That was razor was my first DE razor i bought over 2 years ago, so it is definitely a keeper, I remember struggling a bit with it at the start but now with better technique, control and blades I get great shave from it.

The best safety razor I’ve ever used! I like this one more than my others, and they’re more expensive than this razor! Why? …because this razor shaves well, I get almost no irritation on my neck and jaw after using this one. Plus the 3D handle is nice to have for better grip. I’m looking to purchase the chrome version of this one soon.

What are you thoughts of the various Witch Hazel brands? I find the Humphries & Dickinsons carries an off kilter smell until it dries. The Thayers seems to be the best smelling I purchased. Secondly, I have a post on the Badger and Blade forum about balm's and aftershaves talking about which comes first in the post shave routine. What are your thoughts on application order?
@kevyshaves4109
@kevyshaves4109 5 лет назад
I thinking Thayers is the best Witch Hazel out there. I used to put the balm on first, then the aftershave. I guess there's no right or wrong way, whichever you prefer. Some people like the burn if the splash has alcohol in it, so prefer to put that on first to cleanse the skin. Personally, I don't think it matters. Kevy 👍

nice vid! there's a lot to be said for some of the inexpensive soaps and creams for daily shaves. I've found the Palmolive cream really good, available for about £2 in the supermarkets, similar tube to the nivea. Ive just ordered this razor, my merkur futur has had its day now, and im hoping this'll be a bit lighter and more precise in use!
@kevyshaves4109
@kevyshaves4109 7 лет назад
Yes, I agree. While it's nice to use more expensive creams and soaps, it's good to use the cheaper stuff too that performs just as well. I'm sure you'll enjoy this razor more than the Futur, which can be a very aggressive razor for some people. Cheers. Kevy 👍
@riparato
@riparato 7 лет назад
Kevy Shaves cheers Kevy, yes I used it last night, and what a shave, with a feather blade i had no irritation at all. I think the draw back with the futur is the blade clamping system, which becomes slack over time, and possibly allows the blade to move, which maybe explain good shaves some days and bad ones the next. No worries of this happening on the Jagger. I'm not sure if the derby blades were right for me either, feathers seem a lot keener.

Another great shave Kevy. Many find the de89 quite a mild razor. That's not a problem for you? Your beard seems fairly heavy as is mine. I`m thinking about getting one especially now that they have that new knurled handle. Thanks.
@kevyshaves4109
@kevyshaves4109 8 лет назад
+Brian B. Brian, the DE89 is considered a mild razor but personally I think it's a great efficient razor. And the build quality on the 3D laser Diamond handled one I have is flawless. The knurled handles have great grip too. Just beautiful! Once you find the right blade in it that works best for your skin and beard type it will give you a great shave. It's a great razor to have in your den. Hope that helps. Let me know if you decide to get one how it goes for you :)

@kevyshaves4109
@kevyshaves4109 Год назад
I think it should last for a long time. As long as you look after it and let it dry after using it, it should last for years. Soaps do have a date on them; usually 12 months, but I've got soaps that are over 6 years old and still work and smell great. If it looks ok in the tub and it still lathers, I think it should be fine. Kevy 😀

It's hard to believe but Mr. Kevy Shaves is actually using a cream that's easy to find! I recently purchased an extra tube of the Nivea shaving cream for US $1.99. It creates a really nice slickness, but that could be due to the dimethicone. I always try to give my brush a few seconds more of rinsing when using the Nivea. Kevy, have you tried the La Toja and Omega shaving creams? How about the Old Spice musk and lime creams that come from India?
@kevyshaves4109
@kevyshaves4109 8 лет назад
+Shave- a-thon I haven't tried any of those creams you mentioned. I've seen them all but never tried them. I like the sound of the Old Spice creams from India.
@shave-a-thon3415
@shave-a-thon3415 8 лет назад
+Kevy Shaves For the Old Spice shaving creams, you probably have to look to Ebay. While you're there, see if you can order the Old Spice Musk aftershave. The musk version is only made in India, as is the version of Original Old Spice aftershave that many feel is closest to the Shulton formula before the sale to Proctor and Gamble. Here in the USA, "Classic" Old Spice is available in the stores and that seems to smell a little sweeter than the original formula. I think the Classic Old Spice cologne that's sold here is a bit spicier and I would imagine the Original Old Spice EDT that's only sold in Europe is even stronger than that.
@jimstull
@jimstull 8 лет назад
I like the Old Spice, The Godrej from India is nice and inexpensive. There are some other inexpensive creams that get no attention. Bulgaria makes great stuff, Domino from Macadonia and Barbon and Figaro from Hungary are great - and cheap. My favorite may be Cade shave soap from France - that , a good razor and blade and you are in for a treat !! Oh , follow up with a great balm - I strongly urge Neutrogena Razor Defense Post Shave Balm !!

@shave-a-thon3415
@shave-a-thon3415 8 лет назад
I've learned that some creams can be brush lathered in a bowl, while others are better off face lathering by squeezing it on the brush and yet others are better off when you apply the cream to the face, then start lathering with the brush. I've gotten better results with Old Spice shaving cream by brush lathering, while all the Palmolive creams I have can be bowl lathered and they really like added drops of water. The Gillette creams seem to perform better when dabbed on the face and neck before brush lathering. I also like the La Toja, Proraso, Tabac, Nivia Omega and Tabac creams. The Proraso menthol is very cooling, especially when allowing the Proraso green pre-shave to moisturize the skin for 5 minutes before shaving. Add my collection of Arko's and Derby's and it's quite a shaving cream potpourri. As I've told Kevy, use more familiar shaving cream or soaps in the video title, and your views multiply in size. Jim - regarding the Old Spice, my opinion is that the shaving cream hardly smells like the aftershave, and the musk shaving cream smells little like Old Spice Musk aftershave, whick I really like. I don't have the OS Lime aftershave, but I assume the same holds for that.
