Anakin hates Obi-Wan because the dude showed up on Mustafar to kill him, poisoned his wife’s mind against him, and then, as far as he knows, kidnapped her and killed her after chopping him up and leaving him to burn to death in a river of lava.

Anakin, being the tryhard that he was, tried to defeat Obi Wan the same way that Obi Wan defeated the first Sith in 1,000 years. He was trying to upstage him and it really backfired.

From the galaxies point of view, the Jedi are evil. They committed treason against the Republic and the chancellor executed order 66 as a result.. dude, even stood up in front of the senate and explained what happened, and the senate agreed with him

This is the part I always bring up when people talk about how morally superior Obi-Wan Kenobi was. The dude came home to the temple to discover that Mace and the masters had committed high treason against the Republic, attempted to extra judicially assassinate the leader of the galaxy, and were legally duly punished by a legion of clone troopers wiping their asses out for their treason …. But then he goes and hunts down his former apprentice to exact revenge because Anakin didn’t turn against the government and commit treason along with them. It perfectly encapsulates the Jedi mindset, Obi-Wan went off, half cocked without knowing the whole story, and just did what he thought was right, because he’s a Jedi and they are always right irregardless of when they are not

@@Matt-yg8ub Obi Wan did not fight Anakin for revenge, but rather because Anakin was aligned with the evil Emperor, and had just committed atrocities. He rightfully wanted to stop him. He let him live, so, once again, not revenge.

@@funshine817 Obi wan was sent to Mustafar to kill Anakin out of revenge for the Temple. Obi-Wan and Yoda could have walked away, but they refused because had to go try and extract their revenge on Anakin and Palpatine. Mace led a group of assassins into the chancellors office and attempted to kill the elected leader of the Galaxy because They found out he was a member of the rival gang they were sworn to wipe out. Palpatine warned him that it was treason, Aniken warned him that it was treason, Mace did not listen….As a result, the chancellor executed order 66 to put down the Jedi insurrection. As for leaving Aniken alive, if it was merely about killing Aniken because he was allied with Palpatine, Obi-Wan could’ve just killed him….. Leaving someone to slowly choke to death on poisonous fumes while they burn a live on the edge of Volcano? That’s the sort of thing that you do to someone that you really really want to get revenge on

@@Matt-yg8ub I respectfully still disagree it was for pure revenge. Also, I read somewhere, that it was actually not treason. I forget the complexity of the laws, but George modeled the Jedi Order after the US constitution, and there are exceptions for doing what Mace did, so he was in alignment with the law. Yes, leaving Anakin to burn alive, as opposed to outright killing him, was cruel, but it was just more about his personal code to not kill a defenseless person. Revenge, imo, would have made killing him way more sense. Obi Wan just did not feel vengeful towards Anakin, only deeply disappointed, betrayed, grief stricken. I guess it is just a different way of looking at it. 😉☺

@@funshine817 The Jedi work for the chancellor, before Aniken told Mace that the chancellor was a Sith (which isn’t illegal BTW), Mace was already on his way to overthrow the chancellor. He was already attempting a coup against the Republic.

Bruh Anakin is the one who first said "don't make me kill you". Obi-Wan was talking to him and seemed to be doing some (admittedly half-baked) attempts to reason with him. Anakin is the one who jumped the gun, assaulted his wife (and by the way if Obi-Wan had no hesitations of killing Anakin when he arrived then he would have attacked him while he was force-choking Padme, he wouldn't have tried telling him to stop) and then accused Obi-Wan and WAS THE ONE WHO SAID "Don't make me kill you" FIRST. Yes, it was implied Obi-Wan had already made his decision on killing Anakin before arriving, but Anakin had no way of knowing that nor did anything Obi-Wan say to him before Anakin threatened to kill him suggested that. Oh also ANAKIN MURDERED CHILDREN.

@@cbfranco3307 Anakin legally acted in defense of the supreme chancellor against an unlawful treasonous act by the Jedi council. Beyond that we don’t know what the legal system in the Republic entails so when it comes to order 66, but General Skywalker was ordered to wipe out the Jedi as a result of their treason….. and he was very specifically ordered to wipe out the Younglings as well

Anakin already gave them the confirmation they needed: They believed a Sith Lord was orchestrating the one. And Anakin said he was the Sith Lord THEY WERE LOOKING FOR. They were looking for a Sith Lord that orchestrated the war. Also, stop lying. They came with the intention of ARRESTING HIM. Only AFTER HE KILLED SOME OF THEM AND TRIED TO KILL WINDU did Windu decide to try and kill him. Besides, Palpatine was the one who attacked first. All they did was take out their sabers and tell him to come with them because he was under arrest. He then took out his own saber, jumped towards them and proceeded to kill 3 of them. And who gives a shit if it's legal or not when the one making the rules of what's legal is a psychopath? Anakin murdered children. Stop trying to act as if Anakin or God forbid Palpatine, the guy who groomed Anakin since the first second he laid his eyes on him are the good guys here. And again, Obi-Wan didn't even pull out his saber before Anakin started making threats. It's clear who's the one forcing the issue here.

I see your point but it’s not nearly that simple. There’s a lot of lore behind why anakin chose to jump. It’s basically summarizes as anakins ego was so massive that he wanted to show obi wan that he had passed him in every way so as to perform the same move on him that he did on Maul all those years ago. It’s kinda stupid yes, but it fits with anakins character without taking away from the fights representation of his power.

@@micahallard426 Bro, I am all about lore. But the fact remains, all of this background info is NOT in the movie, and maybe it should have been. As it is at appears the lore was invented later to justify a questionable, dumb scene and make it make some sense. Exactly because pivotal scenes in the movie lack necessary context I do not like Rots the movie. Because the novelisation has plenty of that information it is 100000 times better than the film, imo.

@@agreatmanlookingtotheright Spare me your juvenile scorn. The fact is the previous episodes did not set up any of the two dumb scenes from Rots that I mentioned above. No, Anakin saying in episode two out of the blue that he will defeat death, is not a setup for anything. It comes out of nowhere and is not referenced again until 10 minutes before the betrayal. High ground scene is even worse. Here the high octane action sequence stops, not because characters experience a powerfull realisation or outsmart each other. One of them, the powerful and crafty one, as showcased in all of the whole trilogy, apparently has a seizure and instead of acting in any intelligent way (e.g. just float yourself on the droid you are standing even higher), makes the stupidest move ever for no apparent reason. Anticlimactic does not even begin to describe it. Those scenes are memed so often for a reason, you know. Not because they are brilliant. They are stupid as presented in the movies. Granted, they are much better in the novel.
