and have loved them for years. But at end of last season I blew one bad with only 1200 miles, taking out pan(see my channel for video) and since It was always a struggle getting rpms correct with the 821 Ultimax(since it revs 200 LOWER then stock belt) I decided to try a stock belt this year, since my bud beat his 900r hard all season with 2800 miles on his stock belt and never skipped a beat. So I believe longevity is best with stock 571, While consistency of rpm is best with Ultimax. 571 is dirtier then Ultimax as well. Ultimax may be a faster top-end belt in the end, due to least slippage and shorter length then stock belt and even shorter then Gboost, but in the end I think stock belt is a real tough muther and hoping it lasts. BTW add a PEFI belly guard to have peace of mind guys(also in that same video). In the end I think far too much talk has been placed on top speed and tune/ECU HP numbers. This is why i have pulled away from DT forums(which i used to love). I think boost PSI numbers are a better way to discuss one tunes power to the next, I realize Dyno numbers are a testing tool, and Daves Dyno has served him well. However when novices do not understand how each dyno is different from the next, and each guy sets his up in his own manner, the discussion gets far too convoluted on forums and then all the negative comments come out. I don't blame Dave or any other tuner from backing away from forums. Bottom line is these Doos, ever since rMotion, have been a slow chassie and skids, but we got the best ride in the business BY FAR. My Winder was a rocket top speed, but rode like a dump truck in the big junk around here. Mach Z will never make a ton more top speed in trail form, even if you add 35HP. Going from 117GPS to 122GPS on ICE perfect day would be about best to expect. Now drop that chassie down, change out drivers for angle of attack and all the sudden you see big speeds. Always a compromise somewhere as you guys know. This is why i mentioned I'd like to see Dave's ECU vs stock Mach more in a side by side roll-on, this would be a better way to quantify the difference in stock vs standalone ECU. Hopefully soon I will get up there and we can try it. I think mine runs as good as any stocker will having the clutching setup, and Im certain Dave's ECU tune along with the supporting bolts on's will walk very hard on my stocker, as it should. Maybe top ends won't be hugely different but that is to be expected. Is that kind of difference worth the cash? Well that is up to the buyer. I think for some it's worth every penny, while others will say it's not. We used to get tunes for $450USD or so for Winders, but with the BRP 900r, Doo went to the high encryption "super car" ECU which is a marvel in itself, and while it does a great job protecting our stock engines, it wont allow much once it sees anything it doesn't like, IE: AIT is one of many I'm sure. So Dave along with other perf outfits are taking the Standalone ECU approach which is never gonna be nearly as cheap as a simple flash. Guys should be happy we got these aftermarket outfits giving us these choices, and not bickering about them IMO. After my Hydro went out all last night, i guess I really needed to type! HaHa. Did you get your throttle position calibrated? I had a kink in my thumb warmer wire. It was holding the throttle open just a little bit. The factory fix was to re calibrate the tps. I was only getting 88% throttle. Fixed that kink and re adjusted the cable. Reflashed with BUDS 100% throttle now. Went from a consistent 106 ish mph. To a consistent 115mph. No other changes. To the sled whatsoever. I now have a full 2.5" exhaust and charge tubes. Hurricane intercooler I still need to install. Going to see if I can break into the 120s

@berttracy90, yes I had it checked at the dealer and they told me it didn't need calibration but I have heard from others like you where it did make a big difference. Gonna have more Hurricane goodies coming this season...stay tuned!

If you had clutched the stock sled to hit 8100/8200 before testing, I think the speed differences between stock and Hurricane would have been negligible. Not worth 5 or 6000.00 in my book. Enjoyed the video and thanks for posting. Being sponsored can kind of harm credibility sometimes, something you may want to consider.

@Baydog, I think you may have missed the point of the video. The point was to show a before and after of JUST the intercooler. That's the only thing that was changed between the runs. The lower RPM's during the first passes seems to be due to the higher intake temps. The intercooler is around $1600 CAD not 5 or $6K. I'm guessing you're making reference to the ECU + tune but that was installed last season on this sled and wasn't really part of this video. I'm sorry you feel this somehow affects my credibility but as I mentioned in the video, I paid full price for the ECU, clutching, gearing and muffler last season because I believed in the product. Also, I'm not trying to sell anybody here. Just trying to make entertaining and informative sledding videos.

