Sorry to inform you. You did and so did I waste my time. That is for measuring the PH not nitric oxide. Orange juice, coffee, soda will give the same results. He's not too bright..
@@theywright9960 at 2:18 he introduces the saliva based Nitric Oxide test strips and in the video text description he links to the product on Amazon. So they are clearly not pH measuring strips. There are different paper strips for different metrics and chemicals.
i was about to turn this man off, Then he brought out his test strips, and I have to say it was most informative and quite surprising to actually witness a test in real time. We all sort of know these foods are beneficial, but to have a practical demonstration, rather than someone standing in front of a board, with a sharpie and presenting information not demonstration, is refreshing. Well done sir !!
It's very important to note that mouth wash is detrimental to the mouth biome which is critical for the eventual production of nitric oxide. Very good video. Thank you.
Dr. Esselysten says it is the action of chewing the kale that keeps it recirculating to maintain the levels higher longer. He says smoothies are OUT........not good. Chew your greens. I always add beet powder or cooked beets to my green salad. Race horses are fed onions and garlic to clear their legs of blood clots so I always include onions and finely chopped garlic.
Yes, there is action in the saliva that helps with absorption. And chewing the kale tears open the cells so the saliva can get at the contents. It sounds like you have got some healthy foods in your diet! 👍👍
Amazed that people prefer shakes and smoothies, supplements, etc instead of the real natural foods that are meant to be eaten. For one thing , you miss out on the fiber when you process it. Also chewing is an important part of the digestion process in breaking the foods down so that the body can get all the nutrients from it. If it suits you, fine. I just never understood it. If I’m going to take in calories, I want to enjoy the eating process.
@@Jake-by9ly sorry, I didn’t make my comment clear. Was referring to the commercially produced supplements that are so popular today. You know the ones that say why would you eat all those fruit and veggies when you can take our pill or drink out shake. Yes, agreed that a home made smoothie or shake in a blender made from whole fruit and vegetables would most definitely retain the fiber. But I do plead guilty to preferring to eat the whole fruit or vegetables as opposed to liquifying them. Fills me up better and I like the crunch. But yes , I lumped them all together and that was not my intent.
I attended the local hospital 2 years ago, to visit the audio hearing department. They had me going through hearing tests in both ears. If I needed an operation which would involve general anaesthetic they told me I would have to lose at least 30lbs and take medication to lower blood pressure. I began making a Lemon Ginger Blast which included Kale in this juice recipe. When I returned 6 weeks later after taking this juice once a day 3-4 times per week, they tested my blood pressure which had lessened to healthy normal levels. My hearing had improved so much that my results were superior to any time I had tested before. So even though my blood pressure would have allowed me to have the operation, I no longer needed it. Kale of course contains NO - Nitric Oxide. The gentleman in the video above obviously knows what he's talking about.
@@hannstv 2 lemons, 2 fingers ginger, kale full packet, at least 4 stalks celery, 2 cucumbers, habenaro or whatever chilli you prefer. Keep a bottle of milk or cold water handy yo chase the blast down if you're a first timer. Once you become used to it you'll laugh at milk n water. Blood pressure will normalise within weeks, energy will be off the charts, arthritic pain will ease, hearing and eyesight will improve. And here's one you won't believe until it starts to happen. About 4 months in, your hair starts to revert to its original color. Something to do with the roots healing, so if you know of anyone with hair issue clue them in. I use a slow juicer that extracts slowly, the fast ones cut time in prep but only get 1/2 the juice. Try and use organic if possible, if not soak in vinegar and soda bicarbonate and wash before juicing. One last thing, the hardest part of this isn't drinking this, it's being consistent. Play songs while your juicing and when doing the cleanup. Honestly, you won't believe what minor miracles this thing works. Imagine if you said prayers and ate a healthy diet ( not fruit, mainly berries and vegetables and some intermittent fasting, skip breakfast ). Blessings and Peace dear friend.❤🙏🙏🙏❤
BIG CONGRATS, Gerald!! Pretty amazing when you see the change, no? You might also want to consider acupuncture...with results which can ALSO be dramatic. ; )
@456zounds Well...I began eating more Kale and raw veggies to avoid the oil in carry out, in particular, Chinese mixed veggies, one of my faves. I assume that the combination of less oil and more raw kale is what restored my mojo.
Great video. NO supplements did nothing to increase my levels. I tried a bunch of greens with minimal increase, but I had excellent results with Kale! Bright pink on my test strips for the first time. Thanks for video.
Karen...what you want to try is a beet product...which can DRAMATICALLY raise NO levels...and lower BP. BTW...I AM a health practitioner (more than 25 years). It also--for what it's worth--can be very helpful for Erectile Disorder.
@@456zounds in terms of benefits of both beets and kale in increasing one's NO, what's the difference between juicing and chewing them? It's just easier to juice and drink them.
