Funny thing about some of Pittsburgh's most iconic rivalries they started over controversial reasons...Steelers-Raiders the Immaculate Reception and Bruins-Penguins over a uniform color change.
Half the teams in the league have red or blue so I don’t get the color issue. Pittsburgh is the only city in North America that uses the same color scheme for all its Big Four teams (black and gold are also the colors of the city flag) and it’s not like they’ll ever give that up.
@@lucarossi8913 you're dumb af that's literally the baseball team you're thinking about...the pirates hockey team came in 1926... typical triggered bandwagon pens fan who can't even watch the video.
I would of preferred to have Jagr and the bruins take Iggy. He did join them the next season anyway. I remember Iggy unexpectedly joined the pens. I just wanna see Jagr play 1 season with us before he's done. Like Gonchar, he played 1 game this year and then hung them up
As great as that may be, Hell must freeze over for Jagr to return to Pittsburgh with a warm welcome. I know you Penguins fans constantly curse us Capitals fans over the Jagr trade for two reasons: you think we fleeced you in the trade, and how Jagr indirectly contributed to us getting Ovechkin (Jagr under-performed in DC, and when we sold most of our talent to start afresh, we inadvertently dipped our fingers in the Ovechkin sweepstakes of 2004, who was more or less destined to go to Steel City). Jagr leaving Pittsburgh back then was seen as 'good riddance', considering how he demanded a trade, and how much of a lousy teammate he was in the locker room. He had since matured, but eh, I don't see the Penguins faithful welcoming him back with open arms barring a miracle.
Ken Hamada People still wear his jersey at games and all. It's a new gen, they probably don't mind. Also he said he was cool with Mario and told the story of why Mario came back to play after retiring.
Cindy Crosby trying to convince people he’s a man by going after Chara. Chara had to be laughing because if Crosby fought Chara, Cindy would be dead lol!
Millberry lost his cool and his team followed his lead instead of staying focused and putting pops in the net Millberry made it personal and cost his team this playoff series he’s done in his entire career as a player and coach
Brother, you say that to any Bostonian or Yinzer, and you can expect them to shout at you continuously until you back off. The hatred between these two teams is real, and I'm saying this from a bystander's perspective, and as someone who hates both teams.
It's not a historic rival like the Bruins and Canadians. But it's a good rivalry none the less because of that series in the 90's. I remember watching that series and getting so fucken upset when ulf cheep shot Cam Neely. Ever since that hit it's been bad blood between them and US. And don't get me started on the Matt Cooke hit. Pittsburgh has done a real number on our star players over the years.. Smh..
I Hate Pittsburgh More Even Though I Hate Boston Too As a Flyers Fan This Rivalry Should Called "Black and Gold Vs Black and Gold" Since Both Teams Have The Same Colors!
It’s funny to me with millburry saying it breaks the code then chuckling on tv whenever Marchand sticks his knee out and hits so many players left and right. Dudes a bum
since when have these two teams been rival's? seriously I'm glad you're trying to make money nbc and i'm glad you're putting two non rival teams against each other to get fans to watch, whats next wild versus panthers cause they have been rivals since never
Not arch-rivals, that will be the Canadiens and Flyers for the Bruins and Penguins respectively. However, there have been a lot of bad blood between both teams. I can give a list, but there might not be enough room to list every misdeed committed by one team on the other.
There not rivals like Boston & Montreal or Pittsburg & philidelphia or Chicago & st. Louis or rangers & islanders but they have had some big confrontations in the playoffs because they are 2 very good organizations (god I had to compliment pittsburg..I need a shower).
So, I'm just putting it out there but why did the NHL go so far to save hockey in Pittsburgh? That's almost shameful, especially considering how quickly Quebec City got their team taken away.
A dirty hit that set off each iteration of the rivalry. I wish they would point out that each time it was Pittsburgh that threw the dirty hit. Organization is always employing guys like Matt Cooke and Ulf Samuelson. Dirty organization.
They only focus on American teams why on earth!!! I don’t know 🤷🏻♂️ there is the rivalry between Calgary and Edmonton or Montreal and Toronto, they’re bias!!!
It was a NBCSN series, they usually made episodes to go with the game matchups on their midweek coverage, thus some of the episodes aren't true rivalries that we think of and they didn't show a lot of inter-Canadian games.
