It's kind of amazing how few people know this, but the minotaur exocraft allows you to scan for distress signals for free, so you don't have to buy those charts. Just summon the minotaur, install the scanner if you haven't already, and spam the scan until it says it's located a crashed freighter. The salvaged frigate modules only have about a 5% chance of dropping from the crates, however, so don't expect to get frigate modules from every crash site.

Yeah cus we skip. I only have the submarine vehicle so far. The quest randomly activated when I entered a system and happened to feel like doing it. Also if someone doesn't mind doing exploits you only need a single frigate module.

For me its because my minotaur suicided itself practically the first planet I had some sentinel fight for one of the main quest objectives. It followed me to fight and then the sentinels absolutely wrecked the minotaur damaging all of its technology which is not easy to repair. thus I realized how useless of a feature they are that I haven't used it since. I'm sure im not the only one that experienced this lol

FYI about Derelicts. The only crates that drop the salvaged frigate modules are the square blue ones (both the larger and the smaller ones) So if you're just after those, you can ignore the lockers and little briefcases.

I find going to a pirate system and pulsing around to a freighter fleet spawns you can destroy all the cargo nodes on the freighter and no sentinels spawn and you loose no standing (destroying the small cargo pod ships loses standing though) plus the freighters have mostly the illegal goods so you make a good profit as well

If you have the advanced scanner for the nautilus, it has a dedicated freighter scanner. You just have to find a planet with an ocean, and you jump from freighter to freighter, landing your ship on the nearest island each time. Still takes forever, sometimes it takes like eight crashed freighters to get one module

You can also scan (go and point at the storage unit on the freighter or transport vessel) freighter fleets for them transporting frigate modules and then shoot up the transport ship container housing it. You can do this and run before the authorities show up, and then come back and repeat until you clear the fleet of frigate modules. Then jump to the next system and repeat. You can also wait around for other fleets to arrive and check out their inventory. You can accrue a handful of modules pretty quickly this way and this is how I upgraded my freighter originally.

As a pirate, you make more from trader and merchant ships that cluster up in very high economy systems as they spawn quicker and often. I can gather around 45 - 50 salvage modules but it depends on RNG so recommend autosaving at station to refresh respawns. Its 10 times faster than crashed freighters and 2 times faster than abandoned freighters in space.

@@tonebonetones if you cherry pick only the pods, you can cut down the time. Once the Sentinel Dreadnaught lands and you disable the guns, the ships stop spawning fighters because of time duration in battle. The Dreadnaught is indestructible but the guns aren't and the wave spawner for notoriety refreshes after ALL ships are destroyed - Dreadnaught is technically a ship. Destroying all ships before looting the Frigates and Freighters is better because you don't have to worry about time and you can comb through clusters of the fleets looking for salvage. Doing the looting prior means scrambling before you runout of mats to recharge shields to survive between waves.

Nope. Not anymore. They nerfed the drop rates for system freighters. I used to do this a lot, I tried again and got nothing but metals and parts after 15 mins.

You don't have to buy multiple emergency signal scanners from the scrap dealer. When you activate one, place it inside your portable refiner and it won't be automatically removed when you go into the derelict freighter. Jump to a different star system and then back to use the scanner again for the same freighter.

Even better, when you finish a derelict run immediately summon the anomaly to check if there is a salvaged frigate module mission. Or check the anomaly every time you leave a planet and get into space. This method lets me do other things and collect modules when they are up at the nexus.

you don't have to buy maps at all. Just get your minotaur (make sure radar array is installed) and scan for distress signals.

when using the last method, you only need to buy 1 emergency broadcast receiver because all you need to do is to have a portable refiner. How? easy when you activate the emergency broadcast receiver, put it into your portable refiner and pulse jump in your starship to find the derelict freighter. When you are done with the exploration of the derelict freighter, land on a planet or space station. exit your star ship to create an autosave. Only now you take out your emergency broadcast receiver into your inventory. Once done create another autosave and the emergency broadcast receiver is now not active and you can re use it.

If you find me, ZealotXGenocide, at the Anomaly, I always give out free things I no longer have use for. That includes materials like SFMs. I been stacking just cause and then Endurance came out. Encountering me you might get an X-Class upgrade, an S-Class upgrade, materials for millions of units, or modules (mostly Salvage Frigate, Salvaged Data) possible Starship and Cargo slots. I like to share

You can just keep spamming use and it will eventually tag 1 of each. Then every map you use after you search the frieghter will always be a new one.

While in outlaw systems a lot of the missions reward modules and some missions will reward you for robbing freighter's so it's pretty good

I've done a few of the lost frigate missions and they didn't drop any salvaged frigate modules. It's really a cash sink. I made maybe 500,000 off of the loot. Got few C class ship mods, but I did get frigate expansion slots and some useless tech from the final terminal.

First of all thank you for this quick & accurate guide. I did it once and I got 3 Salvaged frigate module. But then I did it thrice and got nothing. Is there something I do wrong or I just get unlucky ?

You can try the other methods as well that I’ve showed but this one is the fastest like everything in this game there’s RNG (random number generator) with spawn rates and derelict and freighters are the highest

14 crashed frigates - 0 Salvaged Frigate Modules. Less than 1 in 10 freighters in space have any Salvaged Frigate Modules. I have never found a mission that has a Salvaged Frigate module as a reward. The only way to get them is to win a space battle every 6 jumps and get one from the captain. This is the most broken thing in NMS and FORCES you to cheat to duplicate them.

at the anomaly go to the quicksilver merchant and you can buy that and many more for quicksilver its a currency you can get by doing missions at the nexus that big cube enjoy!

You missed what is, to my mind, the easiest method, as it's practically passive... Build your five fleet control rooms (I have 8, because of the 25+hr missions) and run those every day. I get them via that frequently.

Honestly just get one and start duping them. You can dupe them until you have a stack of 15 and then keep duping that stack. Don't let people tell you about some stupid "honor" code. Just do this and have fun. Those are the same people who follow every single rule in real life and will always be poor. Just sayin. Work smarter. Not harder.

Just do this and profit. Thoes are the same people that follow every rule in real life and can be successful without being corrupted to do so. Just saying, work smarter, not harder.