@@watchyourplate9150 I'm afraid I'm not very familiar with the effects of kale. I've long used Beet Root Extract (for at least a couple of years)...and find that it EXCELS for both Hypertension effects, as well as Erectile Dysfunction. It has a pleasant taste, and is NOT overly sweet. Beets--incidentally--are also STRONGLY supportive of liver function. I used to use about a tspn/day (weight ca 150 lbs)...and have gradually shifted down to about 1/2 of a tspn (and seem to enjoy the same success). For male health, my dosage is now about 1/4 tspn of Maca (along with the beet product).
For those considering Kale and Spinach salads, you might want to do some research into Oxalic Acid. Found in both (a lot of the dark leafy greens), it binds to calcium, magnesium, etc. and lowers those levels in your body. There are ways to counteract the effects, but you need to see what works for you. I love spinach in salads, so I've had to make a few adjustments. I hope this helps.
This video must've taken a week of your valuable time...thanks a bunch for putting this together. Now I know exactly what I need...hmmm maybe a Kale/beet root smoothie with honey...
Thank you, Paris!😊 This was a very helpful presentation on how to use the strips as well as which foods affect it positively and how long the effects last. I thought you did a really thorough job. Congratulations on choosing a plant-based lifestyle. 😊
This video is GREAT!! I've been trying a lot of N.O. supplements and drinking beet juice in an attempt to raise N.O. levels, and I've been using the test strips to confirm efficacy. Nothing really seemed to have evidence of working. Then I made my normal smoothie of beet root powder, watermelon and pomegranite juice, but added spinach and kale. And whammo, the test strips indicated dark pink, when previosly I could only get very light pink results. So, looks like kale and spinach were the game changers. Adding the beet syrup shot to that mix even makes the test strips a little darker pink, almost purple. Nothing I've tried gets the strips to register in the "high" or "very high" range.
I also read somewhere that eating a lot of spinach and kale can cause kidney stones because of the high oxilate content in them. I also read adding some lemon and lime juice to a greens smoothie may help counteract the effects of the oxilates from the greens.
Loved this video... Congratulations Parris... Lots and straight forward information. I'll definitely stick with a kale and beet smoothie a day from now on. Thank you!
The problem with organic is they can't use nitrogen based chemical fertilizers and that causes the greens to have about 1/10 the nitrates. Less chemicals but also less nitrates. By chewing your mouth bacteria or microbiome converts thel nitrates to nitrites. When they hit your stomach acid N O Nitric Oxide is released. If you drink the smoothie you bypass or reduce the mouth conversion.
My husband makes me beet juice every morning. I’m glad to hear how effective it is on nitric oxide. I understand the rationale in chewing but would still like to see reactions to kale juice. I hate kale too, but I can gulp some kale juice down. Thank you so much for the demonstration!
Kale seems to be a bit rare here in the Philippines but I occasionally see it in Cebu City supermarkets (2nd largest Philippine city). I did find some kale seeds and will try planting myself. Thanks for the info.
It's easy to get stuck on a product, bear in mind this is written for the US bubble, in the Philippines you have a lot of dark green vegetables, celery, L-Arginine & L-citrulline as supplements the big thing is the arrival of NO test sticks, I also live in this corner of our world so I buy from China as local pharmacy do not stock
Something to also check with the beet juice would be blood sugar and insulin levels, beet juice tends to be high in sugars so it can be a detriment if you're consuming it on a regular basis.
@@newyorkguy158 that’s true in a caloric clinic. But sugar from a table spoon highly processed is much different than sugar in fruit that comes with fiber and all sorts of other minerals and vitamins.
@@gzmz1993 yes, but we are not talking about fruit. We are talking about juice which will cause blood sugar and insulin spikes. It's not healthy to drink fruit juices, certainly not as a habit.
Great presentation! Many people don't like Kale. I don't like that cheap curly kale that comes in those plastic bags either. There are many varieties of kale that you can find at Farmers Markets or high end organic groceries. I LOVE and eat a lot of Lacinato Kale (aka Dinosaur or Tuscan kale). It's a very large leaf, kind of like a wrinkly spinach. It has a mild flavor, no oxalates (like spinach) and is particularly good cooked. Saute it with onions and carrots - quite lucious :) There are also recipes for curly kale that soften the leaves and served with a sweetish dressing like a balsamic vinegar...yum I eat kale just about every day, just chop some small and add it to everything I cook.
Thanks! The benefits of relaxed arteries and increased blood flow should be felt throughout the body. Various factors can be involved in ED so increased blood flow will be most helpful if a person's ED is caused by decreased blood flow.
Excellent. Can you do another test after boiling the kale and spinach? I like it boiled with olive oil, salt and lemon juice. This is the traditional way it is eaten in the Mediterranean.
beet juice (beet it) mixed with freeze dried kale powder. blood pressure returned to optimal from hypertensive. also boosted my energy levels from fatigued to all day energy
Instead of drinking the juice that just bypasses your mouth which is the whole purpose of eating. Simply slice the beets in small slices and chew them slowly
I eat spinach and eggs everyday 7 days a week plus I have salad 4 times a week and I take Nitric oxide supplements I think I’m having to much!? What do you think?
I don't know if there is an upper limit on nitric oxide. For myself I don't worry too much about whole food sources but with the concentrated amounts in supplements I just don't know.
