D’Lo isn’t the issue. He just needs to be used correctly with a two way or 3 and D guard beside him and limit his need to be a scorer. He can play a role similar to Rondo did in 2020 with his elite playmaking, while being a legitimate floor spacer.

@@oblivionpro69 When I parallel D’Lo and Rondo, I’m talking about from a playmaking perspective. He had several double digit assist games for a reason when Bron was out. In the Backyard Podcast with AD and D’Lo, AD spoke about Rondo’s ability to analyse details of the game and he said he sees that similar thing in D’Lo. If you can’t see that D’Lo is a great playmaker then idk what to say. Lakers should use him in that role rather than trying to rely on volume jump shooting from him in the playoffs, the same way no one expected Rondo to be that. That should be his secondary utility.

I don’t think he can play that (2020) rondo role. Reason NUMBER 1 he can’t defend like Rondo Did defensively rondo did damn good in the playoffs and that’s just not in D-Lo’s Game honestly. D-Lo is a good Playmaker not a GREAT playmaker like Rondo,CP3,Bron,etc. He doesn’t have the same basketball IQ like Rondo not very many people do have that level of basketball knowledge not even some coaches. I was so happy he returned this summer. Outside of the playoffs, he has been the best 3rd option to ever play with Bron. His fit was perfect and his production never went down.

Reaves IS tradable, but for the right deal/player. Reason is because his production FAR exceeds his contract, which is WIDELY viewed as among the best (if not the best) contract in the league. Now....had a Donovan Mitchell been available to the Lakers to trade for, they'd sure as sh!t trade Reaves, if that's what it took. Outside of the picks they have available to trade, he's probably their best tradable asset. They don't wanna spend that unless it's a home run type opportunity...one that REALLY moves the needle, one they feel puts them over the top.

D'Lo is NOT a bad player in the playoffs. He was bad versus THE NUGGETS in the playoffs. He played well against Golden State and the Grizzlies that playoff run. The Nuggets just had his number for some reason. They were his kryptonite. He doesn't even have two full seasons under his wing yet, in his return here. This is partly why the CBA changed its rules, to allow a player to learn and grow for a tenure, instead of shoving him off to another team. Yes, I hope we improve and make roster moves, but at the start of the season, I would be happy if D'Lo was still here. Run him back. LN4LIFE💜💛✊🏾

DLo was still great for us in the regular season. We wouldn't have made it to the play-in if not for him stepping up when AD and Bron would sit.

DLO’s falloff in the playoffs is MASSIVELY overstated His points This year vs Denver: 13, 23, 0, 21, 14 He had 2 great games, one awful game and 2 mediocre ones and yall act like he was unplayable. Danny Green and KCP had worse series than that when we won a chip, stop scapegoating the man because Bron and AD can’t beat Denver. Keep in mind, we probably don’t beat the warriors or grizzlies in 2023 without him. He saved us multiple times in those series.

And that’s what irks me. Like they put these trades with DLo to teams with pgs. And then surprised when no 1 excepts them. Plus DLo out played his contract so those teams will have to reup just to hold value. So why would ATL trade for DLo when they’re trading Murray to get out of a log jam at the 1? It doesn’t make sense. At least Austin 3 year contract has better value and he’s more of a 2 guard. That’s why ATL asked for Reaves.

I think rui is the one that needs to be upgraded. The SF position needs to be more aggressive and physical and I like rui I just think he lacks a certain aggression offensively and defensively consistently that could help a Dlo and AR back court grant would be an absolute upgrade that would allow us to keep Dlo until the right player is available to replace him. So to me I’m giving up 2 protected first with rui and Gabe and a vet min for grant because he would help balance the lineup so much better than rui imo

He's been traded 4 times already, and no one else was willing to give him 18+ million dollars. Which is why he's back. The Magic preferred KCP. The Warriors refused to even consider going through that again. If he's your 3rd best player, you're in trouble. Also, his total stats don't tell the full story of how putrid he can be for multiple game stretches. I said nothing about defense or the playoffs.

