New Tim Ballard allegations + why people still won't change their minds 

This whole thing is weird. I was approached by someone representing OUR about 10 years ago, looking for $$$. I said no, because I had just lost my job. They tried to get money anyway, but I said no. Then throughout the years I heard more and more LDS people supporting the effort, but what I heard about OUR was not good. Then the movie came out. And then, if I was "anti-OUR", I was accused of supporting trafficking. WRONG!!! I just didn't have good vibes about the OUR organization. Now, news about this is getting worse and worse. :(

I worked over 3 decades in strip clubs across the U.S. (not SLC) and in W. Europe. There are no children in strip clubs. There are very extremely strict laws about this and the clubs are very well-regulated in most places. The clubs and dancers are, however, prey to off-duty (and sometimes on-duty) law enforcement pervs as described in the complaint. Tim sounds pretty typical. It is highly unlikely that a club would give over a private room to Tim and his "operator." They typically discourage couples and discourage women who are not dancers from coming into the clubs. If he really was allowed to use a private room at a strip club as described in the complaint, he must have paid somebody off big time. The clubs have to be careful not to have sex acts occurring on the premises and there are usually cameras shoved in every corner of the clubs, inside and outside. They do this for their own liability. If he did something to a woman in one of those private rooms--who knows?!--there might be a video somewhere. I wouldn't be surprised.

thinking about how at least 95% of the people i knew who bought into OUR during the trump presidency (while i was at SVU) were very young women. i think Ballard could have gotten away with a myriad cons, but knew that the “saving the children” ruse would be the hardest for young Mormon women to turn away from, and thus easier to exploit. he knew exactly what he was doing.

Russel Ballard, it needs to be known that Tim Ballard’s pedigree goes back to the earliest days of the Mormon Church. And that his ancestor had intimate relations with the founders, quite likely living in the same quarters with Russell Ballard’s great grandfather, Hiram Smith, Joseph’s Brother. With the LDS Church’s high regards for ancestors, it makes perfect sense that Tim Ballard would be a candidate for a messianic figure.

I am confused. I don't like the term, "sex worker," applied to those who are not. For instance, exotic dancers/strippers do not offer sex services. So, this is a misnomer. I personally dislike lap-dancing (mainly because it risks physical danger of assault), but it's still just dancing and it is done by male exotic dancers, as well, who are generally not called, "sex workers." Also, licensed massage therapists who provide massage, including couple's massages, are not sex workers. They have to pass a test to get a professional license and jump through a lot of hoops. I have friends who are licensed massage therapists who are harassed and treated abusively and sometimes talked to and about like "sex workers." But it is not fair or reasonable, or right, to call women "sex workers," who do not offer sex services. Massage therapy is no more sex than dancing is sex. It seems like there is no distinction in the description of Tim's activities in these allegations. Tim and and a lot of people discussing his activities do not seem to understand the difference between an illicit spa and a licensed therapist; or the difference between a strip club and a brothel. Maybe in the minds of Tim and his kind, there is no difference, but this is neither realistic nor accurate.

Two of Tim’s children were adopted from the Gardy Marty orphanage bust that the video of Janet and Tim came from, mr. Marty sr, also adopted children from that bust, as did one of Tim’s friends. It looks like the ‘ops’ consisted of Tim’s friends blindly looking for cartels in the bosoms of lap dancers, in tropical locales , while Tim and other groups split off for other duties. How many orphanages did Janet ‘channel" did Tim bust a lot of orphanages? Did the children of those orphanages then get adopted through Tim’s orphanages, and Tim’s wife’s adoption charity?

What I worry is that the right wing will still cover for him. Wonder if he will say he’s leaving Mormonism for some other christian cult.

Why is Ballard not going on his "missions" alone, or going with willing and informed sex workers or porn performers? The LDS leadership has always had to pay attention to politics. Sam observed that she’s never seen anyone like Tim Ballard who can rival the power that the Q15 wield in Mormonism. We are less surprised to hear accusations about him than how long it took for them to surface. Tim has self promoted himself as the paragon of virtue, American culture, and manhood. I still like Glen Beck so much more than Tim Ballard. I know I've said it before. While listening to this, I find myself asking why. Here's what I got: Back in my cult days, I listened to Glen nearly every day. I also listened to Rush Limbaugh. Both men could be subversively hilarious. I had the sense then, and still do, that they both believed the foundations of their rhetorical positions, but Glen believes it more. Rush was a lot more pragmatic. But I respect the overall integrity of Glen aligning his radically conservative beliefs with his actions. While still pushing nonsense like everyone should buy gold. Every time I have seen any footage of Tim, it has rubbed me the wrong way. Most everything out of his mouth is obvious hyperbole. Something about his body language and gestural vocabulary screamed to me that he did not actually believe his lines. It was all false sincerity and the bravura of a man in fear of actually being seen. He actually struck me as being very close to being a closeted alcoholic. Glen may be just about as wrong about just about as many things as Tim, but he at least actually believes in his causes. And let's give him credit: presented with facts, he made the hard choice and amended his beliefs about a man he considered to be a personal friend.

Why are you so passionate about being excited about celebrating mistakes or mal intent, but make no mention of of positive things like the goodness of others, or the incredible good of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the pure love and light found in the restored gospel and it's marvelous message.