It’s been ages since I have made a comment but this one was really good. I don’t know this guy but I’ll probably subscribe to his channel because the video was factual and he use the test strips and he was real
Just a question so have you continued with this treatment to raise our nitrates/NO to the blood vessels and organs? and if so how has it worked out for you? thanks. another update would be wonderful
This sounds great, but I am just confused because I watched another video where it said not to have beets, spinach, or kale because of the oxylates. So, everything is bad and don't know what to eat to increase nitric oxide. Any help?
Cooking can reduce the oxylates in foods. And I thought kale was low in oxylates? At least it is according to this WebMD article- www.webmd.com/diet/foods-high-in-oxalates#:~:text=Oxalates%20%E2%80%94%20also%20known%20as%20oxalic,like%20leafy%20greens%20and%20legumes.
To many oxalates with Spinach and Beet juice. Plus, like you said, to much sugar with Beet juice. I would stick with the Kale. Dr. Esselstyn says to boil it for 5 minutes and chew it thoroughly.
Juice is a processed food and I drink it sparingly anymore. But when in need of a quick and easy way to boost your nitric oxide beet juice is certainly convenient.
You wore the same shirt for 2 days? J/K 😂😂🤣😂😅🤣 Nice colors for your shirts. What a great video!!! I am going to try for 6 days making kale/spinach/beet/apple juice and check my nitric acid levels.
VERY - VERY GOOD VIDEO! If there is some suggestion as to how to adjust someone's diet that would be helpful. Personally, I would add a shot (Tablespoon) of Beet-juice with each meal. And try to add (1) One "Kale-Spinach" salad per day to my diet. This would round out the high/low on a daily basis. PS: Great video.
Thanks Hewitt! The shot of beet juice with each meal sounds like a good idea. I try to get in a spinach/kale salad at least three or four times a week.
Great video… informative and very helpful. As an aside , it would be interesting to compare the NO benefits of beet juice v. Lemon juice ( both with no added sugar)
Just found this. Well done bit of experimenting; v.useful info. Thank you. I knew kale was good for you but not that good. Like yourself, not crazy about kale or beet. I've been making up whole beetroot with apple and ginger juice and blending them into a thickish liquid to drink. After watching this, I'm hoping my concoction is not breaking down the beneficial properties of solitary beet but, it certainly makes it less 'painful' to drink. Any comments, please.
Thanks! And I am still doing several salads a week with baby kale and baby spinach as the greens. I also pick up the occasional 100% beet juice. I do make an effort to swish each sip of beet juice around my mouth so it will wash down some saliva. That may be overkill because you have to figure most saliva is going to end up in the stomach anyway. But I imagine it helps. 😁 I don't think the mixing with some apple juice and ginger would an issue unless the final product ends up being mostly apple juice. But the fact that you are working with whole beetroot certainly works in your favor.
I would like to see how beats would hold up if you ate them whole a serving of beets see if it would last as long as the kale would as opposed to just drinking the juice of the beet.
Sliced thin enough I guess you could eat beets raw. If you cook them I think it reduces the bioavailability of the nitrates. I will leave that test for someone else. 😁
Good information here's a tip if you don't like kale I usually put a handful in the blender in my protein shake in the morning and just blend it... I wonder how that would affect the levels??
According to the doctor who done the research on NO, all smoothies are out, when you blend your food, you are essentially processing them rendering them useless. Sorry but hey” just tryin to help.
@@MattyMattnj1 Wrong huh” if you blend your food’ you ain’t chewin it, if you ain’t chewin” your not adding saliva , no saliva , very little nutritional value extracted. End of.
I wonder what your blood spikes are from drinking beet juice? Seems like it'd be very high which might be doing you a very disservice rather than a beneficial thing
Informative - thanks. Have been taking more notice of the NO phenonemon lately after viewing Caldwell Esselstyn's videos on the topic. Also clued in by Dr Michael Greger on nutritionfacts. Just focusing on eating more greens, buying beetroot more often (I find it a hard vegetable to incorporate into meals) and munching on a few wild dandelion leaves or parsley sprigs from the garden.
Very helpful, but if you have heart issues, why do you let taste stop you from eating the veggie with the highest or almost highest level of NO? It could save your life. You could add something to it to improve the taste, whether EVO or balsamic vinegar or some other kind of dressing, even one you make yourself. Pepper, turmeric, ginger or some other herb could be added. You didn't mention it, but you could also eat other veggies in the high NO category. By the way, spinach is very high in oxalates which can cause kidney stones, especially if eaten raw. Kale may also be somewhat high in them.
Good point! And since making that video I have started having kale and spinach several times a week. As for the oxalates- I take a Vitamin K2 supplement daily to help make sure the calcium I ingest gets to my bones and teeth rather than my arteries or kidney stones.
@@parristx Not sure the K2 supplement will help you at all. Even if it might work, there is the question of how much to take. A 50 mg supplement probably won't do anything. Better to take it in food like natto, which might have 100-300mg per serving. But if you think beets taste bad, you are in for a shock if you try natto. But it's the best natural source of K2. Lot of Japanese people eat it with fish everyday.