DLo is a huge defensive liability which makes him playing in lineups with Reaves a nightmare. The Lakers need a few two-way players on the roster. Cameron Johnson, Saddiq Bey, Walker Kessler, Brook Lopez, etc. would be great fits.

Every guard is a defensive liability in the western conference. 90% of the guards in the west are in consistent attack mode. Most of the defense this year was about drop coverage. We haven't really manned up on defense since Vogel. Every player just sends their player to AD.

But regardless DLo is a disaster on defense and so is Reaves which is why one of them should go. Reaves isn't going anywhere so DLo needs to be moved or paired with a two-way shooting guard that can take up the slack on defense. Gary Trent Jr, Saddiq Bey, Kuzma, Dorian Finney Smith, etc is needed on the roster. And so is a proper upgrade at center.

Steph Curry is the greatest point guard of all time and is a defensive liability. The problem isn’t DLO it’s the coach. Use him like Curry and have him running around off ball scattering the defense while lebron has the ball in his hands and you’ll be fine. AD is a better defender than Draymond so he should have no problem masking DLOs bad defense like Draymond does to Curry

D’Lo isn’t a bad player at all. Especially at the price the Lakers are paying for him. He’s just streaky and loses confidence at times in the playoffs. But you can’t just trade him for anybody.

DLO was one of the main reasons we made the playoffs. He was great last year. Those are facts. He wasn’t great in the playoffs, but there was a lot of reasons why we can’t get over the Nuggets hump. We are a better team with DLO. I wouldn’t trade him for pennies. I still haven’t seen a trade sending out DLO that is a win for us yet. I’m willing to trade him, but only if it makes us better. Also Rob hasn’t been good lately. But Rob and the Lakers make their best moves when we least expect it - not when the spotlight is on. I would give it some time. Biggest complaint is why we are giving a contract out a 2nd round pick in Bronny. No issue with the pick. I have an issue with the contract. Give him a 2-way and make him work for the contract. Makes his signing more legitimate.

Lakers wouldn't have gotten past Denver with any realistic replacement for Russell. Denver toyed with the Lakers the past two post-seasons. Russell also broke the record for 3 pointers in a season. Might not have even made the play-in without him.

Dlo played over his contract. His playoff success is based on the speed of the game and he struggles to play faster. If they trade him, they should not add Gabe in that trade package and it should for a consistent scoring threat

I agree people forget before losing to the nuggets in the wcf Russell was key to getting past the grizzlies and he has been the best shooter on the team.. People be tweaking

DLo dropped 25 against Denver and defended his ass off but the team still lost. My point is maybe we need to rethink our thoughts on DLo coz losing him will be huge hole that i dont think any this guys we willing to get can fill in to what DLo brings to the team. Shooting elite and play making is needed in any winning team so dont just sent him packing coz defensive blah blah blah. Find a better way to use him at the coast of his contract is a big plus.

I don’t think that at all. He’s better than many of the players we talk about trading him for. He is a very good player. In fact keep DLo rather than getting fleeced in a trade.

This guy plays below his talent level to avoid being traded, causing us valuable games we need in the regular season. Then, when we scrap and scrape our way into the playoffs despite his snakery, he withers up like a vampire in the L.A. sun.

DLo is very clearly NOT the problem with the Lakers. He made them better regardless of how he struggled at times in the postseason. They don't function without him. Here's some valuable DLo stats for those who don't know: Over the last 5 seasons, DLo has the highest Win Percentage for the Lakers among players who have a minimum of 10 games with +17 points (69.1%), +20 points (68.7%) and +25 points (73.5%) Lakers went 3-10 in games where Darvin Ham decided to bench him, Reaves and Rui in December. Lakers went 1-5 in games that DLo didn't play - 1-7 if we count the games he got hurt in. Lakers as a team shoot 38.1% from three when DLo plays. When he doesn't play, the team shoots 34.2% from 3 and the offense is -3.4% less efficient when he is out.