I don’t think 200ish rpm make much difference on a 4 stroke sled like it would in a 2 stroke. The hp difference at the crank between the two rpm’s is probably on a few. Also I have basically the same set up on my Mach and you could have the best clutching in the world and still wouldn’t come close with a stocker.

I have found that 8100 rpms on the gauge is where i always see my best top speeds. I have been playing with my clutching since day one last season on my Mach Z. DOO gauges have been notorious for showing 200rpm higher than actual rpm at crank. Seeing your RPMS revving too low IMO on first test, then revving in the sweet spot second test will IMO make more speed. I'm assuming you only changed the IC hardware and ran exact same tune in Dave's ECU after IC install. As you mentioned, keeping those AIT's down goes a long way to making more power. Great to see you partner up with Hurricane... Dave is a wealth of knowledge and has speed coursing through his veins. Loved his tune on my Winder when i had it, certainly was a lake monster. I have been holding off on a tune/ECU for my Mach Z but Dave's will be one of the first I consider since his stuff was amazing on my Winder. I'm hoping to get more speed run content on my channel as soon as my lake gets fast again. I love getting out the Stalker and GPS on the fastest ICE days! I would love to see your setup run on some ice flat out, I'm certain you will be pulling some great numbers. What I would love to see is how much faster yours accelerates next to a stock Mach Z. I'm sure that is where Dave's ECU really shines! The Gen4 is not known for its top speed & never gonna be as good as a Winder's due to chassie and skid, but man does the Mach Z w/SS ride like a caddy! Thanks again for the kind words @rockerdan! Absolutely nothing was changed other than the intercooler between the runs other than the sled may have had less fuel in the tank during the second set of runs. Dave is most certainly a wealth of knowledge when it comes to making fast sleds. A side by side run compared to a stock Mach would be great but I need some traction improvements before doing some ice runs. Currently running the stock 1.25 with only 96 studs. What are you running for studs? And absolutely, overall this is such an amazing riding sled. Also have a brand new Gen5 Reny in the garage but all I ever want to ride is the Mach 😁

@@BeaverTailToys My one buddy has a new G5 MXZ XRS with the big 10.25 gauge and I just love that thing on our tight twisty Muskoka trails especially when it gets pounded out! It makes me feel 16 again! The Mach Z I find is more like a Caddy and well suited for the bigger wide open super highways up north. Once we hit our lakes the Mach let’s the 850 know who’s boss💪🏻. I actually like running less studs as I tend to not drag race. For top speed runs less is better having less rotating mass. Sharp studs in this case is more important then quantity. I trail ride mostly so I like the woody’s mega-bites for their longevity and less prone to bending with their square body. I only run 120 in a 2/3/2/3 pattern. I like a longer stud but not overly long and opt for a 1.45” length when running a 1.25 lug track. I like to see what my sleds will do at their very top, so longer hauls on fastest surface is when I like to get out the radar gun. But for your testing of tunes and go fast equipment you are doing it right trying to get those back to back similar condition runs. I try to do this exact same testing with all my clutching. Helps a lot living right on my lake here all winter and the neighbors all know when I’m trying a new clutch combo. Lol 😆. Hoping to get back up to your neck of the woods to ride around the Sudbury trail system in the next few weeks. We should chat more soon brother. Keep up the great work.

So just out of curiosity, was your mach performing up to par when you first got ? Was it pulling good RPMs??? Mine would spike to 7900 to 8000 but quickly drop back to 7600 and felt like it had nothing from midrange up, I got the brp updates done and now it’s a completely different machine, where I was only able to pull 106@7600 now I can pull 120@8000 , those are speedo numbers not gps or radar, using speedo as reference…

Nice to hear the BRP updates helped for you. I'd say my RPM's were not really stable either before the upgrades, kind of like what you are describing.

I don’t think it’s really that weird, allot of factors to compare there. Clutching, gearing, traction (studs), air temp, rough track etc…This test wasn’t so much about what the sled can do too speed but more about some direct A-B testing. I hit around 190 last season before the intercooler swap in better conditions.

@@BeaverTailToys I am not convinced you made any gain on the intercooler as conditions would have made the change in speed. The change to analyze would have been what the fall off would have been compared to stock. Showing us the IAT's from stock to the new cooler would show if it is worth 1600.00 I have been told that it takes about 8-10 long runs before it starts to pull timing and fuel utilizing the stock cooler.
