Ive been wearing prescription Prizm road for the past few years. Eyes changed and ready for a new pair. Road is great for MTB but when its full foliage coverage is a bit dark. Liked the sound of dark golf. Glad you mentioned it in the video. So that vs Torch is where im at. Im definitely light sensitive.

I was hiking with the Trail Torch in overcast weather on the mountains. It gave me enough contrast to see the trail clearly and see the rocky details. Same time it soothed my eyes by darkening just a tad as there were no trees etc up high.

Hi guys, thx for the detailed comparison video, much appreciated! If I overlay the light spectrum graph of the Trail Torch lens with the Road lens, they look suspiciosly similar. Would I be right to assume, that they look pretty much identical and the only difference being that the Torch is a bit lighter/ lets in more light (higher VLT) so it has a brighter look but it lets in "the same light" so to speak? I have a Sutro lite for bike riding (road bike) with a 24K lens which I love (it's pretty laid back in terms of contrast boosting compared to the Prizm road buit I like it that way if it's sunny outside = I can see enough anyways. However I like to do rides in the evening after work and I' like a lighter lens for that. I wanted to get the Road lens for that but it doesn't feel much lighter, only a touch (the contrast is boosted more though so I guess that would help in lower light conidtions). So would the Trail Torchbe the way to go in my case?

Really informative video. Great call on Dark Golf too! I looked at Oakley's spectral transmission graphs and can see that compared to Trail ... Trail Torch, Dark Golf, and Field all share very similar color/wavelength characteristics (though they differ in light transmission at 35%, 22%, and 15%). Since I'm into tennis/pickleball, MTB, and hiking, I think all three could work for me in SoCal. Maybe Torch for MTB/Hiking/lower-light conditions and Dark Golf or Field for brighter conditions.

I’ve been riding with trail lenses for about 3 years now and they’re perfect for my Southern Ontario (Canada) trails. I find myself using them for driving as well on overcast days. Generally a very versatile lens. In the 90s/2000s, my go-to was either the persimmon, or VR28, but Trail Prizm is far superior :)

MoradoAthletics Hi! Thanks for watching and thanks for the kind words! I have the DRT5 in the large and it for sure big enough for me. In fact it has extra room so the Boa system in the back does good job of ratcheting it down. Over all I like the helmet. The styling is near perfect and I love the profile and visor. It is a bit heavier then some other helmets I have but after about 2 minutes on the bike I don’t notice that. My only real negative is the super thin wire system on the Boa. Basically the part that snugs up on your head. Aesthetically it looks great but I find all the pressure on a small wire tends to dig into my head after a long ride. Not crazy bad, not a deal breaker, but also not ideal. I do wear it and enjoy it. Also if you want to see me crash in it check out our Vail Vlog video! Hope that helps and shred on!

Hi guys, first of all Happy New Year to you all and thanks for your interesting videos. I have recently bought a Specialized Gravel bike. I bought a Jawbreaker glasses with Prizm Road lenses and I have to say that are perfect for me since I have started cycling on the road (I am a beginner) as a first step. I have cycled just 3 times in the mountain and I was thinking about buying Prizm Trail lenses for my mountain sessions instead of the Prizm Road. So here my questions; 1. Which lenses would be better for gravel? Prizm Trail or Prizm Trail Torch? 2. Considering that I have the Prizm Road lenses, with which of the trail options will I notice better the difference? Thank you in advance!!
@sportrxeyewear
@sportrxeyewear 3 года назад
Hi Jonathan! Great question. PRIZM Road is going to be a darker lens than both PRIZM Trail lenses. The key difference between PRIZM Trail and PRIZM Trail Torch is the Torch iridium coating on Trail Torch. This is a red mirror on the outside of the lens. This makes it slightly better for sunny conditions-if you ride in the sun a lot we would choose this over PRIZM Trail. The actual visible light transmission between the two lenses is nearly identical (35% vs 36%). Either way you are going to be getting a lighter tint lens compared to road so you will see some differences there and most likely more contrast too! PRIZM Trail and Trail Torch really makes the details pop!

I ride in Colorado Front Range with a lot of mixed coverage. I'll go from heavy pine coverage to absolute sun exposure back to intermittent tree coverage in the matter of 30 seconds, all at Cat1 DH speed. Flip side, I'll head out to Moab and ride Whole Enchilada which is all exposure from just at treeline down to slickrock type exposure. Also, it's going to be prescription, so only one lens is an option. Which would you recommend for that type of exposure? thanks.
@sportrxeyewear
@sportrxeyewear 3 года назад
Wow! You are going for it! Mad props to you. As far as lens performance goes, PRIZM Trail and Trail Torch only differ slightly in visible light transmission - how much light is allowed through the lens to your eyes. With that being said, both options offer 100% UV protection. I would say either lens will do a great job in those riding conditions however, this sounds like the type of question our certified opticians may be able to provide more feedback on so please feel free to reach out to them here: www.sportrx.com/contact

Have you ever tried the PRIZM Ruby on trails before?
@sportrxeyewear
@sportrxeyewear 5 лет назад
We have tried it and found that it does not quite give the same contrast boost as PRIZM Trail. The main differences between the two lenses are that Ruby has a bronze base and VLT of 17% and Trail has a Rose base and VLT of 36%. You are getting less light through the lens and less contrast with Ruby. Hope this helps! If you would like more feedback on each option you can always contact one of our certified opticians: www.sportrx.com/contact

SportRx Yes, this definitely helped! Buying the targetline frames and wanted to see other options for the best trail riding lenses. Thanks to you! Using them for mountain biking. Thanks for the help!

@@sportrxeyewear i don't think you got it, im pro at programming, that doesn't make me a pro rider !! can you be a pro rider if you don't participate in world cups ? for me a pro is making his living competing. you know. you would not get my type of reactions if you weren't mentioning that every single vidéo, it's annoying. because it's a lie
