Nick's Mods Ep.21- Vastus -- LEGO Bionicle Revamp!

They do look really good together but the real takeaway for me was reinforcing how good the character design of gresh is

I always liked how Vastus had snakelike qualities, obviously his snake armour but the way the wire wraps around his staff. and his feet, I have no idea how to describe it but his feet remind me of snake heads. I dunno I just think Vastus is cool. anyway awsome Moc!

I didn't even know Vastus was an unpopular set. To me, anyways, I always assumed the consensus was that it's just.. _mid._

So far the only one to keep his launcher, and I think in universe that'd be interesting, that he'd be a long range fighter more than the others

I wish we got more colours for the clear tubes. Sure we got some purple ones for the lego batman but otherwise since ordeal of fire, it’s been same old lime and blues. Hell I wish we got more recolours for regular mahri tubes too. They’re one of the few constraction pieces still around.

Now I definitely like how you remade him entirely! Like a serpent in some areas indeed! ACE!

Weirdly enough, I would try putting Gresh Stars helmet to cover this Vastus's butt, going alongside the skirt that uses that same set's armor. I should try it myself, actually. Great revamp, Nick, as always!

I think the most interesting part of these Bionicle 09 MOC videos is seeing what I missed out on. I got the original Glatorian wave when that released, but I skipped the Legends wave because I wasn't digging the 09 story at the time and the designs didn't really speak to me much. I've grown to appreciate some of the Glatorian Legends for what they are, but I really like these MOCs. It makes me want to see what kind of characters I was missing out on at the time.

A few years ago I made a couple Mocs, using a bunch of Bionicle parts I got from a tag sale for super cheap. I had never built anything with Bionicle before, so it was interesting to build something completeIy new. I made one using this guys head bc I thought it was really cool. I gave him 4 arms and he’s still cool Imo.

These Glatorian mods just go to show how Bionicle would have been much better if it ditched the horrible narrow sockets from 2008 and slowly started introducing CCBS, along with their superior socket designs. One of the reasons why I left Bionicle was the redesigned sockets from 2008, they actively make any set using them worse.

Solid video but I think the lime green torso is kinda an overkill. That shade of green coupled with the swamp aestetic gives me more of a toxic, posion vibe, which I dont assosiate with Vastus. Regardless, the overall additions are a good upgrade to him

Not gonna lie, I think alongside Strakk this might be my favourite of your mods. Silhouette wise my favourite. This is exactly how I imagine one of my characters from a story im writing, only that shes female. This armor and restrained pose feel so.... Right!

You made Vastus look so much cooler, you did really well. I always have a nostalgia for the Glatorian since they were my first bonkles and I always liked his designs

I really like your mods, but I'd love to see what you can do unrestrained by an existing design and merely by the pieces you have. Is there a chance we might see some MOCs (maybe custom Glatorian for each tribe?) in the future?

not sure how I feel about the shoulder armor on this one. I wonder if I would like them more if they were angled outwards rather than inwards. Other than that, this is another excellent mod!

Hey I have an idea, you don’t have do do this obviously, I might do it myself, but I recently bought all of the barraki, and I can see some of them really need some modding, especially mantax, maybe you could give that a try?

Will you do a video of all of them together once you have shown them all individually?

A new pin? Pfft i can think of parts that most would want more. Starting with a four hole lift arm beam and a lift arm with three axle holes, the cam is the only piece with extra axle holes only but its a weird shape

Underrated, how? The default build? Most sets are bare bones. Kiina honestly would be underrated do her boring design
